But what constitutes a real developer?
Real developers code on typewriters, man. And they sure as heck don't like common folk using their beta software!
But what constitutes a real developer?
Well, I've been running iOS5 for about 4 hours now. A couple of things I've noticed. It's an extremely stable build, I've had a few hiccups. Battery life is so-so which what I expected with Beta 1. It's actually similar to iOS4 Beta 1 in battery life. My only real question is that is anybody receiving notifications on the lock screen for email? I have my MobileMe account setup and upon receipt of an email it won't show up on the lock screen. Didn't know if this was supposed to happen or not. Really besides that I have no complaints. All my current apps seem to be working, notification center rocks, and twitter integration is flawless. Any questions shoot them my way.

Not sure I understand. What does "more alert choices" mean? More alert tones, or what?
And does anyone know if I can finally select a playlist for an alarm?
Emails don't show up for me either (using gmail or my new me.com iCloud address) on the lock screen, but they are there in the Notification Center.
Mine are showing up in the notification center just not on the lockscreen. Also, does anyone know if you start a new Apple ID can you set up iCloud and receive email through that?Shows just fine.

I don't see why not, why would you want a new ID though as you would lose access to all your purchases...
Currently you can't sign into iCloud with a MobileMe account. Mine won't let me. I was going to test it out. If you start a new Apple ID and sign into iCloud what would your e-mail address be exactly?
Well my Apple ID is my Gmail account and it lets you create a brand new me.com email, which is also linked to the account. So you can sign in with either email. Also RE the email notifications, I've just realised you need to go to Settings -> Notifications -> Mail to add them to the lock screen
Got it, that fixed. I actually never looked in that tab. Their is a TON of customization possibility there. Thanks for the tip! Are we actually missing anything by not being to sign into iCloud right now until Apple completes the migration of MobileMe accounts?
On the lockscreen or notification center?
Mmmmm. Can't wait to install. I work on an iOS app and have a developer account, so this should be fun. Aside from the obvious benefits of iCloud (I was / am a MobileMe subscriber), I'm actually most interested in the split-screen keyboard on the iPad.
Well, ok, there's 3 things. I'm also psyched about non-modal alerts. Anyone else sick of getting an alert they have to manually dismiss when they are using their Navigation app of choice? There could not be a more annoying use case. Really? I needed to know my friend re-tweeted my Aqua Teen Hunger Force quote when I need to navigate rush hour into the Holland Tunnel? The timing, as they say, could be better.
I can confirm: Notifications and the split keyboard are both AMAZING.
edit: how about downgrading from 5 to 4.3.3 ? is it still possible?
Never was or will be.
