Even though I think 26.0.1 will come first, I can see 26.1 beta coming first, but not because of iOS 26 being stable. I can only see it happening because they’ve likely been working on 26.1 longer, and might need a little more time to fix the bugs for 26.0.1.

But then it would make sense to put 26.1 on the back burner and put all their energy into 26.0.1. But you never know with Apple.
Not that we can ever prove it one way or another, but I'd be willing to bet there are separate teams internally. One working on immediate bug fixes and then a second team working on 26.1.

I’m sure there are separate teams. But it also wouldn’t surprise me if Apple pulls people from other teams to expedite fixing urgent issues.

Sure we do know, imagine zillions of people getting their new shiny iPhones and oops… no reliable WiFi or wireless CarPlay with Apple’s new N1 chip. They need to control it ASAP and never mind any betas.

Maybe because there are issues to address? And there this all over the interwebs and MR:

And by that logic though, I’m sure there are always some niche issues to address. But that doesn’t mean that every update gets a .0.1 update… Some don’t. I haven’t seen any major widespread bugs in 26.0, just some niche outliers. I’m guessing 16.1 beta 1 has been in the works for far longer, and is prime and ready for beta release.

Very stable? Live Activities in CarPlay do not work and now we have this:

By and large, I believe 26.0 has been stable for the majority of people. There are some niche outliers where people are running into bugs, but that’s very likely an extreme minority of users. And iPhone 17 lineup has a new build of 26.0 that will likely address such 17-specific bugs…
