iOS 4 Due for Release Today

QUESTION: Since I'm downloading the software now and installing it to my 3Gs, when I have to update my parents' iPhone, do I have to download it again?

4.0 is up.. downloading it now (itunes doesn't say 4.0 is out though, used the Lite link.)

What do i do with the IPSW when its done downloading?

If you want the fastest you can get go look at a nexus one or htc evo. If you want elegance and grace, stick with iPhone.

Great... if its still the GM RC Version that means it still has the same stupid bugs that I've been dealing with all week. Good luck non-dev users. I hope you don't have your phone randomly restart when taking a picture or viewing your photos... there are still a number of wierd bugs... thats very odd that they didn't put out a new version...

Oh yeah, downloading now. Slow ass internet means it'll take about an hour. It came live at 12:06 here in Dallas. I'm so happy, I screamed for joy. It startled my wife.

Go to iTunes and hold alt while clicking update, then navigate to the ispw and iTunes will install it for you

I've been on the GM for at least a week and have had none of these issues on my 3G.
