Find my iPhone works for me on iPhone 3G

I used my iPad to create my MobileMe account, verified the account and got Find my iPhone working on my iPad.

I then went to my iPhone 3G, downloaded the Find my iPhone app. Went into settings and added the MobileMe account with the login details I used on my iPad and bingo bango, it added the 3G iPhone and both work.

Hope that makes sense!

Yes you can. I've purchased a show from iPhone 4. If you purchase HD, it will (I'm pretty sure) download the SD to your iPhone 4 and it could Airplay to your ATV2. Later when you synch to iTunes, it will copy your SD version and will download the HD version to iTunes. I never purchase HD versions, as I simply don't care.

What makes you think this? What evidence are you relying on? So far as I can tell, my iphone 4 downloads the HD version. I rented a movie and it was 3.5gb, which I later Airplayed to my ATV. 3.5gb seems rather large for a SD version of it so I'm inclined to think your wrong. Perhaps the older idevices that couldn't do 720P would download the SD versions but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

I have to say 4.2 isn't the greatest update in terms of features (for the iPhone) but my iPhone 4 is MUCH snappier now. That alone makes this update awesome for me.

Netflix not pushing video to ATV2 via Airplay

I have updated to IOS 4.2 on ipod touch 8gb, v4.1 on ATV2 but can only get audio pushed from the Netflix app running on the Ipod.

I understood that Netflix was supposed to be able to push both video and audio.

Is there a Netflix update i have to wait for?

p.s. the youtube app pushes both audio and video OK

What if you purchase a show from an iPad? Is it going to be an SD or HD version? I am trying to figure out the best way to avoid having a Mac in the living room while being able to download TV shows from iTunes as they become available and send them to my HDTV connected to the ATV2. I do want it to be an HD version of the episode - otherwise, what's the point in having an HDTV and having the 720p capability in ATV2?

This is the same for PLEX and Klexi...both only stream audio to the Apple TV. Bummer!

I stand corrected it definitely sounds as if I'm wrong. Your the 2nd poster to note that it comes in as a HD. I do not purchase HD shows. I have downloaded free shows from Mac to iTunes in HD and it will download both the HD and the SD format.

Netflix can be accessed directly from AppleTV2. Unless you are at a friend's house and don't want to enter your Netflix account credentials into his/her AppleTV2, why not just use the Netflix App running on AppleTV2?

I can no longer stream Pandora or LastFM in my VW via iPod connection! This blows, I have an hour+20min drive to and from work. With 4.0 I could have playlists on my iPhone AND stream from both of those sources then with 4.1 that went away. I figured out that if I remove all of my music on the iPhone I could once again stream music from Pandora or LastFM.
Now that is gone with 4.2.
I'm really disappointed with that situation and the audio only streaming of content from my iPhone to my AppleTV.

Thanks for the reply.
I thought they were going to use that slider to adjust brightness. Would have been more useful in my case.
There are two sliders in this control, one for brightness and one for the sound level. The brightness slider is useful (I had put the settings app into the Dock just to have a faster access to the brightness slider).

Because want to use the VPN set up on my Ipod ;)

I'm looking forward to car stereos with airplay.

Was thinking the same thing. It might make car dvd players relevant again. Right now many of us parents simply hand our kids the iPhone to watch a show. How bout it 'airplay' to the car's video screen through the stereo? That will be cool. I say 'will' b/c I think it's inevitable.

I now have the new 4.2 iSO but I noticed just now, a day later, in iTunes that the update is 4.2.1..... I quess there was a issue with the 4.2.0 so they released the 4.2.1.

Updated my 3G last night. My home Mac is a Cube running 10.4 and therefore iTunes 9 something, as it won't run Leopard. So I had to down load the update first, then force iTunes to update. Get this. iOS 4.2 requires iTunes 10 which I can't run on my Cube. So I can't sync and therefore can't downgrade either. Hmmmm.

4.2.1 is the version that was released yesterday. There was never a public release of 4.2.

It always puzzles me that Apple provides better support for ancient Windows boxes than their own hardware. You can run iTunes 10 on XP SP3, but not on MacOS 10.4? Same thing with Bonjour--only on certain versions of MacOS X and up, OR you can just run the venerable Windows XP.

I think Steve-o loves Windows users best. Something perverse in his nature.

What happened to the 'swipe, delete' option in the email preview (at least for Gmail)? I don't want to archive, I want to delete! For that matter, where is the delete function altogether? Am I just dumb and not seeing it?

Update: Okay, it looks like you have to be in the Gmail folder and not the Inbox. What a pain!

Thats not new, that is a preference in your mail setting.... N00b. lol

Printing...

If you are going to bitch about not being able to print in this forum... Then you should really consider learning to read... On page 5 I posted instructions on how to get AirPrint to work...

Before doing anything.... Visit Gumballtech.com and get the "hacktivation" file. This is only valid for OS X. Not to concerned about winblows.

Then, begin.

First, share your printer(s).
Second, Turn WiFi "on" on your iPhone Pod or Pad.
Third, Print.

It is that easy.

AirPrint is working just fine for me on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPad. I have a Canon MP510 and a Samsung CLP-310, both show up, both print perfectly. Neither of the printers are WiFi. They are both connected to my primary computer and both are "shared" on the network.

Feel free to DM me or Email me for questions and or problems.
