*cough* Anyone want to give some info to the less among us on how to upgrade, and maybe PM some uh, 'more specific' info? And by the way, will I just be able to upgrade to the final version next week, if I install the GM now? I'd rather just wait if I'm going to have to format it next week or anything like that.

The chances are the GM will be the final release (unless Apple find a showstopper in the next 7 days)

md5 iPhone4,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw
MD5 (iPhone4,1_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw)=3aa6a9de159025b6b318e89f35647fc3

Can anyone confirm the above for the 4S GM?

HM 4S GM here also but it`s "E145B74B35BF789F82641F987D93E876", anyway when you install it i guess that it verifies the md5 with apple servers or something.

There are cryptographic processes that ensure the software being installed on the hardware is truly from Apple. The "calling Apple to be sure" is more about making sure you're authorized to install it.

I am installing e145b74b35bf789f82641f987d93e876 on my 4S. I didn't get it from Apple, but the restore is proceeding. Wish me luck...

Before I try anything, can anyone confirm whether or not it needs a registered UDID? I'm getting contradictory reports on that.

Good luck, mine has just finished verifying and is updating as I type. How do I check the hashtag?

Open a terminal window, and type "md5" followed by the name of the ipsw file.

md5 my_iphone_iOS_10A403.ipsw

(Or whatever the name of your ipsw is)

...restore in progress!

I've gone for the full restore. Got some 4gb of "Other" showing on iTunes, and iCloud backup grown mysteriously. Methinks a restore might sort that!

Did a clean restore clear up that used space in "Other"?

Apologies, I'd MD5'd wrong file.

4S GM is (confirmed by a dev): e145b74b35bf789f82641f987d93e876

If you want a link to the DL just search imzd l

My login to the forum screwed up (weirdly) so I've not been able to login for the past hour & decided to update iTunes to 10.7 whilst I waited.

Anyway, if my question breaks any forum regs, please let me know and I'll delete.

I've read elsewhere that unlike previous GM's this one still requires you to be a registered dev to install, can anyone confirm they've successfully installed it from the "public" links please?

will this show up on itunes check update later or do you have to go through developer website?

Mine just updated fine and I'm not a developer.
