I’m sure some of you are tired of hearing me complain about the small details, but I think we’re at the point in the beta cycle that it’s fair to start questioning the smaller things.

iOS 27 is finally beautiful to my eyes after the fixes they released from DB4 and beyond. MacOS 27 and iPadOS 27 on non-HDR capable displays still look unfinished to me, and I won’t ever be able to change that about my M1 iPad Air.

Do y’all have any speculations on whether they’ll adjust these before mid-September or if we’re just going to have a subpar experience on every non-HDR device for the foreseeable future? IMO, glass controls on a non-HDR device should have darker shadows in the center of each button to mimic the look you get on HDR-capable devices. Or they should just change to regular circles with an even, non-oval outline.

If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, the Gamery app developer did a deep dive here.

It’s still viable to get two more betas.

Aug 24 week beta 7
Aug 31 week beta 8
Sept 7 week RC post event
Sept 14 week public release.

Beta 7 is almost guaranteed for 24 Aug.

What happens next is not so clear, as Apple had taken an “extra” week for Beta 5 and also relabelled Beta 6 as Beta 5. So we might already be running Beta 7, disguised as Beta 6. It is also common to have a two-week break between the RC and public release.
