Other changes?

Has anyone else noticed that the "folder open" animation seems faster? Also, my iPad air can finally keep more than 2 tabs open at a time! << that was a huge disappointment when I started using it.

So two more weeks gone by and that's it? WOW I really wonder what they do at Apple all day. I wish my project schedules were like that, add three or four little tweaks and call it a day.
Yeah, because toward the end of beta cycle you want to keep on introducing and changing even more things, rather than making sure things are stable and no regressions have been introduced, right?

----------

Did they revert any of the changes they made in beta 3?

Like the new slide to shutdown UI? Or the awful looking new call screen?

Most of the UI changes in 7.1 beta 3 were strange. (except for the green icon hue change and white point reduce, those were nice)
Looks like those were actual design choices and are likely here to stay, at least for 7.1.

Hiring iOS Jailbreakers

I remember when Apple was frequently hiring iOS jailbreakers for design and features input. It apparently seems like now they've stopped doing that and I have seen some pretty incredible jailbreak tweaks for iOS 7 and if Apple truly wants to get their mojo back with the iOS platform, they could really use these guys now more than ever. It could also prove to be a very good foil between Jony Ive and Craig Federighi.

Could someone kindly confirm that updating betas over the air doesn't "reinstall", reconfigure files back from scratch and that all the present files on phone stay intact?thanks
Just like any other iOS update (short of something going wrong).

Incredible jailbreak tweaks for iOS 7 like...?

Its just disappointing when i see all the tweaks JBing adds then get a new beta of 7.1 and the most noted tweak is the slide to unlock animation. Is Apple serious? Is that really the BEST there millions can do? We have developers floating around MacRumors that could do 100x more in just a few weeks.

That's just the change from the last beta, not all the changes in iOS 7.1.

Oh so many betas. Looks like 7.1 will be andecent overhaul.

Too bad betas means nothing. Sometimes some features are exist in betas and pulled down last minutes before the actual updates.

Yep since they aren't chaining anything they should be good to go for the final release. Actually if they aren't going to add any features they might as well call it a day and release it. I know that changing an animation certainly requires a LOT of beta testing.

Ya I know its so exciting can't wait to get the round call button.

changing the design every time is confusing, useless and stupid

seems like Apple is running out of ideas to improve iOS7

Hey, if they released an update with an animation that broke my phone or gave my cat cancer, I’d be pretty upset.

Kidding aside, something as simple as an animation can break stuff if it’s not executed properly. That’s why betas exist, is to catch edge case stuff like that before release. I’ve seen what happens when those edge cases slip through, and it can be ugly.

The Slide to Unlock keeps getting more and more prominent until they just go back to a slide bar :p

Yup. And then it will actually BE "slide to unlock". By removing the slider UI iOS7 actually changed the slide into a push. There's a difference.

Is anyone else really bothered by the "Giant open sore" link that pops up at the end of the video? *vomit*

By the time iOS 8 is released, iOS 7 may finally be out of beta!

But yeah, the level of UI/UX incompetency in iOS 7 across the board is shocking. I thought they would have quickly addressed this stuff by the 2nd update, but here we are on 7.1 with Apple still dribbling out a few tweaks at a time.

C'mon, there's just one Jony. And he has to do hardware AND software, both.

He's up all night tweaking the UI. 2 nights a week. But he's doing it all alone. Hence the delays.

Now everyone with access to Photoshop thinks is an expert in UI... iOS 7 is years ahead in terms of design, get over it or get a plastic Android phone. Thanks.

I've been studying and professionally practicing UI design for almost 20 years. Jony is a phenomenal industrial designer, but he can't do UI design to save his live. Years ahead?!?! ROLFLMAO!!!!

And now i finally believe on the famous saying "don't fix something that ain't broke" seriously, the way the lockscreen "slide to unlock text" lights up when you touch it is like > "HEY YOU! STUPID!! HEY!! YOU IDIOT SHOULD SLIDE THIS WAY" and were like "**** you iOS7, i was just fooling around, i'm not stupid enough to not know where to slide" don't you think the emphasizing of the text is too exaggerated?

Will they ever come out with some actual new useful features instead of this ridiculous tinkering with the minutea of fractional changes to sliders and the like?

Finally an honest reaction to this update. Absolutely nothing in this update that makes it worth applying, especially nothing worth losing jailbreak.

wow you decompiled the entire OS in 5 hours and confirmed that these tweaks were the only changes? Apple should hire you.

Don't get me wrong I love my iPhone but I just want it to get better, not stay the same.

I know. If only we could have this back. This is proper UI design.

Excellent post. Most of the people who say 'iOS 6 had a better UI' or 'Jonny Ive sucks' have absolutely no recollection of how terrible iOS 6 UIs really were and are just embarrassing themselves. In Podcast there was absolutely no way to know how to change the playback speed. You had to stumble across the fact that you could slide up the artwork to reveal a reel-to-reel player with a little tortoise. So intuitive. And that was one of Forestall's showcase designs.

Your missing the point we want additional UI changes too. Guess we can't have both.

Sweet release of 7.1 change log "Bug Fixes" awesome..

You have absolutely zero evidence to back up your point. Pure BS. Please prove that the number of ex-jailbreakers hired by Apple has gone down.

Yeah, not like anything under the hood changed. That's probably the biggest chunk of iOS 7.1 changes/improvements.
