Well, I've been running iOS5 for about 4 hours now. A couple of things I've noticed. It's an extremely stable build, I've had a few hiccups. Battery life is so-so which what I expected with Beta 1. It's actually similar to iOS4 Beta 1 in battery life. My only real question is that is anybody receiving notifications on the lock screen for email? I have my MobileMe account setup and upon receipt of an email it won't show up on the lock screen. Didn't know if this was supposed to happen or not. Really besides that I have no complaints. All my current apps seem to be working, notification center rocks, and twitter integration is flawless. Any questions shoot them my way.

Emails don't show up for me either (using gmail or my new me.com iCloud address) on the lock screen, but they are there in the Notification Center.

Shows just fine.

Not sure I understand. What does "more alert choices" mean? More alert tones, or what?

And does anyone know if I can finally select a playlist for an alarm?

Yes, you can now choose any of the SMS alerts for Mail, Mail sent, etc. There is also a link to a notification tone store to buy more tones.

No you cannot choose a playlist for an alarm, it's just the same old tones, but again there is a link to buy more new tones.

how did it take?

I just signed up into the developers program yesterday. I picked up the $99 iOS about 12 hours ago. I would have thought i would have gotten my email by now but i still haven't.

Anyone else in the same situation?

Thanks!

Mine are showing up in the notification center just not on the lockscreen. Also, does anyone know if you start a new Apple ID can you set up iCloud and receive email through that?

I don't see why not, why would you want a new ID though as you would lose access to all your purchases...

Currently you can't sign into iCloud with a MobileMe account. Mine won't let me. I was going to test it out. If you start a new Apple ID and sign into iCloud what would your e-mail address be exactly?

I'm loving the notifications but I don't like how if you unlock the screen and then lock it again, all your notifications disappear from the lock screen. I would like them to stay there until I have viewed or cleared them myself. Hopefully Apple will be adding some more options relating to notifications.

Got this on the 4th gen iPod touch. It's surprisingly solid for a first beta. Currently using the device as I did on 4.3.3 with no nasty surprises yet. I would file bugs but I'm yet to find any lol.

Well my Apple ID is my Gmail account and it lets you create a brand new me.com email, which is also linked to the account. So you can sign in with either email. Also RE the email notifications, I've just realised you need to go to Settings -> Notifications -> Mail to add them to the lock screen

Got it, that fixed. I actually never looked in that tab. Their is a TON of customization possibility there. Thanks for the tip! Are we actually missing anything by not being to sign into iCloud right now until Apple completes the migration of MobileMe accounts?

Anybody had any issue manualy adding music through iTunes 10.5, mine is very slow, and once you have started adding a selection you have to wait until its finished copying before adding more or iTunes just gives up the ghost, if you are lucky, it sometimes just gives an error saying it can't find the file. This only happens when it is already in the process of loading music onto the phone and you try to add more. It has never been issue in the past. i like to mange music manually as i have so much of it. having had several iPhone 4s through one issue and another, this process is usually quite quick, but today it has taken well over an hour and half to copy 14gb of music.

Apart from this, got running on both I phone 4 and IPad 1, the notification centre is great. I hope they will allow other widgets on there other than stocks and weather, wouldn't mind a Facebook and some sort of news headlines, but thats just me

PS for anyone who has signed up to the dev program today, mine took nearly a week to come through, so do not bet on getting it today if you have only just signed up.

Not really, I've only used it to mess about with photo stream. I attempted to back up my phone to the servers but it said it was going to take 3 hours so I gave up. Also the new me.com address works fine on iPhone & iPad for emails but there's no webmail... I guess that will be coming with the full release but for now if you sign into MobileMe from a browser it just goes to Find My iPhone

Mmmmm. Can't wait to install. I work on an iOS app and have a developer account, so this should be fun. Aside from the obvious benefits of iCloud (I was / am a MobileMe subscriber), I'm actually most interested in the split-screen keyboard on the iPad.

Well, ok, there's 3 things. I'm also psyched about non-modal alerts. Anyone else sick of getting an alert they have to manually dismiss when they are using their Navigation app of choice? There could not be a more annoying use case. Really? I needed to know my friend re-tweeted my Aqua Teen Hunger Force quote when I need to navigate rush hour into the Holland Tunnel? The timing, as they say, could be better.

I can confirm: Notifications and the split keyboard are both AMAZING.

Tested with Angry Birds, MLB playing video, while typing...so nice to not get hijacked anymore! Don't have an ipad but that's the first I've seen of the split keyboard. Looks really cool.
