Battery life is fine on my iPad mini(1st gen).
Yep,I'm learning Japanese. :D

I got 10hrs approx, mostly browsing the web and some facebook.

Location Services sometimes on,Wi-Fi is always on,background app refresh disabled,Mail fetch=1 hour,brightness 40%.

Reduced motion and reduce transparency were OFF,the overall experience is fine.

The strange thing is that if I turned reduced motion on,the UI will be a bit laggy(Such as entering "bookmark" in Safari and sliding out Control Center.),unless I turned reduce transparency on.

P.S.
The calender app is super laggy unless I turn Reduce Transparency on.

I also noticed that the battery drains slower when near 20%.
(It drains "a little bit" faster between 100%~30%)

My Battery is MUCH WORSE

I've been reading page after page of your observations, recommendations and more. Few people are experiencing the kind of drain I experienced today. I installed the update to my iphone 5 just 2 days ago. It was not a clean install; I simply selected install and let the update do just that. Yesterday I noticed a surprisingly large drop in battery status. I immediately closed all applications, made sure location services were turned off as well as Bluetooth. I noticed the Bluetooth had been turned on by the update. It wasn't on before but it was after the install. I then charged to 100%. I noticed some difficulty with getting the charging to begin. I fiddled with the cord, etc. I left the house this morning at 8:30 fully charged. Put the phone in my pocket. Used it at 12:30 to add a new contact. My phone was on less than 10% charge. Put the phone on the charge in my car. After about 3 hours I checked my phone; redlined at 0 still. Played with cord, started my car, usually not necessary, after 45 minutes charge had reached 31%. Did not use my phone. 2 hours later it was less than 10% Sent 2 quick texts during next 20 minutes. Phone redlined at 0%. Calling Apple now and planning a store visit tomorrow. This kind of management of information delivery is absolutely unacceptable!! I went from a 2-3 day battery life to horrific due solely to 7.1 update. This experience combined with my desire for a larger screen pushes me to one conclusion...fix this lightning fast or goodbye Apple.

My battery is sh_t but thats with heavy continous usage of safari, tweetbot and other apps on 3G

Since yet another DFU clean install and setting up as a new phone, I have experimented with turning off 3G and cellular. During my first 30 mins of WiFi browsing, the battery percentage meter went down 1%, so I thought now we're talking...
Sadly, the drain soon picked up pace and by the time the meter showed 80%, I had only been browsing for one hour and thirty six minutes.

Strangely, switching 3G and cellular off seems to have no effect on my battery life other than making the meter perform in a less linear manner. The overall battery life is about the same whether cellular data/3G is on or off, and surely that shouldn't be the case? My old iPhone 4 used to have a much longer battery life if I switched off 3G.

Exactly the same story with my 5s. After several DFU clean installs without restoring from a backup I still have mediocre battery life. From 100% to 75% in 1h 40m with very light 3G/WiFi usage.
Switched off background refresh and most of my location services.
Before 7.1 I was able to get 2 1/2 days out of my device's battery. Now 1 1/2 days at best.

Sorry, but there should not be the need to reset a phone due to a software update. It should 'just work'.

Same issues with the iPad update too.

Right! That's what I thought about iOS updates prior to 7.1
I was in an Apple store today and one of the employees told me that she has the same battery related issues with her iPhone 5s and iOS 7.1
Hopefully, Apple is aware.

Usually and for most that's not needed. It's just worth a try if you are truly seeing some sort of an issue and nothing else seems to address it for some reason.

Meh, think it's about time to replace my battery again. I did a full restore from new a week ago for a non related issue.

That doesn't really seem bad, unless perhaps you weren't really using your phone all that time and it thinks that you were.

Pandora lol. But I agree it's not super terrible.

On a fresh battery it's typically better. I generally replace it yearly if possible and on my 4S it's pretty easy.

I am surprised with my battery today mysel, normally get around 6-6.5 hours usage, no music, browsing, calls, facebook etc

This is mine (5s) on iOS 7.1 after performing a reset of all settings, hard reset and full charge / drain / fully charge.

This issue seems to be affecting phone users way more than iPad users. I as happy with the battery performance before and still am after 7.1 on my iPad.

It's them damned power sucking phones..... :D

After reading through the posts it seems as though 6 to 7 hours is the norm for 7.1. Which is less than before. Hopefully the next update addresses the problem

What was it before? My usual usage with iPhone 5 would usually get me between 6 and 8 hours of usage (usually closer to 6) and somewhere close to a day of standby, and been like that since iOS 6 days if not even iOS 5 (with iPhone 4 in that case).

My iPhone5 with iOS6 gave me between 8.5 and 9.25 hours of usage. With the same usage pattern, I get between 4.5 hours and 5.5 hours with iOS7. Same settings etc.

Today after 6hrs 45mins I have 21% left on y iPhone 5s, so I'm going to reach 7hrs and half as usual

Odd. The battery usage has been about the same on a couple of iPhone 5 phones in the family on iOS 6.0, iOS 6.1, iOS 7.0, and now iOS 7.1.

I'm always around 6:45 on my 5s with no games and some music listening. It definitely isn't good as most people here get at least 7:30. I set it up as a new phone a few weeks ago too and it's still not where it should be.

Some iPhone5 handsets have been badly affected by iOS7. It may be dependent on the carrier and the frequency of the network etc, or it could be a dodgy batch of iPhone5.

Yeah, seems like something like that might be the case unfortunately.
