I've not seen anything about Visited Places since it flashing up for half a second and disappearing on a much earlier beta, and don't see that one "Visited Places" bottom settings toggle on 14 Pro Max

I think it is regional feature, not available for me in Europe..

It works for me in France if I open up Maps, expand the search bar, scroll up to the “Your Guides” and there is a large squarish icon on the top left called “My Places”.

Not the same thing…tap on your account, tap on places,

I wish Apple Maps could catch up with the US worldwide… Google Maps is still the one to use outside the US…
Not in the U.K., Apple Maps is better, Google maps doesn’t tell you to take a turn until you have taken it.
Google maps is better for satellite view though.

My phone gets super hot using Apple Maps on CarPlay. Not so much with Google Maps. I noticed this on standard firmware too though. So I don’t think it was to do with the beta. Any one else experience this?

Anyone else having an issue with CarPlay and Apple Maps, where when you initially connect your phone to CarPlay (I use wired connection so not sure if this applies to wireless CarPlay), and on the main CarPlay screen where it shows the mini map on the left, and music/etc on the right, the mini-map does not center on my location automatically, it picks a spot a few miles from me, and will remain in that position the entire trip unless I tap on the mini-map to make it full screen, THEN the map grabs my position and will follow me. Very weird bug

I discovered an issue that appeared to happen in Beta 9 and is still present in the RC, that if you start navigation and then turn the screen off, navigation pauses and will not update until the screen is turned back on.
Another user reported that it doesn't happen to them, but they are using CarPlay. I do not have CarPlay.
If you don't have CarPlay, and you notice this problem as well, please report it to Apple.

Upgraded to iOS 26 today. CarPlay screenshots is turned OFF by default for some reason. Be sure to turn it back on. All my screenshots today failed. 😞

The “smart zoom” for the display seems to resize the text and display bubbles for higher resolution screens. With it on, everything appears quite a bit smaller, much like upping the display resolution on your PC. Everything still looks sharp, and it creates much more space for the map to shine.

Other than that, not really noticing any major differences with how Maps is displayed or operating. Siri definitely got an upgrade, and speaks directions much better than she did on iOS 18. Zoom level and camera positioning seems the same.

One thing I don’t really like is how they changed the “recent” destinations. It expands now, rather than becoming a separate menu. And now it sometimes forces me to scroll a lot further with my jog dial when trying to force the cursor over to the buttons on the right of the screen after arriving at my destination.

But one thing I *really* don’t like so far is this new black on white aesthetic as part of the new glass effect. I preferred the blue highlight to see what is currently selected with my jog dial. Not a fan of black and white (or black and darker gray) when differentiating between selections.

Visited Places only recorded one place for me since I’ve turned it on, but I’ve been to several businesses, parks, hiking trails. Nada. Not really useful feature if it barely records anything. What I’d mostly want to use something like this for is traveling I think. Hard to remember everywhere you went on vacation or visiting a new city. But in its current state doesn’t seem to record much.

Was preferred routes not ready for iOS 26? It is not in options.

It’s been working the entire beta period for me…it will even note it in the options (if applicable) when you choose a typical route like going to work or going home.

EDIT: And i guess I should clarify...it seems to be automatic; not an "option" you select.

Dark mode is nice at night.

LOVING the widgets concept and ability to show live updates. Either the MLB app or the Apple Sports app provides live game updates on the dashboard view. And when not on the dashboard view, you get a brief popup with the score change no matter where you are in CarPlay. (The pop up immediately vanishes if you attempt to screenshot it, so I took an off-screen photo.)

I’m seeing other people’s photos on Reddit, and assuming we all have the dynamic zoom thingy on, I’m curious to know what factors into CarPlay permitting a third row, or allowing four “shortcut” icons on the sidebar instead of the usual three. My screen is certainly too narrow for three rows without shrinking the icons too greatly, but I’m sure a fourth icon on the sidebar wouldn’t have killed the aesthetic.

I’m also wondering if how Apple Maps adapts automatically to various screen sizes and resolutions sometimes causes weird, unintended camera and text behavior to occur.

Anyone here got Maps Smart Zoom on an 2019 Audi A4?

CarPlay on iOS 26.1 beta 1 doesn't show an option for Smart Zoom.

I'm just learning of the preferred route feature. I typically use Waze, but have been wanting a preferred route option for a very long time. I guess I'm an Apple Maps user now. I'm excited to see how well it works. My preferred route to/from work avoids the interstate, but is 5 minutes longer, so no GPS wants to direct me to go that way. It will be awesome if Apple Maps does what I want it to.
