is anyones backup taking a week to download. the update took 10 mins, then i waited another 10 just for the backup to even show a green mark in the download bar, i x'ed out the backup then started the update over because apparently the update didnt do anything once i x'ed out of the backup. now it went straight to back up instead of re downloading the ios 4..its still taking forever to download. is anyone else having trouble with this?

+1

I did the exact same thing as you. Have you gotten any further? The progress bar on mine is barely showing any green and it's been like 45 to 50 minutes! At this rate, it really will take a week!

Activation Fail

This took longer than usual. The phone sat like this for a few minutes then finally confirmed activation about as soon as I took the screenshot. :D

exactly..If you do your normal periodic backup's it wont take as long. If not, you just have to be patient

I beg to differ. I backup everyday and it usually finishes in a couple of minutes. But this time it is different. It has been 40+ minutes and still not half way through.

I know us 3G owners are now "last century", but honestly, they couldn't even enable us to change the home screen wallpaper? How is the 3G's hardware not capable of that? Multitasking, I understand, but common now.

I know right? I thought we'd be able to do this. I'm disappointed.

Just a heads up, that iOS4 uses way way more battery, like it really kills your battery. I am getting something like 30% less battery now on my 3GS.

But hey, the faster camera is so damn nice!

Give it a few days, and a reset or two. Your battery life will be just fine. Mine did the same thing for a few days after GM4 was on my phone, then it adjusted and was fine.

Volume!

This update gives you the option to adjust volume to bluetooth speakers. before this i was at the mercy of having to talk over to my speakers but not i have options.

Well I thought things where going to well, I first had to reset my DSL connection. pulled all the files off of my touch so there is only about 800 megs on it, why is it taking so long to back up just about nothing:confused: so much for the fast download.:(

Same problem here.. I've waited almost an hour and it hasn't even made it halfway... I backup all the time and even backed up about four times today already before the update. This is frustrating.

A) 4.0 runs fine on my 3GS. Some of it is certainly eye candy but it seems as smooth as 3.1.3 was.

B) iBooks iTunes page was momentarily updated to reflect 1.1, with iPhone/iPod Touch support, but the link/download was to the older version 1.0.1. The iTunes page has gone back to just the iPad 1.0.1.
Edit: It's showing 1.1 again but still downloading 1.0.1.

Yes you do goof. You use iTunes and it open software update.... OMG know your stuff before you comment.

no. you are wrong. sorry.

iTunes does not open software update. you can see right in the photo that iTunes says there's an update available and to click Update to install 4.0. it's really not complicated.

Software Update is for Mac software. Not iOS. Don't insult people when you're obviously missing basic concepts yourself.

Airplane mode

Also iPod touch users now have airplane mode. im not sure how useful that will be but its nice to pretend were like an iphone
