Thats the weirdest thing Just the other day I was scrolling through a long webpage on my iphone thinking what a good feature text search would be and hey presto its one of the features of 4.2 and I didnt realise.

Wow. After finishing the iPhone I plugged in the iPod and it immediately found the update and is downloading now (esitmated 8 minutes). Way to go Apple!

No.

If you choose the "Update" option in iTunes, all of your Content (Apps, Music, Videos, Photos etc.) and Settings should be retained. Backing up everything is advised though (you can do that in iTunes).

I've not seen anywhere report that MobileMe Gallery is free.

Goto me.com on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Check 9to5mac.com as well.

Someone's flipped a switch over at the iTunes app store. My 4.2 iPad apps that were approved weeks ago suddenly are changing to "Processing for App Store". a few minutes ago.

They are getting ready to unleash 4.2 iApp updates.

Yup...for the most part. Though it's always nice to have an official build installed. Placebo effect for me i guess.

My iPad was on 4.2.1 and I was not notified about an update, but my iPhone was only on 4.2 and I got a pop telling me to update to 4.2.1.
