Is anybody else having a problem updating OTA with an iPad 2 (GSM)? After the download, I initialize the installation and then my iPad goes blank, and a few minutes later displays the iTunes icon and informs me that it has gone into recovery mode. Any way around this?

I have gotten that issue as well. And I restored for a backup that was 4 days old that didn't have the issue, and since then I haven't got that prompt. Something must've happened to it at some point... reverted to the older backup fixed it.

I'm having this same issue with iPad 2 and iPhone 4

I let my iPad sit for like 15 minutes while plugged into iTunes and it just started working strangely. Once you get the "Restore" or "Start new", click start new, press next and when it starts doing its thing, unplug the iPad to interrupt it and then plug it back in. That fixed it for me. An earlier poster said this was their fix and it worked for me

They must have something special in mind for it eventually because I noticed its one of the only apps that you can't bury in a folder. Typically I hide all the lame default apps by stuffing them in a folder but you can't do that with News stand....I wonder why not?...

Yea it's called selling out to rag subscriptions. Why is Newsstand the only item that can't be moved off the home screen? Because some publisher(s) negotiated that term with Apple. The point is to keep it in your face, subconsciously pushing you to actually use it. Notice how annoying it is, just sitting there empty? The hope is that it will drive up sales of worthless magazines and similar publications. No one wants those things, and no one ever pays for them. They get browsed through at doctors offices, and on peoples coffee tables. No one buys them, subscribes, for their pure content, except a few thousand people (basically nothing) per rag.

Old school magazines are DOA when it comes to digital...they'll just have to find out the hard way.

No issues here updating iPhone 4 or iPad 2, both OTA. Do things properly. Update iTunes first.

And Newstand is a folder in itself though.

They dropped the voice confirmation for voice dialing. That will cause issues down the road.

I been having the restore or setup as new issue since beta 5 started. Redo every single thing and and it works for a day or so and then goes back to that issue. Even setup everything from scratch.

i hate when people post the BGR as a changelog and issues

i still have yet to see it mention an issue with the ipod app on the ipad (original) where when you use the sort by Artists... if you have multiple albums of songs, on the 2nd listed album onwards you cannot play the song by selecting it... (unless it's the first song in the album) it will 99% of the time play the first song in the album and 1% of the time play the song that's 2 selections later

it's been an issue from version beta 1 and has not yet been fixed - drives me crazy

What I did was actually give up on wireless syncing. I sync my iPhone every morning with my daily list of podcasts for my drive to/from work anyway, so a tethered sync is no big deal for me. Anyway, once I did a restore from backup and everything was working fine (while my iPhone 4 was still tethered to my iMac, that is), I unchecked the wireless sync checkbox and synced once again. After that, every time I plug in my iPhone, it works as expected. I don't know if I'm going to try the wireless sync thing with iOS beta 6 - I admit I don't want to go through the whole restore from backup thing, although I did just take a local backup, just in case ..... :D

You need Instacast. It'll save you the hassle and do all that automatically. Plus the player is better than the iPod app's.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm afraid I'm a bit old-fashioned and would rather do it myself. I don't have that big of a list anyway, plus it only takes a couple of minutes.

I am curious, however. How may of us sync, like myself, daily? If not, how often do you sync your iPhone? As I mentioned before, I sync daily, so a tethered sync is no big deal. After I get up and take a shower, my wife brings me breakfast in my computer room, so I'm at my iMac where I sync my iPhone. Therefore, I tether as it's just as easy as untethered.

For those who don't sync daily, what is your iPhone usage pattern? I'm not trying to be nosy, but am just curious.

Like a stupid bird chirping. :p

Like a whistle. Which almost got me in trouble at work. Cleaning lady was at a desk in front of me and bent over to pick something up just as someone text me.

Was not a friendly glare after that. Had to explain.

Router or not

Heres a thought.

Do you need a wireless router to sync wirelessly to your iMac or does it use the same technology for Airdrop to sync and create its own wireless connection?

Anyone know?

To use Airdrop you need to be on same wireless network or to create "Ad-hoc" between to devices.
Allmost the same with an iPhone and iMac:
1. If both devices are on same wi-fi it syncs.
2. No router? Enable connectionsharing on your IOS device, connect to that network with your iMac's airport and it syncs wirelessly ;)

When I went to the software update I'm settings the download page that popped up was for beta 5 and not beta 6. Did anyone get this too? The size of the update is consistent with what everyone else got (144mb for AT&T iPhone 4).

Same for me as I never installed Beta 5 due to the bad feedback.
However after installing it did indeed install Beta 6. It is just a bug.

Be careful however, I lost all my 20,000 text messages on my phone during the upgrade.
Downloaded IPSW directly and restored with backup via that and not OTA - still cannot retrieve my messages. Really really annoyed about that.

All my apps are greyed and stuck with 'Waiting...' below them. Syncing them with iTunes shows as syncing them one by one in iTunes but nothing changed on the phone. I'll try to mess a bit more with them, maybe uncheck them and then check them or sync again but so far... arghh!:(

Anybody had issues with their apps simply not working?

I went to provision an app I've been working on to my ipad, and it seems to launch and then immediately brings me back to the home screen. I decided to try this with a commercial app, the kindle one. it does the same thing. I tried with several others, no dice.

I then tried to restore my ipad, which gave me an error that I couldn't put that build onto this ipad.

Anybody have any thoughts? This is an ipad1, 3g 16gb. I'm using it specifically for software development of aviation applications.

oh, and the integrated apple apps work perfectly fine.

Is anyone elses' iTunes beta 6 crashing on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8?
For some oddly reason yesterday, i was playing some music for at least 15 minutes, then it would suddenly crash and i would have to reopen iTunes again... it's really frustrating

actually you don't need to be on the same wifi. i have done it a few times when one of my computers was using my mifi and the other was on my home network.

This was covered a number of times, previously. I had the same issue a few betas ago. Have you updated to the latest iTunes beta? Did you install and sync everything in the order described in the release notes?

running smootly

for me this beta runs much much smootly on 3gs, maybe we are getting to the finish line boys!

Yeah, on my Core Duo iMac 1.83... :-(

Does anyone else with a GSM iPhone 4 running this beta have issues with activating Notification Center? I did an OTA update from Beta 5, and I realized I was having this issue, so in an attempt to correct the problem, I did a full restore on iTunes to this beta and set up as new, and not before long the same problem was persisting. So is this issue widespread?

Not that problem specifically but I'm having a notification center problem with emails. My phone will vib and ring when an email comes in, but my screen doesn't light up nor does it appear on the lock screen or notification center

After paying for instacast I haven't been able to sync any of my ESPN Podcasts, I have 3 of them and they are the ones I listen to most. I've tried subscribing right through the app, by using URL, from my iPod... nothing works it never recognizes any new ESPN podcasts.. or old ones either. I've sent several messages to the developer but never got a response.
