I didn't read anything in that thread that warranted this level of excitement. Reading the buzz on 7.1 you'd think that this update turns lead into gold or something.

"Oh my God, the keyboard might be dark now!" Big deal. Here is how I interpret all the buzz on this stupid release....

"Holy Crap!!! My life is so boring that Apple releasing this minor update means I don't have to drink all the anti freeze in the garage today. Hopefully this tiny update will give meaning to my empty existence until iOS 8, iPhone 6, or iWatch comes out."

Can we at least have some respect here?

I'm not clear about what is disrespectful about a satirical comment on the amazing loss of perspective and over exaggeration of the ultimate (un)importance of a software upgrade.

I thought it was on the mark...but I'm just a nasty old misanthrope.

FYI:
satire |ˈsaˌtīr|
noun
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices,

Im guessing the part you are missing is the folks who spent lots of hard earned $$$ on the latest iPad (air) and iPhone (5s) or got them as Christmas gifts way back in Dec maybe even their very 1st iDevice, and they 1/2 way work and are crashing and slow and just not typical of the Apple experience of past. This update has promise of bringing that good experience back and is verified by countless users who have been using the betas. So yeah if you never had your $600 Air perform like the beast it should be this will cause some excitement knowing finally there is resolution on the horizon. And it cannot come soon enough.

I have a $600 Air. It performs very well. I guess you better keep that anti freeze close. Putting a little umbrella in it may make it more festive for you.

It must be difficult for you to see people who actually enjoy tech. It makes me wonder why you would even come and read a thread like this because you clearly could not care less. It's true I'm one of those people who will be standing in line on launch day for the iPhone 6. That must really bug you. I'm sure you must have soemthing more important to do than troll threads of things you find useless, but yet here you are.

How dare you get excited about things that I don't!

My sources are telling me 7.1 will come out this week, if not, then next week...

Every single "analyst/blog/site/twitter".

Oh how I fool myself. Every time I use iTunes Radio. Maybe this time the springboard won't crash. Hahahaha. Only myself to blame.

What a load of garbage. Here's our new radio service that will cause your device to soft reboot.

What's the big ********** deal about iOS 7.1? What does it do that is so much better than the current system?

Let me explain my situation: With iOS 7.0 (.0>.4 or something before the first 7.1 beta came out), I was suffering from 5-10 crashes and a few re-springs DAILY on my 64-bit iOS devices. Since iOS 7.1 beta 2, only 1-2 crash, no re-spring for pretty much the last few months. That's like a huge 99% drop in crashes from iOS 7.0 to iOS 7.1.

iOS 7.1 is a huge improvement in stability and responsiveness. My sister is not a developer and she's still whining about the crashes daily on her devices. She wants to go back to iOS 6 because it is stable as heck.

That's what most folks are waiting for.

Those on non-64bit devices, they're not as bad.

To be honest...7.0.6 is working fine for me since I upgraded from iOS6 on my iphone 5 earlier this week. Not had any crashes or any issues, there is some slight lag but not too bad. The day after I updated to iOS 7.0.6 I decided to do a full wipe and restore from previous backup since I knew sometimes it works better and since then really no issues. Now the look (too much white) and the music app are a different thing.

iPhone 5 is fine, iPhone 5s would be a different story because of the buggy 64-bit libraries.

I'm with you as well however. The iOS team is ridiculous, they should at least alert their developers in advance when a new beta is coming out

You're assuming they wait for the beta to be released to the iOS beta project, they usually don't.

Apple doesn't know themselves until they finish validating a specific build and if it is signed off, then they'll release it on the same day or within next few days.

There would be no point of alerting the developers, they'll just release it when it is ready to go.

What I'm upset with is the constant crashing of iOS. I'm talking hundreds of my users having this issue in my organization. It's not made up, it's not a fake issue and it's not hardware. It's the OS and Apple has neglected myself and users all over by dragging it's feet correcting it.

For your information our Android devices have issues as well but NOT near as bad as this iOS 7 failure. The complaints to me and my department with iOS crashes out number the Android tickets by double.

We have no windows devices except DELL OptiPlex systems. That's a different story all together and not meant for this thread.

So yes I am very disappointed 7.1 has not rolled out.

I absolutely agree with you. The worst part is that iOS 7.1 for me was ready since beta 2 came out a few months ago. They should've released it as iOS 7.1 and start working on iOS 7.2 right after that to include all the improvements from b3 to b5.

As far as I can tell, there were absolutely no reasons for Apple to take this long.

I honestly have no idea what the hell is wrong with their iOS team, very disappointing lately.

Really? iTunes radio NEVER causes a soft reboot on ANY of my iDevices. Not sure what is wrong with yours.

This is a typical case of "if it happens on my device then it must happen on everybody's device as well".

Just like computers, everybody uses their device differently, so it is very difficult to determine what the common denominator is for people who are/aren't having issues with hardware or an OS.

With that said. There are definitely people who have been having crashing/re-spring issues since 7.0. Personally, like you, I'm not one of them. Nor is anybody else I know with an iPhone. That doesn't mean there aren't issues with the OS that need to be addressed.

I haven't had a BSoD on a Windows computer in over 10 years. But obviously it is an OS issue that exists.

As my posting history indicates, I am usually the first to post "mine is fine" to extinguish some of the torches and pitchforks taken up against Apple when somebody gets a scratch on their device or it breaks when they drop it while rock climbing.

But there is neutral ground between the zealots and the realists. Many of the former are just ants on the Internet out to raise the ire of the populous. But most are probably genuine with their concerns.

Everybody should keep that in mind, on any forum, before tossing stones at anybody who claims or denies a problem with their technology.

There's nothing wrong with my devices other than the fact iOS and iTunes Radio are buggy. Same thing happens on my 5S. It's been reported here and on apples forums. Seems to be a 64 bit problem.

What devices are YOU running?

Most having respringing issues especially on 64 bit devices. So yes I can say with confidence that if you have a new device, your chances of a respring is very very high. A lot of it happens during multitasking and in iTunes Radio when it's been inactive for a while or when trying to add a new station or "alter" it in any way. And it happens on my 5S and iPad air doing the same things.

Can't blame people for being pissed after 6 months with ZERO corrections to these issues. Are you forgetting Apple publicly acknowledged this a few weeks ago? The white/black screen of death.

23 pages and we still don't know what day. lol

If you don't laugh you will cry....so have a laugh :apple:

Running iPad Air and iPhone 5s. Wife is running iPhone 5. Since my 5s was replaced, the only issue I've had is with the Best Buy app.

I do agree that waiting so long for a fix is BS, but really, they're going to Android? Not gonna happen here.

Well I envy you if you have no problems with iTunes Radio. Sticking with pandora for now. It's just really convenient sometimes having everything in the music app.

It was pretty clear before the thread even started that we don't know and more than likely won't know the day/time until it actually happens. The 20+ pages are basically just random guesses and theories and it seems like all kinds of other side discussions and even bickering.

It really is insane how long iOS 7.1 is taking.

iOS 7.1 has been in beta longer than iOS 7.0 was.

Think about that. That's crazy. What's the hold up? As that chart shows, 7.1 has not only taken longer than every other .x release in iOS history, but it has actually taken longer than every x.0 release, with the exception of 2.0 and 5.0. And iOS 2.0 (known as iPhone OS 2 at the time) introduced the App Store, while iOS 5.0 introduced more new features than any other release in iOS history.

So what on Earth is taking 7.1 so long? Faster animations, a few minor GUI tweeks, and some efficiency improvements and bug squashes should NOT take this long. Unless there's some major new hidden feature in 7.1, this thing should have been out 2-3 months ago. It's getting kind of ridiculous.

Probably because 7.1 has to go through beta for itself and for what 7.0 should have still had to go through since many feel that it was rushed and should have gone through more beta versions and time. It's likely about finishing up and tweaking to improve a lot of what didn't get done for 7.0 in addition to the more typical stuff that would have gone into a x.1 release.

They rushed it in the first place. Now, they want to make sure it's polished.
That's prob. why it takes longer than it used to.
Hold on guys, it's either this week or next.

It's not THAT different guys. Aside from less crashing it has faster animations and darker green on the icons oh and a new phone app that everyone's complaining about. It's not some monumental thing.
