I contacted vodafone uk customer service on 191 and they told me Personal Hotspot uses your bundled data I.e. 1gb per month and no additional charges.

The only charge is if you go about your 1gb data allowance - 500mb is 5 pounds.

Maybe someone else can call and confirm they get the same answer?

To clarify, for O2, you need the internet tethering bolt-on, for 3-UK, it comes as standard, though you might want the internet package for £15.

:)

On 4.3? Far from simple, or free.
MyWi is free, if you have the right 'sources', :D but yeah, jailbreaking 4.3 is troublesome at the moment.

I'm using Personal Hotspot on my O2 iPhone, with the tethering bolt-on and it works a treat. Unfortunately, I stay away from videos, as the paltry 1GB(500MB default and 500MB bolt-on) Evaporates all to quickly over a month. :-(

Hot Spot

With 3 UK, it only comes as standard with The One Plan - not the other plans.

You can use the hot spot with any three plan, but it is only unlimited with the one plan.

I have just changed my handset from a HTC desire that has had this feature for sometime. I use three's app to monitor my usage and I also get a text when I am near my limit until I changed to the one plan where there is no limit.

I changed from O2 as they have a great 2g network but a very poor 3g network and its all about the HSDPA/3g what ever you want to call it.

Ditch Orange!

After losing quite a lot of my life on hold to Orange again, it turns out that Personal Hotspot 'doesn't work with their animals'. In effect I would have to pay double what I am paying them now to get it. T-Mobile however, have just said they are going to give me data and PH tethering included on a 30 day Sim only plan for a tenner a month! And as we know, they now share signal as part of Everything Everywhere. It's a no brainer really, so adios Orange morons!

OK so it was a little bit too good to be true...personal hotspot now set up with my new T-Mobile Sim, and all works well. Except it takes me to a screen asking me to pay £2 a day or £7 a week or £15 a month to use it! Ah well at least I have the option of occasional use which is all I needed it for. Maybe jail breaking is the next option!

o2 have new tarrifs, if you choose the 500mb or 1g plan tethering is free, Ive got it and it works very well, I just phoned up and got put on the new one simple!!

can be solved...

just reset your iphone by going setting - usage- reset-reset all

no app will be removed.. it is just your internet password .. you have to reinter after resetting...

enjoy..

Hmm ok. I'm getting it in my £10 per month PAYG :/

As I said before, inclusive tethering comes as standard only with The One Plan. With their other plans, their T&C state you should buy an add on. I'm not saying it wont work - just that is what they say.
