Well, what I was certainly hoping for in 7.1 was a new call slider, not a fix for the endless Safari crashing to the home screen on my iPad Air.

Neat.

Does Apple even read/respond to bug/crash reports anymore?

That was fixed on an early 7.1 build. My Air hasn't crashed Safari since 7.1 b2. Prior to 7.1 it was crashing every day.

Your missing the point we want additional UI changes too. Guess we can't have both.

Sweet release of 7.1 change log "Bug Fixes" awesome..

So you rather have LOTS of features instead of the features you already have actually working correctly? OK then well to each his own I suppose. Tell me what else would your have your "telephone" do? Other than make calls, browse the internet, maintain your calendar, manage your email, be your watch/alarm clock, be your weather man, document viewer, camera, picture manager, music player, contact manager, note taker,GPS and lord knows what ever else you can find an app for. What for petes sake else would you want or expect out of a telephone? Just curious

I don't understand why there's so much complaining in this thread. It's a Beta 4 not a new iOS. If you look at all the changes since 7.1 went into beta, it's a major improvement over 7.0. The minor tweaks of this beta indicate 7.1 is getting close to the GM.

There are a lot of things I really appreciate, not the least of which is darker type in the Calendar app, plus options to change the UI's overall look. I'm also glad to see the calendar with the agenda underneath. That was a great loss in 7.0. And the "flat" look isn't so very starkly FLAT any more. There's a great deal of finessing that's being done.

I can tell you've only used iPhones and you aren't jailbroken or you wouldn't be asking me that question.

On the other hand you seem to be mostly discounting all that is in 7.1 as far as addressing a lot of what has been problematic (not just on the surface) in 7.0.

There was nothing wrong with my old Performa running MacOS 7.6 at the time either, but I wouldn't willingly go back to that machine. Progress is tough, but usually worth it.

Progress is never tough when it is actually progress. It is only tough when is a sideway or backward move masquerading as progress.

When the first iphone appeared everyone was amazed and wanted one. See ? Real progress is almost instantly accepted. When you change a single core CPU into a quad core - no one will complain.

But when a designer will introduce pink super skinny jeans as progress, some people will complain while others will say "you gotta get with the program, it's time to let go of the past, change is tough but necessary".

Oh can you now, well on the contrary. I just fail to see why some folks can never be satisfied period. "iOS needs changing", ok it changed. "I hate the changes". I want a calendar, ok here is a calendar, but THAT calendar is to.... to..... well I dont like it. I want round buttons. . well damn those are too round. I want animation.... well that animation slows it down take it off.

Good grief not to mention this is BETA and you have no idea what may be in the released version. So jailbreak and quit whining if you are such an expert.

And yes I have had many phones including ones that you could simply make a friggin phone call on and that is ALL it could do. so yeah I like the fetures too but I prefer they actually work

I give up you guys are right its "good enough". Its all about perfecting the code, I get it...

It's pretty obvious based on the contents of each list. Top Grossing includes free apps (with IAP), and Paid has no free apps whatsoever. While the active item could be made clearer, this example doesn't work so well.

I have to go with PBF on this one. To my glance the blue words were obviously tappable and the black were announcing the list shown.

ha ok now you are getting it. its Perfect! ha, Nah all we are saying is that bugs are more important to fix than more and more features. Thats all. Sure we all want as many features we can get but you seem to think that thats the only thing thats important. And we are just saying that fixing the existing OS is important to so it works and does not lockup and is slow and otherwise making for a bad user experience. So a big YEAH when an old bug is squashed and whatever feature that was flawed now actually works! To me having a few features that work as they should are better than having a LOT of ones that dont. Of course you have your preferences as well and I respect that.

What kind of app is missing?

And you are aware that Apple is not the main app producer right? If you have a good idea, approaching a good developer with it is probably a good bet towards it getting on the app store.

By variations I meant in their apps' UI design. I am aware they are not the primary app producer. How ever the UI of those apps usually set the standard for a lot of the third party apps out there. I woud like a little more details and contrast on my apps, whether by Apple or anyone else.

Well, there's skeuomorphism and there is skeuomorphism. I like the kind that aids in functionality (the design of the tool is remeniscent of devices we use in daily life and therefore we intuitively know how to use it) like the one that Rogifan showed. But the notebook kind really bothered me in iOS6. There is probably a fine line between those two but iOS 6 had some very good but also very bad design.

I agree Some went way overboard and just didn't look good on a screen anymore. But it probably warmed up to a lot of older users who still remember using those outdated objects.:D

One change I would like to see in the dialer: the backspace button should be moved back down to the keypad. That tiny "X" up to the right of the readout is counter-intuitive and clunky to use.

The current implementation seems to mimic how Safari handles URL's.

Am I in the dar on this one? When will Apple add a feature to the iPod app that allows the user to add the current song that is playing to a playlist?

This seems like a no-brainer, but I don't think it is available. I may be wrong. Is this feature currently available?

Neat... but I'd prefer "Add to contacts" still..

No one would know what the "+" button means, it would add, but add what ?

As least its more better to not even think.

I think that we have to remember that Apple hasn't really changed anything.

These are betas and this is the time for them to try different things.

sorry i wasnt clear enough. i meant the change in the dialer from from previous ios to ios7.

what i dont get is the benefit of moving + and delete from the bottom to the top.

Looks. Perhaps some sort of accidental taps that some people ran into.

My bad, I should have cropped out the contents. But you get the point, there is a discrepancy in color scheme. In the first column, active item is in blue, whereas in the second column, active item is in black. iOS 7 is a freaking mess. Not up to Apple's usual standard WHATSOEVER.

I posted this in another thread, but didn't see anyone mention it here. I just wanted to see if anyone noticed that the "Today" view in Notification Center has been stripped down, rendering it pretty useless. You no longer have the calender grid view, there's no weather forecast and there's no summary of today's events. I just took these screen caps this morning knowing I have a dinner later tonight on my calender, but there's no mention of it. They've also removed some of the options for what's to be displayed in the N.C. settings.

Does anyone know if this is specific to beta 4 or was this happening in beta 3? I can't remember exactly.

Strange, it's all still there on my devices. Have you tried restarting the phone? Do you have calendars set up for something to show up there?

Wow, that was really weird. Restarting my phone fixed it and also added back the options in Notification Center's settings. Color me embarrassed...

Thanks for the advice.
