iOS 4.2 GM is up.

The icon for AirPlay has been changed in the GM, from the wifi/speaker look to something more like a video display. Hopefully, this means video over AirPlay is not far behind. My :apple:TV is useless to me at the moment!!

Errr... never mind. Found the 10.1 beta for Mac on the iOS Dev Center so I'm good. :)

It works really well. The biggest thing that I'm glad about is the fact that iBooks works again. Didn't realize that I used it that much!
 
Can anyone help- I have a registered UDID but can't find the beta anywhere on the Apple devel site....where am I supposed to look?
 
Anyone here having problems login into MobileMe after updating to 4.2 GM ?
 
I don't understand why everyone is crying out for UDID registration. You don't need your UDID registered for GM build, period. At least, this is how apple is doing these days with GM Build. I am not a developer and I am enjoying my iPad with 4.2 with GM build. Did I have an issue with installing? Yes, a little. But, it works perfect now. I can use just about every apps I throw at it. Hello! FOLDERS!

You need a developer account to /download/ it from the Apple site. A UDID registration just allows you to do clean restores of it once you have the ipsw.

There must be, because this is supposed to be the convergence of all the iOS devices, that and the ATV is supposed to get access to the App store soon innit?

I decided to redownload the ipsw. Turns out I was right and my first download was corrupt :\

The correct SHA1 is:
SHA1(iPad1,1_4.2_8C134_Restore (1).ipsw)= edc2374ea39a029a943b345c43a8c2f2ab4bb504

And this is why only developers should have access to the Betas. There is no "version dependent" problem with any app or version of iTunes.

When a beta comes out, apps wont work. This is why developers are given the betas so they can make their apps compatible before the release comes out. People all over the internet decide to download these then get angry if some app doesn't work. It won't, its not supposed to, its supposed to let the developer see how their app does or doesn't work on the new iOS version and give them time to fix it before release.

For the iPad or iPhone to support nice new features that people want, iTunes has to update too to add and or be compatible with these features. Thats why every time an iOS version comes out, iTunes updates, that way everything works together.

As for "Apple manipulating you" thats just silly. How is adding features that people want (printing, air play, multitasking) manipulating the user?
