And if anyone does that, please be sure to return the courtesy of actually testing and reporting detailed and honest feedback. Don't just glom on get something for nothing.

I've just signed up for some betas, hopefully I get chosen.

I would happily give a Developer some beta testing time for the favour of registering my UDID so I can try out iOS 5 for myself. It'd be the least I could do, and it'd be pretty cool to actually get some pre-release apps and feel like I'm making a contribution to someones work.

Cracks me up. We go through this every time. Lots of band-wagon jumpers that load the first freakin beta and then complain, complain, complain.

It's been said a million times - if you depend on a device, don't load beta software on it.

What really slays me is these same geniuses won't touch a JB with a 10 foot pole even though it's rock solid on 4.3.3 and the JB community has had most of the cool features of iOS 5 for years.

So you're busy developing now? ;)

If only I wasn't . I work for logistics company, we are deving an app initially just to track consignments, but we have grander ideas. We believe we one of the first in the UK to do it. I kind shot my mouth off and said yeah i can build an iphone app with out really having ever attempted, so now learning very fast, but if i am honest, I took advantage of the dev program to play with IOS 5, i see it as a perk for all the agro of building an iPhone app.

Is anybody running it on an iPad 2, do the new multi touch gestures work multitasking. I have a first gen and they don't seem to work, can't find anything in the release notes, but it is mentioned on the apple iOS 5 page. Has anyone tested this, would be interested to know

Stupid question. Did you create a new Apple ID to access iCloud or were you able to use you MobileMe account?

Mobile me accounts don't yet work, you can use your current apple id or create a new one. Apple have said you will be able to marry up your apple id with your mobile me account near launch

Does apply to just the .me accounts? I tried my old .Mac account it said that it's already configured, but there is not user information listed? Strange...

PS

I am in the process of installing on my iPad one now. Will let you know if the gestures work. Do see why not though, I have them working in 4.3.3

Nice that you can use different apple ids for different features. This way I can share an id for sync of music with my wife, but have a different id for imessages.

its only the new gestures for multi tasking, apparently you can access the multitask bar and swipe between apps, well according to the apple website, but it wont work on my ipad 1. were these in 4.3, did i miss this little nugget. i hate having to double push the button so welcome them, if only it worked

My name is Campbell and I am actually a human being that does not like being referred to as the Other Person.

You have not personally done anything wrong, I figured that I would mention it because I see that the majority of people on the internet refer to Human Beings as inanimate objects when they use the term OP so freely vs taking the time to acknowledge that the OP is a actual person not a fictitious entity. Personally speaking I think its wrong that people do this by removing the barrier which de-souls a person on the internet.

Just thought I would mention it, once again you did not do anything wrong. I think you and I are operating on the same wave length so I would imagine that you understand the point I am trying to convey.

I had a whole entire reply typed out for you, by the time I submitted it 5 minutes later, it timed out and I lost everything...

Basically what I attempted to reiterate for you was that I meant "Original Poster" not Other Person.

I then went on to mention about UCC and Straw-men as far as your reference to us as Persons or People, two legal or contract terms used in Law and Government towards us Sovereigns.
BTW is Campbell as such on your Birth Certificate(certificate of manifest) or is it in all capital letters, such as on your drivers license and insurance papers or any legal contracts you may have had in life, was it issued by the Doctor (DOCk) following your Birth (berth), or is it just your surname given by your parents as a Sovereign Human Being? Is your birth date also on that certificate, and do you celebrate it each year because you clearly remember being born that day, or only because legally its your birth date and its what everyone else has told you it was growing up and appears on that certificate?

If we are on the same wavelength, that will all make sense as well.

You need to enable them in Settings. In 4.3.3 you had to turn on using XCODE, but it's built into 5.0. I am now able to five finger pinch to get to home screen, four finger pinch to view the multi-task bar, etc.

They were present for me on the iPad 1 on 4.3.3, but have stopped working with beta 1 installed. I have no options for them in settings either.

cheers Kdog, and just to confirm thats working on your ipad 1 or 2 under 5?

The multitouch gestures are present in the iOS 5 beta running on my iPad 2. They were also turned on by default. Loving the notifications window. So smooth!

Best of luck. It can be quite rewarding.

Well that's a little far out there man...LOL...but yes Campbell is my First Name which is written on the Ten Commandments on my Mother Uncles side Twice Removed by 3 degrees parallel to the sun:D in accordance with OSHA Regulations.....Naturally:eek:

Never was or will be.
unless you're jailbroken and save your shsh blobs.

You're both incorrect. Just did it today on iPhone 4 and I do not JB.

The method I used was to use two systems; one running Lion, the other SL.

I backed up my phone on the SL machine, plugged into the Lion machine and upgraded. Ran it all day today with iOS 5 noting the problems. Then tonight, I plugged it back into the Lion machine, restored to 4.3.3 and hooked back up to the SL machine and restored from backup.

I wasn't attempting to answer his question with 100% accuracy. Spreading methods like that in threads like this where there will be lots of new, not tech saavy users, is a bad idea. For someone who has to ask that question the answer is "no."
