I'm colorblind. Liquid Glass is basically unusable for me.

Way to completely throw people with disabilities under the bus.

For some reason, I'm extremely sensitive to animations. For example, I cannot read an online article if there's an animated GIF or autoplay video in view (thank dog for reader view). The UX animations in iOS 26 make me queasy and they're not something I'm going to get used to.

I am astounded and profoundly disturbed that Apple has ignored these basic issues.

I have an iPhone Air and it does the same thing. It’s but one of my annoyances with Liquid Glass, especially in dark mode. It used to completely obscure the text in dark mode.

If it were me I would at minimum send feedback to Apple, and hopefully you used the settings app to adapt your phone as best as possible.

There’s literally a way to turn it off in accessibility. They did not throw you “under the bus.” They even have specific things for color blindness I believe too. Go call the accessibility department. They’re a specialty department in Apple support that deals with this sort of thing.

Not impossible, it could also be a "you", or rather a your device problem. But the only way to test that reliably would be to reset the phone and install it without restoring from a backup, a real pain!

Something similar made me drop Apple Podcasts on my old iPhone, it wouldn't automatically download and put new episodes on the playlist and play them automatically, when the previous podcast ended; even though they were doing that originally and I didn't change any settings. Removing and reinstalling Podcasts didn't help, but I was loathe to reset my whole phone over such a small inconvenience, in the end, I switched to PocketCasts...

With my new iPhone it is working properly again.

I’m just going to respond to my portion. There is no going back. This is the way Apple is going. You can either accept it or not (and get a different brand phone). But the facts are the facts- which are not debatable. You can turn Liquid Glass (which is the transparent effect not the UI or animation totally off with reduce transparency). Or tone it down, with tinted, in display. You may not like it. That’s fine. But the fact is the option does exist in accessibility settings.

Yes, those Options exists. But you also have to admit, that, despite having those options you don't get the same experience you had prior to iOS 26. And I'm not talking about circle buttons that stay stretched. The visual experience is - without a doubt - worse than on iOS <26. Folders for example seem to be completly unaffected by your mentioned setting and so is the control center.

I admit it’s not glamorous as before if you hate it (I don’t). And there’s some performance issues with it, but that’s those are the options besides edit on Home Screen. You can not update, update, or go with a different brand like Samsung (with transfer being rolled out for this iOS). The glass is not going away. 27 is likely to build upon it, if anything.

Did you turn on “reduce transparency” in accessibility settings like I told you? All of those are affected when you turn this setting on. (And if you just want apps and folders alone, long press on home screen click edit upper left corner, then customize, you can switch from clear to the other options).

I just use 26 as a consumer.

If I had LG on devices that I used for business, I’d think it garish & gaudy.

I use them for business 🥲 The only real reason I use Apple is because 1) I'm used to it (user since the 90s) and 2) there's monopolies or at least oligopolies in the computer business and so there's no alternatives and no innovation either. It's a catastrophe. The EU should break these oligopolies, it would add some fresh wind, innovation, and lower prices to the industry. But they don't have the guts because of Trump sadly.

iOS 27 is still many months away, but there are already plenty of rumors about new features that will be included in the software update.

The first beta of iOS 27 will be released during WWDC 2026 in June, and the update should be released to all users with a compatible iPhone in September.

(And if you just want apps and folders alone, long press on home screen click edit upper left corner, then customize, you can switch from clear to the other options).

I had it on prior to 26.0 (had been using it for ages) but deactivated it after upgrading to 26.0 since it felt off. Just switched it back on for the weekend since you suggested it.

I don't understand why it has to be that obstruvive though?

It not just darkens areas around your folders (which in itself is hella weird, it also has an awkward animation to it), but "removes" everything but your background too. Why just doesn't it tint like it does in the notification center?

The animation is separate. You must have reduce motion on. If you want the animations, you need to turn reduce motion off (they seemed to have moved it to its own category).

If you want something less obtrusive, there’s tinted in display (transparency must be turned off ). You can isolate apps independently beyond the Home Screen display but not Notification Center that I’m aware of. Besides my post above, those are all the options currently available.

They should fix the clean up tool for photos. It’s so bad.

And, fix the errors in photos app, to wit: hours of edits just vaporize!
