Having problems jailbreaking my 4S with Pangu 1.1.0.

Last week I jailbroke an iphone 4, iphone 5, both with ios 7.1.2, both went without a hitch.

Now with my iphone 4S, also ios 7.1.2, Pangu runs to completion then either:

- aborts saying " “failed, no response from your device after reboot, please try again”"

- or says 'all done!' but when my iphone 4S reboots, it goes into a reboot loop, crashing each time the Pangu boot screen comes up. Have to restore it back to factory settings through iTunes.

I'm using the same macbook, same download, same cable as for the two other phones.

What am I doing wrong?

Have turned off password, find my iphone, screen lock never, date and time 2nd June 2014, etc. Also tried putting iphone in airport mode before jailbreaking. The 4S was jailbroken before with Evader, (the others weren't) but that shouldn't be a factor after going through the factory restore process.

It's been a while since I've been on here and randomly came across this thread as I've been JB on 6.1.2 for well over a year now.

What is the easiest way for those coming from 6.x.x to go to iOS 7 and keep all of the information in tact? I have some information stored in 3rd party apps (work stuff) that I don't want to lose.

Easiest way to answer -- what is the last earliest version of iOS that Apple is still signing and what's the easiest way to get to that version so I can JB iOS 7? Downloading the firmware and loading through iTunes like before?

make a backup on itunes, restore to the latest version (iOS 7.1.2), jailbreak using PanGu, and then restore from backup using iTunes

then proceed to reinstall your tweaks (the restoring from backup may or may not reinstall your apps for you)

Thanks! That clears it up for me. I didn't know what version iTunes would upgrade my phone to and just wanted to make sure a full restore wouldn't prevent me from jailbreaking when I do the update.

No help from anyone? I've jailbroken several phones with Pangu, but I just cannot get my own phone to jailbreak :( Every time Pangu goes into a reboot cycle.

Have done restore to factory settings 4 times so far, & getting sick of it.

Have you tried plugging the earbuds into the phone or flashing a flashlight into the sensor? Those are two known fixes. Strange I know, but true.

Ah thanks for that. I will give it a go when i get home tomorrow. I remember reading some talk about these fixes but i must have thought it was made-up stuff. Google shows plenty of links i can look at for more info.

Yea it is hard to believe but it definitely has fixed the boot loop issues that many many people were experiencing. It's very strange haha

Let me know how you make out. There might be a couple other things you can try if these don't work.

Fixed it thanks! Bizarre, but shining a light onto the phone while jailbreaking it worked! (I also plugged in headphones just in case)

Best explanation I could find is this:

"the light sensor hack is also used at times to bring devices with completely depleted battery back to life. The reasoning behind its ability to fix the dead battery issues is because the light sensor is hooked up directly to the main controller chip that is responsible for managing system power states. When the battery is completely dead, the controller chip no longer has juice to manage the hardware switches, and loses the ability to recognize and direct the charging current into the battery. When a flashlight is placed on the light sensor, it is able to generate enough current to initially power up the circuit, thus reviving the phone."

Awesome! I'm glad I was able to help you. I had a feeling that one of those would solve your problem but I wasn't 100% positive.

Glad it's working! Enjoy! And thanks for sharing that link.

As an aside, I use my wife's computer for this jailbreak. She has an older version of iTunes. Popup windows constantly remind her to update.
Even so, this jailbreak went through without issue or flaws on both my iPhone and iPad.

Ugh. I went ahead and updated from 7.0.6 to 7.1.2 and did the j/b. I did a complete fresh restore first, updated to 7.1.2, then j/b.

I wish I hadn't.

MyWi 7

Those are the only REQUIRED items I need.

I would like keep my themes going as well, so... I went and downloaded Jaku and Elite. Also, installed Iconoclasm and Springtomize 3.

Constant reboots to safe mode with either of those two installed.

Why didn't you just restore to fresh 7.1.2 instead of updating?
