I don't know if this is part of that Nuance voice thingy but iOS 5 can now speak text selection and auto-correct. If you go to accessibility, you can check "speak selection", and when you highlight text, like to copy, there is a button to speak. It is the same lady as voice over.

So just so I'm understanding correctly, there is still no "quick reply" feature for text messages? It simply sends you to the app when you swipe the notification (either in notification center or when it first comes in at the top)?

In iOS4 A2DP is included for music over bluetooth. Many carkits support the profile, but many people run into problems because of it, judging by the posts on various forums.

The sound quality through A2DP is far inferior compared to a usb-connection, so I use a usb cable to listen to my music. When a call is received, the phone switches over to bluetooth, which is fine. But once the call is ended, the phone doesn't switch back to usb-connection for music (or navigation), no sound is heard. I have to end it by either disconnecting and reconnecting the cable, or by selecting a toggle in the ipod-app. Very annoying, for 4 years I have never jailbroken an iPhone, but now I have, in order to be able to use this nifty little app called "Bluetooth Profile", which enables me to disable A2DP for my carkit.

Does anybody know if iOS5 supports modifying bluetooth profiles natively?

No quick reply, but it's so quick now you wouldn't notice not having it

But once you've owned an iPhone for a few days, your mind adapts to "look for iPod." It becomes just as natural. How often would another person pick up your iPhone to find Music compared to the number of times you do it. There's no difference whether you're looking for "iPod" or "Music".

If you have an iPhone and an iPod Touch (or iPad) it would get confusing since the others don't have an iPod app.

It's not "useless" or a "dumb little thing Apple forgot about"

Its there intentionally, to sell you magazines. It can't be put in a folder, so the most you can do is hide it on the last page.

Do you have any idea how hard the publishers (one or more of them) had to lobby to get this there? This is HUGE for them, as it will sell hundreds of thousands of subscriptions ultimately, all by itself.

it is just my opinion that they could have implemented this better or at least given us the option to hide it somehow and I don't mean hiding it on the last home page. I understand that for apple though this means big $$$

You can set emails to show on the lock screen if that's what you mean... I'm sure it's in the 'notification' settings.

No, it isn't. Text, voicemail, and calendar alerts can show on the lock screen, but not emails. (Prove me wrong! :))

I don't need to see the messages. I would just like a simple display such as...

Inbox (1)
Messages (4)
Voicemail (2)

This is one thing that Blackberry has over the iPhone. C'mon Apple, this is an easy one. Fix it.

Um, email does show on the lock screen...

First of all, I have a non-jb Verizon iPhone 4 and a 4th Gen iPod Touch. In neither of them is there an option in Notifications for Mail and showing it on the Lock screen.

You can now delete individual calls now
You can turn off badge app icon which means I can still get notifications from an app but dont have to have to open it up now to get rid of that red number - flatfoot99
App Store Downloads now download concurrently, instead of one at a time like on iOS 5.
Ability to create keyboard shortcuts (autotext) to replace custom phrases. The default entry is “omw” which is replaced with, “On my way!”
When syncing with iTunes you can use the device normally ‚ no more syncing screen!

My favorites. There are some really awesome minor features/changes in iOS 5!

I have a Verizon iPhone 4 with iOS 5 and the mail notification shows up on the lock-screen for me, everything works as it should. Unfortunately, I don't know why it's not working for you.

Since iOS5 isn't public yet, I don't have it.

I see now that iOS5 is supposed to have this:
"Ability to customize how notifications in Notification Center look — you can customize how many recent ones to show, 1, 5 or 10, if it’s showed in the lock screen, if it’s in Notification Center, and also the alert style, banner or alert style."

Is this the screenshot posted above? If not, can someone post one? Thanks!

I noticed another thing, I was showing my friend what an unlocked phone does, and when doing so I had him call my phone with a different SIM card. I noticed something however, the city of the caller is now shown. I tried this using my mom's phone running 4.0 and it did not show up, so this is another handy feature of iOS 5! :D

I'm not sure if it's from land lines only, or mobile also, but I've been getting city listings on calls since at least 4.2

Does anyone know how to transfer a folder that I made in the Photos app to the computer?

its part of it. basically you can choose what apps notify you in what way. you can set some apps to not notifiy at all, some to just notify in notification center, or just lock screen, or both and the notifications can be banners like the new fold down style or old style alerts that stop you. see the pic for the options

That's great. Thanks.

Guess I'll have to wait until September, I but I'm happy to know it's coming!

Will they be allowing easy reordering of mailboxes in iOS5?

Drat! Everyone was too quick to prove you wrong...

Although I think I get what you're looking for. You don't want individual notifications - You just want [Email 2] on the lock screen, right?

Anyway, glad to see you're happy with what's coming! :D
