I'll make it easy for them. Implement the following 3 things, and I won't feel the need to jailbreak anymore.

1. SBSettings
2. BiteSMS
3. LockInfo

If OS5 can incorporate everything that 3 these jailbreak apps do, then I will be a very happy man.

1. Notification system is fine the way it is right now

2. Live icons - you mean like weather?

3. Not really a request, more of an accommodation...

Mine are:

1. Improved battery performance (not saying it's bad right now, but I know they will manage to squeeze in a few more hours)

2. More RAM

3. 4 in screen

2 and 3 are hardware and have nothing to do with iOS5

I would love to see:

1)wireless syncing to Mac/PC
2)accessible file system
3)Tabbed browsing in Safari AND the ability to install modules/extensions similar to those found in iCab.

If I could have a 4th feature I would love to see:
A clipboard, intergrated into the IOS that holds multiple clips. Copying and pasting one item at a time on a touch-screen is a tedious process.

1) Ability to queue songs in the default iPod app - such a basic feature, but I am desperate for it

2) Customizable lockscreen, options to add widgets and such things

3) Customizable themeing of the UI, or possibly a revamp instead (or both).

Unfortunately, I'm not overly confident on either 3..however I have my fingers crossed ;)

1) True screen rotation support
2) Rotation Lock or Vibrate Mode system preference for the hardware button
3) Quick SMS reply

What I would most like to see in iOS5 is the ability of the Operating System to update itself by changing only the revised code, and not having to download the whole half a Gigabyte a dozen times over it's year odd long life.

Notifications are the fine the way they are? Are we both using an iPhone?

Everything you stated were hardware upgrades.

1. An android style lock which can replace the pin code in all instances

Those lockscreens are incredibly simple to get through because of the residue left by ones fingers. Tapping separately eliminates this as it's impossible to know the order you tapped in.

What would you use mobile Xcode for, there is no real purpose?

Assuming that actually happens (though it doesn't on my screen) you wouldn't know which way my pattern goes, how many times it repeats, or if it goes the same direction throughout the entire pattern. You can go back, forward, back again, repeat, etc. Just because you can't pick up your finger from the screen while drawing it doesn't mean it's less secure than the pin lock.

And again, residue? Maybe if unlocking my phone is ALL I ever did on the screen, sure. Come try it on my phone sometime. If you unlock it, it's yours.

I thought you could put together an on-the-go playlist and play that. Just keep adding songs to it.
Here's and article about it, but I remember you could do it since 2008...

Oh right, thanks. I'm not too familiar with it but I hoping something where you could literally queue a song, then after it's done it continues on in shuffle, then you can queue a few more songs etc.. I don't believe the on the go playlist allows this. Some people will say it's not issue/just press the song whatever but it really annoys me :p

There is an app called "instant queue" and it's perfect, though it doesn't sync iTunes playcount unfortunately (which I find annoying, otherwise I wouldn't care but hey.. :p)

1. Much improved notification system
2. Live icons - that display information
3. Free turn-by-turn navigation with all bells and whistles of a gps app with offline support, just download a map for any city or country and use it offline.

+1

For those of us that practice good hygiene, its an impossibility to break the lock code visually. If that's not of interest, the other choice one is given is to choose the numeric password screen. Android comes with a long list of extra features, far more than the competition.

1. A filesystem
2. Better notification system
3. New UI
4. Adobe Flash Player
5. Queue for apps, songs, and movies.
6. OTA Updates

Individual updates for stock Apple applications. Why in the world do Maps, Stocks, YouTube, Mail, etc. only get updated once a year? And if there are bug fixes that come out for these apps why in the world must I download a full version number update? Why can't I update each of these apps individually the way I can for all my Mac OS X applications and all non-Apple apps from the app store?

As far as I know your pattern can as long as you can make it but it cant 'repeat' by using the same dots twice. As for direction, there are really only 2 possibilities. As for the residue, are you trying to tell me that you can use your phone all day and not leave a mark on the display? No? That's what I thought.

I do have good hygiene, and I assure you it is not impossible. Those of us that practice a compulsive addiction for cleaning their phone screens will not have this problem, but most people only clean their screen once in a while.

But after you unlock your phone you unlock your phone you use it correct. Thus adding more smudges making it unreadable.

Depending on what you do, yes it would smudge over the pattern, but not every time. I'm not saying this is a going to be a risk evety time you unlock your phone, I'm just saying it's a weakness in the security of the lockpattern

A non-instrusive notification system would be my main request, but you won't see GPS/turn by turn maps on iOS as standard like Google provide on Android. Why? Because Apple sell TomTom, Navigon, and Co-Pilot Sat Nav apps for very good money on the App Store. For example, TomTom UK & Ireland is the third biggest grossing paid Navigation app on the UK store, costing £49.99.

Apple get 30% of every app sold, so for every copy of TomTom that's sold (in the UK), Apple take £14.99 ... so you can say cheerio to a free turn-by-turn maps/GPS app in iOS5 in my opinion.

I'd like to see a change to how the multi-tasking bar is opened. I know there's the multi-touch gestures you can activate if you Jailbreak, but surely the iPhone could have two finger gestures implemented in place of four fingers (like on iPad) due to the screen size (I don't want a bigger screen on the iPhone personally).

A third "feature"? How about properly optimised code that doesn't make the iPhone 4 run sluggish? In all seriousness though, WiFi syncing would be nice. Again, I know it's available if you jailbreak but costs $10.

Apple makes more money by selling more phones than by making money of apps.

It's starting to sound like maybe you haven't used an Android lock. You can repeat dots. You can go backwards. You can switch directions more than once mid-pattern. You would have no way to tell which dot I started on and which dot I ended on.

Furthermore by your own logic: I unlock my phone and leave residue on the screen. After I unlock it, what do I do next? I use my phone, which remember, by YOUR logic, leaves residue on the screen. So please, for everyone here, explain how you see the difference between where I left the lock screen pattern and where I left the frantic back/forth swipes I made during an intense game of fruit ninja. I for one would love to hear the explanation.
