iOS 27 Beta 4 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Siri routinely has told me one way or the other that it could not process what I wrote (Mac or iPhone), "remind me to.." just didn't work most of the time

This morning, every attempt worked! I'm thinking the backend for these requests has been addressed (and beta 5 hasn't dropped yet) by Apple. Anyone else noticing a better Siri experience this morning, so far?

Started since late last week. Affects both iPad Pro and iPhone Air.
I like to catch YouTube shorts and sometimes click into the full video link in the short. If I pause and then go back later to the full video, both the short and the full will play simultaneously. The short is playing in the background and you cannot get to it unless you close the full. New for this beta.

But it gets better 🫢

If I am playing a vid and shrink it into a PIP window (so far YT and Prime), and then open YT in Safari I can play both vids at the same time. Not always but it is not uncommon.

Call for help: using iOS Mail with gmail (as imap, I think) and the option to delete is not foremost. Just archive. I can’t swipe to delete and within the message archive is the default. I need to open the menu and move to trash to delete. Any advice how to make trash instead of archive the default? (note: the answer doesn’t appear to be writhing iOS mail settings) Thanks!

for gmail, you have to go into your mail accounts, and then account settings, then advanced and its in there.

As @christian.terra mentioned above, go to Advanced Settings for your Gmail account and then select Deleted Mailbox.

If you setup gmail account as IMAP, you’ll get Archive as default. If you setup your account as POP3, you’ll get Trash as default.

POP3 is not recommended if you have setup your Gmail account in multiple devices.

If you hold Archive button for 3-4s, you’ll get Trash option as well.

Quite the contrary, Siri is worse than it has ever been, and seems to have become hard of hearing also.

One of my real bugbears (feedback reported) is that it wants the phone to be unlocked for just about any action now.

Oh, man, same here!! I didn’t have really any of the problems that folks were reporting (hot phone, quick drain, resprings, etc) but this last week the termites have been coming out of the woodwork…the most prevalent bug for me will be just random moments where a (software) button won’t register a touch, across apps, until I swipe up and away, then reopen the app. The keyboard has become BIZARRE. Random moments of lag. Just minor stuff that is becoming more frequent, and that’s not normal to my beta experience. (17 Pro, IPSW installation each build)

Has anyone had issues with their internet connection being really slow? Not limited to one specific connection - Wi-Fi or mobile data. And it has only been in the past week that I have noticed this (could have been since the start of the beta, and I didn't notice). I have rebooted the phone and my home Wi-Fi system. The only thing I have not done (and am trying not to) is reset the network connections.

Normally, a page pops open and loads, but of late it seems to be taking longer, where I have a blank page and often have to refresh it to get it to show. It's been really odd.

Yes, Private Relay is on. I will try removing that and test. Limited apps open, if any.

I had this issue but primarily on cellular (AT&T). Verizon had no issues. It turns out IPv6 was not resolving but I fixed it with a network settings reset as the first step. Maybe worth a shot even though you are trying to avoid

There's a new Shortcut action in iOS 27 that lets you integrate Describe a Shortcut into other shortcuts, producing a new shortcut as an action output. The generated shortcut will also appear in your gallery.

iPhone Air - Battery
Been watching the battery for a few days now - not SOT but charging speed. With this beta, whether I am using a UGreen, Anker, or Apple iPad charger, it now takes longer to charge the phone. Charging seems sporadic in fits and starts.
All charging blocks and cables are in great shape and working correctly. Nothing battery eating running in the background. Almost always when on WiFi. No battery limitations set in Settings. Screenshots below.

Looking for anyone else that has been monitoring this before I post as feedback.
Not seeing this on the iPad Pro.

Is anyone else having issues with Reminders? On macOS 27 PB2 it seems to work as it did on 26, but on iOS 27 PB2, it doesn't seem to want to categorize items on the list (unless I enter them from the Mac, then it will do it), it will just keep everything under "Other". It will also darken some entries vs the white text it normally uses (in dark mode). Also, when viewing reminders in the app switcher, the colors are all dull (or more like a darkening effect). Only seems to do it to Reminders, for some reason. it also is doing this on macOS 27 when the Reminders app is not active, it just looks off with the coloring.

Battery is poor on the 17Pro for me.
But what should we expect hey.

Had an issue with calls not getting through to me. Doesn’t even go to voicemail. Reset network settings and AT&T re provisioning. No recruiters have tried to call me (no job for 6 months) so can’t test it. At home. 5 bars of service and WiFi calling on.
