Apple needs an OS update to support their own media streaming app?

Wow Apple is looking pretty bad these days. Why do they want people to upgrade so badly? I'm still on 6, and I'd use android before I ever switched to 7.

Ha ha. I told my dad to keep 6 on thankfully I think 7 would have been a gong show for him to get used to.

android 4.4 > ios 6 > ios 7 :D

The iphone has been real innovative since the iphone 4? The finger print would have been good as a security function with NFC purchases but that didn't happen.

Nexus is simply just more functional at this point. The way the notifications and notification drop down work alone make it better than he iphone. I never realized how important that was until apple released that awkward three tab thing.

I was a die hard iPhone user and hated the early androids that I used briefly. The Nexus 5 perfect or better in every way but over all its a better smart phone than the current iphone.

Which is funny because I went from Android to the 5s last December. Yes, Android's notification drawer is so much better than iOS's it's not even funny, but that's pretty much the only advantage.

Ya but its such a big advantage. It's command central for your phone. You can get to everything you can even action things like archiving your gmails.

Customization another big advantage, apps like mighty text that let me send sms messages via web browser, access to your storage if you want to drag and drop any file, nfc for setting (if you are into that I haven't) larger screen, I even like rubbery texture of the phone slips out of my hand less. The last two are subjective but most people prefer a slightly larger screen once they get used to it.

I'll give ios credit for its nice build quality though the phone has way to much bezel, at least catch up on that front with the iphone 6. Larger app selection. Probably some better written mutual apps, siri is more command friendly (like play music) but she takes her sweet time with things compared to google now.

Depends what's important to you notifications and communication via typing, and info at a glance are my main wants and Nexus 5 is better at that for now for me.

iPhones are great phones still a lot of love for it from me. The nexus 5 is just better. Hopefully that will make the iphone better in the future. Who wins when consumer products are competitive? The consumer!

Bring back Forstall! Steve Jobs JR. Needs to fix this thing. No matter how much of a jerk he is. :D

7.1β5 is still glitchy. I just went into the Photos app, selected a photo, then tapped 'Use as Wallpaper' and it went to the 'Print' dialog box. I think all the circle buttons are off by one or something.

7.1bring it!

another pointless reply. Soz.

Looking forward to some speed improvements on my ipad mini and 4s.

Yeah baby! Bring this bad boy on.

To the guy that wanted someone to announce the 7.1 release, come over to my place and you can watch me download it on my mac. We can even read the release notes together if you like.

Is there an up to date summary of all the new things in ios 7.1 so far included in all the betas?

How long before 7.1 is jailbroken? I just "free'd" my iPhone and while I only use nds4ios and iFile I'd kinda hate to give them up for too long.

4 months is a long time to beta test icon changes.

Perhaps more.

No.1 issue with many is the reboots and Safari crashes. Everything else can live with perhaps (on the Air at least - older devices have complaints about major speed hindrance introduced with IOS 7).

Something dodgy is going on with RAM management because the Air starts off great then quickly degrades to the point where it reboots itself and sluggish behaviour and even freezes. Something unheard of in previous iPads.

I thought that external power was also required, but I wasn't sure.

However, putting it in Airplane mode during charging is a problem. The phones won't be able to receive iMessages during that period, cutting them off from family back in the US. SMS messages can still be received, but at a significant cost. I'm considering buying a bundle of them, but international SMS is not reasonably priced on AT&T.

We will also be carrying a battery the size of a pack of cigarettes to recharge the phones during the day, and that's not distinguishable from an external wall charger.

Fill your phones with music and videos. It won't auto update unless there is room on the device.

So we get targeted advertising that we might actually be interested in? I rather those kind of ads that stuff I'm not interested in. Apple has your info as well you don't think they are at least sharing it with someone like the government you are naive. Deny all they want.

This is a day and age where user info is simply out there. I'm guessing most iphone users use some google service, or social media so there info is out there. It just is.

Apple collects info but a lot of it (not all) is collected anomynously because it's not for the purpose of selling it to other companies. Can someone trace that info back to you if they really wanted? Perhaps. But that's not the same thing as Google having your entire life all logically archived for their employees, advertisers (ie, customers), hackers and governments to see. Your conspiracy theories and conjecture doesn't make them the same thing and the only one being naive here I think is you if you believe that giving that much info/power to one company is ok because they're saving you a few bucks, when in reality Google should be paying you a cut of all the billions they make selling you.

So what's new and special in 7.1 that's going to be critical to stream the iTunes Festival?

Flash?

So to know what is fixed, we have to read 5 blog posts? Sorry I don't visit the site often enough to keep up on everything. I guess I'll wait for the post of release to find out whats fixed or added.
