Weird. Tried to restore my Iphone 4 (VZW) and get "The iphone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible.

Is iPhone3.3_6.0_10A403_Restore.ipsw not for the iphone 4 (VZW) ?

OK question guys! Please and thanks
When I downloaded iOS6 beta onto my phone last time I used the Shift+click restore option in iTunes. After I wasnt able to restore from backup! Apps..etc...So when I go to put this iOS6 GM on my phone, do I use update or restore? I know you can do it both ways but which way enables me to restore my apps and data from my previously made backup? Both of them or just one???
Thanks

Loving iOS 6 so far. Like the new look of the menus etc. The redesigned stores are nice, though the new app store search will take a while to get used to. The ability to tweet or post a status update from Notification Center is cool too. Really like the Music app - the 'Now Playing' screen looks much better.

The whole OS feels snappy on my iPhone 4.

Well it all updated fine for me on my 4S - which is nice . . .

Live in the UK and I can confirm Siri now performs location based searches for restaurants, cinemas etc - although we'll all need to create Yelp accounts as the information on there is sparse at the moment at least where I live.

Premier league football scores can also be requested & Siri does indeed launch apps on the phone.

The 3D maps are in place for my local city of Manchester and look great & the alarm clock song selection option is in place.

I too have noticed a discrepancy between the sizes shown on iTunes for Audio, Photos & Other compared with the actuals on the device (which are correct).

Thanks to this forum I saw that others had this glitch before I upgraded so I noted down all the sizes on 5.1.1

I'm on iTunes 10.7 as of earlier tonight. It's not a major issue for me at the moment, especially if that's the only hiccup I discover.

Could you try something for me?
Edit one of your contacts, and give them a Home address and a Work address.
Ask siri to give you directions to that contact, then pick either Home or Work when it asks you to confirm.
Does it give directions?
Also, Asking it to give you directions to that contacts home (so, "Give me directions to Bob's home address") and see if it works?

You just caught me before I head off to bed - approaching 2am here ....

Anyway, I did as you said and picked a contact with a home and work address.

Used the phrase you asked for Give me directions to .......

Tried both Work and Home and it started the navigation to both perfectly.

Nice feature.

When the official comes out on the 19th, do I need to upgrade from the Gold Master that i'm using now?

Someone told me a few days ago that we skip the iOS 6 public build and just perform a normal OTA update when the first "dot" release is issued e.g. 6.1 or whatever

Same here, UK!
That feature doesn't work for me. It didn't work in beta 4, and still isn't working. Not sure why! The addresses are valid, because I can tap them in the contacts app and it loads it correctly in maps. Just won't navigate using Siri.

Was in the beta(s). Everything seems ok and even more stable.

He means a different design.
In betas it said "3D" - now it's an image of 3D buildings for some - mine's still "3D". Starting to doubt this update actually worked! lol

Edit: Actually, it shows "3D" until you're above an area and zoomed in enough, that has 3D, then it changes to the 3D building image.

Exactly! Didn't make that clear enough, it's not a new feature, they just modified it.

Any other new features other than Panorama on the 4S ?

That is weird. For speed I didn't even put a full "work" address in, I just added a streetname I knew and the town, no postcode etc.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Right off to bed - although I'll probably be up at least another 30 mins messing about with the phone no doubt.
