What bugs are people still finding? The issues I'm having isn't with iOS Beta 5 itself but the apps i'm using and that's because they're written for iOS 4

Windows wi-fi sync is very unstable. When it works it is great but I get a lot of errors from it that require restarting iTunes.

There is no chance b6 is coming out today. Even if they were originally planning to release it today, which I doubt since they have all been at the end of the week, after that rumor they would release it on another day just to throw people off.

There is not that much of a time crunch that it needs to come out now.

Is this on an iPhone or iPad? I've had big problems like you mentioned but on my iPad only.

Both. The iPad is worse though. Even on the iPhone though sometimes the wifi sync will report that it cannot sync, but then iTunes will get stuck in cancelling sync and the only way to clear it is restart iTunes... then on restart often "sync over WiFi" won't be checked anymore so I will have to cable the phone up to re-check it. Some stuff like that Apple is just going to have to get working more reliably before they are ready for a GM release. I think a lot of these issues are more on the iTunes side then the iOS side, but they are released together.

Hoping for a new Beta today and seeing if things are better.

if it does hit today, what time should we expect it ? It seems that is usually around 5 EST..

hey guys I'm new to this but i hope they release it today that'd be great how many betas are there usually before the GM ? or is it always completely different

iOS 5 Beta 6

I have found that Beta 4 works better than Beta 5 in many ways. None of the Betas have really impacted my battery life too much, but instead they have majorly impacted many apps (as others have said, mainly the apps that use the camera roll). On top of that, I have had a problem with syncing my iDevices with iTunes. When I plug them in, it makes me restore them from a backup every time instead of recognizing it as a device that has been plugged in many times before. Its getting really annoying and i am hoping there will be a fix for that. Also, the iPod app on my iPad seems to be very temperamental. Hoping Beta 6 will be a much better build. I guess we will see! By the way, judging by the pictures of the release date that was built into Beta 5, the line says "2011-08-18T22:40:37" Could the 22:40 be a time and refer to 10:40pm? This said, who know what time zone this is in...

it has been somewhere between 4 and 8 betas for iOS 2, 3, and 4... we are in the range for iOS 5 GM to come out any time now... i'm guessing 7 betas with the GM in mid September.

There have been a handful of apps where the developer fixed some bugs for iOS 5 users, but they aren't actual fixes because developers still can't use the iOS 5 SDK to fix iOS 5 bugs until the GM is released. So any time a developer says they fixed iOS 5 bugs in their app, they used the iOS 4 SDK to do so. It may work better with iOS 5, but until the iOS 5 SDK is released when the GM comes out, the app doesn't "officially" support iOS 5.

Yeah I understand this :) check out their wording, I liked this hehehe

I'm pretty sure there hasn't been more than 4 before they released a GM. Looks like this one needs longer in the beta period anyway.

iPhone OS 2 went through 8 betas before the GM. Mostly due to it being a huge upgrade, with the App Store and stuff. I'll be quire surprised if this doesn't have at least two more betas.
