Just wondering how long it took to actually restore after iOS 6 had been installed? It's been restoring from backup for almost an hour now and the time remaining just keeps increasing. Does anyone have any good news for me or am I doomed?

If you are restoring from an iCloud backup then you have to take into account of how much data did you have backed up. If it was a large backup of 4-5GB's then standard speed DSL will take a while to re-download all the apps and app data.
I am restoring via iTunes not iCloud, although I did try to access a web page and it did not work, therefore I guess it is taking longer to download since it is using Internet? But then I tried surfing on my iPad and that works perfectly well. What would happen if I unplugged the phone mid-restore? I'm assuming this could potentially brick my phone?
Is anyone having battery issues with the iOS 6 GM?
There is something weird going on as my i4 battery took a 40% dive in 3.30 hours from a full charge.
It was 5pm and my battery was at 100% and now it is 8.28pm and my battery is at 58%.
Mind you that I'm not using the phone at all and there are no apps running in the background, it is just standing in my desk while I work with my laptop.
I did a restore rather than update and once it was done I just restored my latest backup to have all info back.
Am I missing something? Any ideas?
Cheers.
You would just have to start the process over... you would most likely have to manually put the phone into DFU mode and reconnect it.
You have to royally do something bad to actually brick the phone.
I can do it in iOS 5.1.1. Just swipe to the left and you get a delete button.
Works fine.
Just wondering, has anyone been able to restore from backup?
On my 4S I can't. the phone eventually restarts and iTunes says that it has been disconnected.

I'm on a 4S. My battery does similar. At work yesterday, I unplugged around 4pm, at around 95-98%, and by 6.30pm it was at 63%. I Wasn't using it enough to justify that drop!
I restored then restored from backup.
Think I may either restore as new, or just leave it til I get the iPhone 5..
I'll give that a go, thanks!I read elsewhere that if you do a "Reset All Settings" twice that it would fix the battery issues.
I did it as suggested and it seems to have fixed the issue.
Did a full charge at 8.30AM and now it is 12:23PM and my battery is at 84%.
Cheers.
Anyone having folder or app placement issues on 6?
I keep moving apps into folders and 5 mins late they are scattered back
Right on, yeah mine is showing 3.1GB of other. Going to test the update and then full restore on my iPad3 just because I still need to use my dev phone for the next few hours.
Even if it messed up I have my regular phone to use.
I'll full restore it later tonight. I just like trying to find any bugs when updating vs clean installing. Same with OS X.
Option+Update and I had 3.8Gb of "Other".
Just did Option+Restore and "Other" dropped to 2.4Gb.
Hoping for better battery, no "text tone" bug, and no keyboard shortcuts disappearing randomly.
My other must be "Documents and App Data".
I did and update other data was 3.2GB
a fresh install other data dropped to 0.48GB
a fresh install+ restoring from iCloud backup other data went back to 3.2GB
a fresh install+ only downloading apps from app store not previously saved app data and Other dropped to 0.65GB.
And when I compare my "Other" capacity shown from iTunes to what my iCloud backup is, they are almost identical, off about 200 or so MBs.
My phone shows 3.3GB backup
My Other shows 3.1GB
I only have 2.5GB of Free space on the phone and none of the other #'s are anywhere close to my iCloud backup size except for.
That is weird. For speed I didn't even put a full "work" address in, I just added a streetname I knew and the town, no postcode etc.
Hope you get to the bottom of it.
Right off to bed - although I'll probably be up at least another 30 mins messing about with the phone no doubt.
