Tethering will never happen with AT&T. However even if it did it's the wrong direction for me. I don't want to tether devices to my iPad, I want to tether the iPad to my iPhone. Then I won't need a 3G iPad. And I know you can if you jailbrake but I'm not interested in that.

Interesting that you can get to the 3G account button but still no access to APN settings. There are some bugs fixed, but still lots of third party issues and the preferences app is very crash prone. I also wouldn't agree with those saying it's so much faster than beta 1. I don't see much difference in performance, I think the 3.2.2 performance is better.

Yea i upgraded yesterday and did not notice any performance improvements. It almost seems a little more buggy to me (crashed in photo app as someone else had previously mentioned). It could be better than beta 1, and I just cant notice it. I'm not sure.

I will say though, that when I installed beta 1, I did it as a new device. I restored to beta 2, and restored to the backup of beta 1. maybe that plays into it? I really don't know. Either way, it runs fine. Obviously not GM quality yet, but it really isn't far off.

Also....I noticed that people like to use the example of the 3gs having no trouble with 256MB of ram, so therefore the ipad should be the same. This is logical to think, but you cannot compare to ipad which uses more ram for its higher resolution apps and higher resoltion menus, and iOS elements. This will technically give the ipad less available ram compared to that of the 3gs

So whoever has it next will have no problems then with it updating with reqular software releases correct.

Registered devices can still use the regular released software but if you remove the device from iOS provisioning it will no longer be able to restore non-gold master beta releases. Basically if you sell the device or give it away and you don't want the user to be able to use non-gold master beta releases you should unregistered the UDID from iOS provisioning.

Huh. Just noticed you cannot send files to iBooks, it just does not show up in iTunes. Bummer, I wanted to send a comic to iBooks so I could read it later.

Are you sure you're doing it right by dragging your PDF/ePub into iTunes? It should appear under the Books section of your Library. Then sync your iPad and look in iBooks.

Works for me; I just tested it.

...

Well. Whoops.

I've done this before but for some reason I managed to forget how to send PDFs to my iPad. So yeah. :p Thanks.

I may have found another battery-related bug. Had the iPad connected to iTunes on the PC for a few hours while working. Now, the battery (with % showing) reads 100%. And it has done for the last hour, while I've been using it constantly. Hmmm...

Either I've got the battery from heaven or iOS is not showing the level correctly.

Other than that and AirVideo/VLC issues, my experience has been very enjoyable. Instead of seven screens of apps, I now have one with a bunch of folders :)

I am running 4.2 beta 2 on my iPad. Just got today the new HP Deskjet Pro 8500A Plus printer, which is one of the three new iOS compatible AirPrint printers. It is setup on my network. iPad nor iPhone can see it. Any ideas?

i believe you have to have osx 10.6.5 installed and itunes 10.1 which are both beta right now.

I can get it to see the printer and it sends it, but it never leaves the cue. From my phone and iPad. I have both betas installed.

Did you add your MobileMe account using iTunes or entering manually?

I restore as new and when entering username and password it crashes to homescreen.

When I touch the Sounds it highlights blue and freezes until force-quit.

And this morning, it's finally showing 99%. Will monitor and report...

Well, I've been using Beta 2 now for a bit. I definitely think the battery is discharging faster, but not by too too much. LOL! :).

Overall, very well put together build especially for a Beta 2. Can't wait to see what Beta 3 fixes :).

What is it, 12 days away or so :).

Can we send ePubs straight to iBooks from emails in 4.2, like with PDFs? Or is iTunes still needed for that?

Also, anyone know if IMAP IDLE is supported for general IMAP accounts?

just curious... when apple releases a new os, how long is it typically between when they release the first beta and when the official release is available to the public.

i know november has been mentioned as a date when this will be available... just hoping for sooner.

Don't know the exact date but it won't be before Novemeber.

Anyone been able to send audio via Airshare to the new Apple TV from this beta version? I can do it from my iMac and the new iTunes, but not from any app on the iPad. It seems to show it playing but I get no audio from the Apple TV

MobileMe works fine when you restore the account settings via iTunes. If you do not have an account back up in iTunes, I think your stuck.

Yay!!! Find My iPad works. Didn't work under Beta 1.
