It means today's build is newer than the one already on your iPhone. The RC is still "beta" whereas this is final.
Calm down, Sherlock.
The update from RC to a newer public release build just shows up as another update. You only see the update as seen in the screenshot if you’re on iOS 18 not iOS 26 which is what’s throwing people off.

I’m on RC build and am getting no update also shows beta is off.

For those posting that they don't see the beta options, just wait a few minutes and refresh.

Mine have re-appeared and it tells me my phone is enrolled in the dev beta updates and is up to date. I know I can turn off betas and get the very-slightly-newer public build, but I can't be bothered. iOS 26.1 beta will be out soon enough, so I'll wait for that!

I installed the RC a few days ago and now I see iOS26 is up to date but it shows "also available, iOS 26" at the bottom with the newer version number but it won't let me download it.

Which version is likely to the on the new phones? Presumably the RC? If so, then would installing today's release on top of the RC then require the new phone to be updated prior to transfer from the current phone?
We don’t know for sure. But you need a internet connection nevertheless for the data transfer and due to the previous years there was often a day 1 update for the new phones.
We will see but it’s not a big deal.
