LOL. Then how do I take pictures and videos during our vacation? :D

Seriously, we rarely carry a separate camera these days. The iPhone pictures are generally just as good, and with HDR they are sometimes better.

4 months is a long time to beta test icon changes.

As a 7.1 Beta tester, there is a WHOOOOLE lot more than icon changes. Though I appreciate your sarcasm, it shows a little disrespect for the people working to fix the errors and giving you a polished product...

If they rushed it and you'd have issues, you'd also complain and thus create a no-win situation for those of us working on 7.1...

May karma bless you with a visit :D

Exactly, and this is why I have no practical desire to switch platforms whatsoever. Polish products = satisfaction devoid of any elements of remorse.

Respectfully, if this is the model, how did so many errors get into 7.0 in the first place?

Four months is a long time to fix some major bugs that were introduced in 7.0, and we've seen numerous stories of icon and other non-functionality tweaks in the various public beta releases.

There seems to be some major prioritization issues somewhere with this model.

Because this is an Apple-centric website and people are interested in the progression of the products.

Also, people assume updates will fix [insert real problem here], [insert imagined problem here], lower their cholesterol, and improve the toasting ability of their toaster.

Oh you mean like how the latest version of pages fixed...what exactly? That the desktop wasn't as crippled as an iPhone word processor?

I converted a few people at work to macs, and now it's just embarrassing for me just how hated Apple is where I work.

The icing is the girl who's HDD broke, apple replaced it under warranty but the so-called genius told her she can't download the old pages anymore so she has to upgrade to the new version and Mavericks, but hey, it's free and "free is good ". The new pages is useless for our business case and gatekeeper even broke all our business apps for the poor girl until she brought it to me so I could disable gatekeeper. After a few months of her cursing apple (and me for suggesting she buy a mac), she's back on windows happily using word.

So tell me again, how in the world Apple's "newer" is improved and better for everyone? Because I can show you a whole office full of people who hate Apple and will never buy one of their products because of the way they force newer on people who just want to get a job done.

If the app needs 7.1, it's probably using some new features there.

Just like their 12 days of Christmas app "needed" os7  You need to cut back on the koolaid.

Ha ha. I told my dad to keep 6 on thankfully I think 7 would have been a gong show for him to get used to.

android 4.4 > ios 6 > ios 7 :D

I recently overheard someone showing off his "new" used 4S, bragging how lucky he was to get it on iOS 6. He said the seller told him he could upgrade it for free and his answer was "do I have to". He'd actually traded in a 5S to get the 4S just so he could go back to 6.

As I said, I still have 6 on my 4S, and I won't upgrade the hardware because I refuse to be stuck with iOS 7. If my phone broke tomorrow, I'd either look for a used 4S or switch to android. After a few days trying out a 5S, I think I'd choose to go back to my old dumb-phone before using an iOS 7 device. That 5S was the only time I've ever used apple's no questions asked return deal.

I love irrational hatred of new things.

I WOULD RATHER LIGHT MY PETS ON FIRE AND POUR BLEACH INTO MY EYES THAN USE A PHONE THAT IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FROM WHAT IM USED TO!!!

I'm tired of this excuse of why an iphone is better. None of my google apps on my nexus have ads. Apple doesn't have adds?? Really? iad, itunes radio?

I don't have anymore ads than an iphone user does. Apps that are built for both platforms will have ads are paid version.

But you've probably never used a nexus phone and if you have you should know its not filled adds. It's just a really functional phone that costs half the price.

I loved having an iphone for years and definitely miss certain things but both phones have pros and cons but there are more pros for the nexus right now and the cons for it (easier syncing with itunes and not as good at voice commands like playing music) are more a mild inconvenience. Plus once I finally get around to setting up double twist air sync it should solve one of the problems. Oh and I miss the mailbox app. lol

This isn't an excuse or argument about why the iPhone is better - he was simply explaining why Google is able to sell the Nexus 5 at the price point they do. Really can't argue with it as those are the facts. Googles makes billions of dollars on advertising revenue, Apple doesn't. Apple has to (or chooses to) make money on hardware. Just the way it is. Samsung also makes money on hardware (as do most OEMs).

I don't understand why people get so defensive about this/fail to understand this simple concept.

As for most of the rest of you, good heavens. Some of the posts on this thread are awful, whining drivel that have no basis in reality. Here's a novel concept - if you think Apple sucks or is slipping, buy Android. It's a great platform. Leave the discussion of Apple products to people who actually care and don't blow every little crash out of proportion as though it's some massive life altering in convenience.

On 7.0.6 - I have a crash or restring every now and again - maybe once of twice a week. Yes I'd love for it to be more stable, but I'm cutting Apple some slack with iOS 7. They haven't made this big a change since iOS was first released. These things take time. iOS 7 is the basis on which the next 6-7 years of iOS will be built. It takes time to get to the polish iOS 6 had. So they take a step back to take two forward. That's the way it works, especially if those larger updates are still expected I nt he same time frames.

Looking forward to 7.1 building on some great stuff in 7.

Gatekeeper can by bypassed for any app with Right click -> Open. It will be whitelisted the first time you run it.

Pages 5.1 helped lower my cholesterol.

So is there another reason you're here or do you just like bashing products you don't like? Seriously, I curse Windows and Office every time I use it. Boom - is your anecdotal evidence any more important than mine? No.

The guy said nothing about it being better for everyone. Simply that generally, those of us here are here to learn and discuss Apple. And we're generally interested int he updates and progressions of their products.

You don't seem to be, so why bother being here?

Thats why. Most are NOT still on 6 so need 7.1 to fix 7.0 issues

Assuming that MOST have all these iOS 7 issues is naive. The fact is that MOST use 7.0 just as we'll as they used 6.X. That's not to says there aren't thing a to fix, but if your iPhone is TRULY crippled by the number of crashes and resprings you experience, you're in the minority.

MOST of us are simply excited for continued refinement. It's really as simple as that.

My iPhone 4 runs iOS 7 fine. Just a little slow. I don't get very many resprings or crashes, although it does happen occasionally, my life is still intact.

OK easy killer. I am not saying MOST have issues. I said MOST are not on iOS 6 still. I personally do not have any issues with 7 or 7.1 b1-5. But MOST of the folks who are wanting the upgrade is to solve some issue they are having with iOS7 which answers the poster I was replying to. :)

I can't speak to the model and it's efficiency as I agree there are issues with 7.0.x that I didn't see when I was beta testing 7.0.x. There may be internal priorities that we aren't privy to and you have a point to criticise.

What I can say, there has been quite a bit of work under the hood to get 7.1 polished. People on here (and in general) focus on the visible changes instead of what's under the hood because of visibility. You notice an icon change but you don't notice optimized code making an app open 20% faster or better compatibility with Bluetooth, etc unless these things are directly affecting your experience with the OS.

Yes the UI has been honed but far from where things ended.

Ultimately, people complain if it's too fast and things are missed or too slow and too much time is spent squashing bugs... lol

And when a novice user who wants it to "just work" gets a message that the app they need to run is forbidden, they're supposed to know that? When it ran just fine before their HDD crash and warranty work and after it doesn't work. They didn't even know about gatekeeper.

The new pages is garbage when you're trying to do well-formated business documents and not jotting down notes like in say notes.
