MuscleNerd has indeed given stated it does work, but recommends those with a working jailbreak on 7.0.x don't rush into a 7.1.1 update.

I'm actually less worried about the jailbreak working than the possibility of a lost exploit for iOS 8! If this was a new exploit that the evad3rs didn't know about or have, no harm no foul, but if this was one they were trying to hold onto, then that would suck for chances of one in iOS 8.
However, seeing that Ionic creamed his dacks all over the Twitterverse from what these guys did, I'd say we're doing pretty good.

Apple doesn't rush out updates over jailbreaking. With that said, a 7.1.2 update soon still shouldn't surprise anyone. I've seen it's coming soon even before this jailbreak came out.

I'm jb now and everything works fine so no need to rush. Waiting for many cydia updates for my hacks to play well with the new iOS.

It shouldn't be a problem as long as the JB goes through but its safer and stabler if you restore to 7.1.1 with itunes.
Most of the times the JB wont even work on OTA installed ios versions and will need a restore after it fails.

Coming from 7.0.6, there were a lot of small things that I didn't mind having, such as the redesigned "slide to power off" slider, list view for Calendar and faster Touch ID performance, among others: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_iOS#iOS_7.x
I've now jailbroken an ipad retina mini, iphone 5, and iPod touch 5, all working really well. Seemed to only take up a couple hundred extra mb. I found a workaround on BTC controller until it is ios 7.1.1 ready (I paid for it!), so now I have my phone connected to a logitech keyboard and hp mouse. Sooo nice to be jailbroken again.

Only issue you may have, at least initially, is that some of the jailbreak apps aren't compatible yet. I'm sure they will be soon, but it is tough to wait. And if you wait to jailbreak, you may lose your chance...
