iPad 3,3 Notes

So this is what I've noticed on my GSM 32gb iPad 3 so far.

  • Siri is much quicker and doesnt bug out so often
  • She seems to understand me better when there is background noise
  • Still no location based reminder :(
  • Safari seems faster when displaying pages
  • Shared photo streams is finally available (wasn't even listed in settings before)
  • Home sharing is working again (previously required a reboot to see other libraries, and could not stream from them)
  • 'Purchased' tab in iTunes still says it is not available yet on iOS6
  • World clock displays the weather more quickly from force quit
  • I can no longer tap on MTA subway stations. Previously tapping on an icon would bring up its street address with an info thing, but sadly no more. Hopefully they'll add a schedule thing in future releases.
  • Now after pressing 'Start' on Maps directions, Siri starts her VoiceOver (not previously working)
  • Not sure if this is new, but while navigating the status bar turns turquoise, and allows you to touch to return to navigation if you swap to a different app
  • Maps are definitely loading more quickly and scrolling is marginally smoother
  • Some apps (Safari in particular) open more quickly with less delay
  • Still no cool changing sliders like the ones on the iPhone in the Music app :(
  • Traffic data in NYC seems more accurate
  • The App Store is much faster, I think it might end up being quicker than in 5.1.1 despite all the nice big icons
  • Currently on AT&T LTE and there's an option to turn a personal hotspot. Not sure if it works though. It just asks me to contact AT&T to set it up
  • Image uploading in Safari or Google Chrome is more stable, the browser no longer crashes

All in all I'm looking forward to the final release of this.

I have read it modmyi that you cannot downgrade to iOS 5

Devices updated to iOS 6 beta can not be restored to earlier versions of iOS. Registered development devices will be able to upgrade to future beta releases and the final iOS 6 software.

I can 100% confirm that you CAN downgrade to iOS5 from iOS6 betas. I have done this myself.

Can somebody in Germany with an iPhone 4S please test if local search and navigation is available with Siri? What about movie times, sports scores etc.?

Texting

Anyone else mentioned texting yet? I can receive texts but cannot send one. iMessage works just fine but outgoing texts on Sprint is completely broken.

Texting and iMessage working fine here

It is (I'm testing on an ipad though). I asked her where to get coffee in Munich, and she found 15 coffee shops.

She can't get movie times in Germany however, and I don't know enough about German sports to ask her about scores.

Someone mentioned that the OTA status is far more accurate with regards to time and progress. On my iPad (3rd Gen) this was the case but on my iPhone 4S it was the complete opposite. Jumping up and down with time estimates ranging from less than one minute to 4 hours remaining. Been going for an hour now and still not completed.

Anyone else had this issue?

Cool, thanks!

Are you in the uk as well? Siri doesn't really work like the beta 2 as far as I'm concern.

Yes, as you can see next to my name, I'm in the uk. Attached screenshot to show.

Must be a glitch on your device.

I'm surprised that beta 3 expires September 30th.

Why? They always expire about that far in advance. Beta 2 was late August. It allows apple for any problems delaying. Just cos it expires then, does not mean a new beta won't be out until then....

Yes I know that. Beta 1 expires today and Beta 2 expires July 30th. That's why I found it odd that they made it expire two months from now.

Yeah, I guess so. I'll give it a full retore. Haha I just realized that iv been talking to the same person on different thread. How's the battery life on the beta 3 treating you mate?

My bad, thought I'd read beta 2 was August. Still they've usually given themselves time for problems. Expiry dates usually don't reflect on anything else, no need to be concerned really

Yes I know. I was just pointing it out. I guess after what happened with beta 2, they wanted to be safe.

Siri improvements

In iOS6 b2 activating Siri was broken using the headset button (iPhone 4S).

In iOS6 b3 it's working again with a nice feature:
After requesting some information with Siri, music resumes playing after seven seconds of silence if activating Siri paused your music. This works only when using headphones. Otherwise Siri will timeout after your display went to sleep (60 seconds).

Is this a new feature? I remember that music resumed after 60 seconds in iOS 5.1.1.

I know something so minor everybody has overlooked it.. I think. In notification center, the X to remove the notification has an animation that rolls to the left before clearing it!

I have to mention SIRI has improved and much quicker along with safari as well

Has anyone notice that Siri is no longer working in the UK like the Beta 2? I used to ask questions like who won the English premier league last season, where is the nearest restaurant etc. now it just responded me would you like to search the web, and I can't look places in the UK. One more thing the battery life is draining really rapidly don you think?

My Siri isn't working at all!
I just get the constant rotating circle after I speak, as if Siri is struggling to connect to the server.

Took phone off charger last night at 1 at a 94% charge... 9.5 hrs standby and a half hour usage and I just now dropped to 93. Battery is looking improved.

iCloud won't back up

Just noticed that my iPhone did not back up last night. I tried to back it up and it says it could not be completed. So i turned off iCloud backup and then tried to turn it back on and it would not turn on. what do I do.
