Just wondering how long it took to actually restore after iOS 6 had been installed? It's been restoring from backup for almost an hour now and the time remaining just keeps increasing. Does anyone have any good news for me or am I doomed?

That does sound like something is wrong. I went the update route, each device took about 10-12 minutes or so

I restored to it and it took about 10 minutes.

If you are restoring from an iCloud backup then you have to take into account of how much data did you have backed up. If it was a large backup of 4-5GB's then standard speed DSL will take a while to re-download all the apps and app data.

I am restoring via iTunes not iCloud, although I did try to access a web page and it did not work, therefore I guess it is taking longer to download since it is using Internet? But then I tried surfing on my iPad and that works perfectly well. What would happen if I unplugged the phone mid-restore? I'm assuming this could potentially brick my phone?

You would just have to start the process over... you would most likely have to manually put the phone into DFU mode and reconnect it.

You have to royally do something bad to actually brick the phone.

Is anyone having battery issues with the iOS 6 GM?

There is something weird going on as my i4 battery took a 40% dive in 3.30 hours from a full charge.

It was 5pm and my battery was at 100% and now it is 8.28pm and my battery is at 58%.

Mind you that I'm not using the phone at all and there are no apps running in the background, it is just standing in my desk while I work with my laptop.

I did a restore rather than update and once it was done I just restored my latest backup to have all info back.

Am I missing something? Any ideas?

Cheers.

I'm on a 4S. My battery does similar. At work yesterday, I unplugged around 4pm, at around 95-98%, and by 6.30pm it was at 63%. I Wasn't using it enough to justify that drop!
I restored then restored from backup.

Think I may either restore as new, or just leave it til I get the iPhone 5..

Well iOS 6 has installed correctly but I'm still having the issue with restoring. Do you know of any other methods I could try to get my backup back on my phone?

Just wondering, has anyone been able to restore from backup?
On my 4S I can't. the phone eventually restarts and iTunes says that it has been disconnected.

I restored from backup after GM installation my 4s on my MacBook and my girlfriend's 4s on her PC.
No problems at all.

I also had a problem restoring, if you read some of the previous posts you will see the issue. Unfortunately I am starting from new. Next time I will wait for the public release lol

I read elsewhere that if you do a "Reset All Settings" twice that it would fix the battery issues.

I did it as suggested and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Did a full charge at 8.30AM and now it is 12:23PM and my battery is at 84%.

Cheers.

Anyone having folder or app placement issues on 6?
I keep moving apps into folders and 5 mins late they are scattered back

I'll give that a go, thanks!
I did reset all settings once on beta 4, but will try again twice, now, on GM.

I did download an app, saw it on springboard, then downloaded two more and those 3 apps had switched places, not in the order they were downloaded... my other apps have always been in the folders they're in

Right on, yeah mine is showing 3.1GB of other. Going to test the update and then full restore on my iPad3 just because I still need to use my dev phone for the next few hours.

Even if it messed up I have my regular phone to use.

I'll full restore it later tonight. I just like trying to find any bugs when updating vs clean installing. Same with OS X.

Option+Update and I had 3.8Gb of "Other".
Just did Option+Restore and "Other" dropped to 2.4Gb.
Hoping for better battery, no "text tone" bug, and no keyboard shortcuts disappearing randomly.

For anyone who didnt get a clean restore right away....did you lose your music?
I did...
Im not at home yet, but would a sync put my music back?

My other must be "Documents and App Data".
I did and update other data was 3.2GB
a fresh install other data dropped to 0.48GB
a fresh install+ restoring from iCloud backup other data went back to 3.2GB
a fresh install+ only downloading apps from app store not previously saved app data and Other dropped to 0.65GB.

And when I compare my "Other" capacity shown from iTunes to what my iCloud backup is, they are almost identical, off about 200 or so MBs.
My phone shows 3.3GB backup
My Other shows 3.1GB
I only have 2.5GB of Free space on the phone and none of the other #'s are anywhere close to my iCloud backup size except for.

Yeah I'm thinking the Other for me is messages - I've got a lot of media in them - images and videos. Wouldn't have thought it'd be 2gbs worth though!

That is weird. For speed I didn't even put a full "work" address in, I just added a streetname I knew and the town, no postcode etc.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Right off to bed - although I'll probably be up at least another 30 mins messing about with the phone no doubt.

I was just abouts to say this still doesn't work for me.
Then after reading your post again, I decided to delete the post codes from my address I have stored.
Sure enough, it works!
One of them I had to change the house number, too - where it was 45 - 63 This road, I changed it to 49 This Road, and it worked.
Very odd.
I guess Siri doesn't like postcodes.

App Store scrolling bug just been fixed, seems apple either enabled it or fixed it at their end for the iPad.

Upgrade worked on iPhone 4S without any issues.

I just did a Upgrade instead of a Restore to my iPhone 4S without any issues. I didn't want to have to wait for all my data and apps to restore from backup and then copy over the 38GB of music I have on my iPhone.

Under Windows I just pressed the Shift key and clicked on "Check for Upgrade" on the iPhone Summary page in iTunes and then pointed it to the iOS 6 ispw file.

For my iPad I wasn't thinking and did a "Restore" which took forever (i have a 64GB model).

GM to Public Release Update ?

Just wondering will it be possible to update to first public release update ( let's say iOS 6.0.1 ) from GM or not ? How was it like in iOS 5 times ? Could you be able to update from iOS 5 GM to iOS 5.0.1 ? If it will be possible I'm thinking about updating my main device (iPhone 4S) to iOS 6 because iOS 6 on my test device (ipod Touch 4th Gen) is really nice :)
