So far so good. The download went ok and the backup didn't take too long (I had been doing a few backups in the past few days in preparation). It is now "Updating iPhone software".

I'm not getting iPod controls on the multitask tray. Am I mistaken? I thought that was one of the features since double tap doesn't bring them up anymore.

My backup started slow, but finished surprisingly quickly. Now verifying software after restoring from backup. iPhone 3G (not S)

Mine also seemed like it would take forever, it looked like it was progressing very slowly, from about 1% to 5% on the progress bar to look at it. And then a minute after the last time I checked, suddenly the backup was done. Took about 15-20 minutes in all. So for people who it looks like it's gonna take hours to backup, it may end up being a lot quicker.

Just a heads up, that iOS4 uses way way more battery, like it really kills your battery. I am getting something like 30% less battery now on my 3GS.

But hey, the faster camera is so damn nice!

Hmmm...I have been running the GM for 2 weeks now and I actually thought I was getting better battery life. I could be wrong though.

T-Mobile US still has issues with mms/picture messages with iOS 4. Oh well, was hoping it would fix it, but I think it is a TMobile issue.

You want Apple to help with your T-Mobile problem. If they could they would make them worse......

I think backup time is based on all kinds of weird things.

My 3G used to take 24 hours to backup, I upgraded from Vista 64 to Windows 7 64 a couple weeks ago and now it takes 2 to 3 mins tops for the phone to backup.

No clue exactly why it makes a difference, but there is no question that the OS change is what did it.

It used to take my phone so long to backup that I never did it. After switching to Windows 7, it takes less than a few minutes. I think you're right on your guess there.

I've been stuck in the backup phase for over 50 minutes now and it's still sitting about about 5-10% complete. Never has it sped up. I backup 2x a week. I backed up just before installing this too.

just when the back up was done and the progress screen and the apple logo appeared on my phone it gave an "unexpected error" so tell me iTunes, which error is expected?

so anyways now iTunes doesn't see my device and it is stuck on the progress screen even though i unplug it.

I think this is called "bricking" i am not sure though. What should i do?

i really like the places feature in 4.0 photos id love the faces feature but its mac only :( damn you mac owners!!!! :p
