I'll give it a try when I get back to uni to take advantage of faster download speeds :p Maybe it'll fix some of the app compatibility issues I've been having. I was just being lazy D:

1 word... Phenomenal... I thought it was just me... But it seems it really is amazing...

Beta 4 has only been out for 11 hours so far, but has anyone experienced improved battery life?

After the OTA was done from Beta 3 -> Beta 4 honestly it feels like my battery life is much better. What do you guys think? Is your battery life still the same? Is it much improved? Or just a disaster?

EDIT:

If you have any tips or tricks to improve battery life, it would be appreciated by everyone in the community if you could post what settings you changed or if you changed anything in general.
Thanks!

Mine are noticable worse on iphone and ipad

I've never gotten more than 8 hours on my iPhone 5 even with iOS 6 I think.. Maybe I have a defective phone you guys lol..

Seriously? 8 hours is nothing. Your phone should last 18-24 hours (obviously I don't know your usage pattern).

You can't say one person gets 18 hours so another person should get the same unless they stood side by side all day long running the exact same apps. The main reason for this is the phone's power usage will vary drastically based on signal quality. I used to get great battery life, then moved to a job where, although I had 4 bars, the data service was jacked and my battery was drained by the time I left the office every day (if I didn't charge). Now that I live in Manhattan and I often end up in buildings or basements with bad signal, my battery dies quickly at those times as well.

Later within the hour I will update the post with some useful information. Basically archiving all the possible battery improvement methods in one post. Most of the methods are obviously.. Common sense but will help those who are having problems.

Keep in mind most of the system location services have low functionality to them.

The huge battery drain for ios 7 beta is the location service for the weather app? The location service did popup very frequently.

In beta 3 this was one thing that helped me. To gain more performance time, I turned off all things I didn't saw big advantages in. BTW you can turn off the moving background and moving icons under General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion. I'm sure this will help a lot too :)

This part is key for me. I'm hesitant to disable any of them because I want the functionality they provide. I want the OS to work to it's fullest capability. I hate disabling anything. It really bugs me. I'll disable things toward the end of a day when I know I'm rapidly dying w/ no ability to charge until I get home.

I'll provide some information on those functions

I put some explanations for the System Services in the original post.

Wi-Fi Networking Uses GPS to locate Wi-Fi Networks (Not sure)

Wi-Fi Networking has the same function as Mobile Network Seach, but in that case for WiFi.
Depending on your position the phone will roam between networks from mobile providers to have the best connection.

If I didn't misunderstood the blogpost, that function is useless at this time.

Add this to the first post to get more battery life:

Turn on "Reduce Motion" under General -> Accessibility. It will disable the parallax function of the background and icons.

BTW: We're using the exact same settings :)

I have absolutely noticed a HUGE increase in battery life on an unlocked iPhone 4. Usage stats below. While this wasn't a particularly heavy use day, with b3 the battery would drop 10% by the time I had gotten out of the shower after unplugging in the morning. After about an hour of straight use, I'm only dropping 6-8%. B2 was similar with battery life being almost as good on my end. In the screenshot below, I had unplugged around 2pm yesterday - light use - no charge overnight. Am currently at 6%. Light usage though. Still impressive.

mine its terrible !! 4s on beta 4, now it is at 60 % with only 1 hour and 15 mins of use! brightness at 50% and only on wifi, i have disabled all location services, why some people seems to get even 7 hours ?!

Any more information you could provide?
Did you mess with your settings? Fresh install?

I did a straight upgrade from the latest iOS 6 to iOS 7 beta 4, although right before the upgrade I did erase all settings. I should note I've been using LTE only, wifi and bluetooth are turned off. I have parallax on but no dynamic wallpaper. It's now been about 34 hours since taking it off the charger and it's currently at 38% battery, but granted I haven't used it much the past 10 hours or so since most of that time I was asleep.

Totally forgot to add that into the first post. I too have Reduce Motion ON.
Changes have been made on the first post.

Just wondering, did you UPDATE from iOS 6 to iOS 7 or did you a FRESH RESTORE?
If you updated from iOS 6 to iOS 7 by updating and not registering your UDID, there may be issues from going from 6 -> 7. Not sure what it is yet.

If you are not a developer, I suggest you get your UDID registered and do a FRESH RESTORE and do not restore from a backup. And then follow the steps in the first post.

If you are a developer, then you have no problem in restoring your phone.

Yesterday I did a DFU restore and restore from my backup then reset all settings. Signed out and signed back into all accounts (iTunes, iCloud, FT, iMessage) turned off some location services, turned off background refresh for stocks and weather.

Today I used my phone for a lot of texting and Instagram and an hour of using GPS.

Current percentage 47%
Usage - 3 hours 2 mins
Standby - 4 hours 28 mins

Looks like I fixed my battery issue

I didn't need to sign out of each account but only disabled system services and background etc. seems good for me

I don't know if this is good or bad! This is after the developers instructions- day later

That seems to be about right for iOS 7 Beta 4.
Just today after applying some changes to my settings (which are listed in the first post of this thread) I've been getting about 1hr 30 min around the 75% mark then 3hours around 50%.

Horrific battery life!!!

Disable your bluetooth if you are not using it. Disable some location services and system services (which are located inside location services) and turn OFF background app refresh. This should help your battery life.

LTE compared to 3G shouldn't make a difference according to Apple's website. They run off the same chipset so I wouldn't think it would?

fresh install fixed the battery issues, bluetooth, lte, and wifi on, background app refresh off
