This just makes sense... Apple doesn't seem to be listening though. It's absolutely frustrating that play count and other things don't sync back to iTunes on your Mac.

Yeah it is still a beta version though. I'd be shocked if this and the 5 star rating don't return to the final version. But this would be enough of a reason for me to downgrade to ios 6 and possible return to an Android device for my next phone upgrade. Rating songs is a big deal to me to sort my music and what I sync to my device.

Captain Obvious reports that beta 3 is due July 8: 2 weeks after beta 2 and 4 weeks after beta 1 hence following the trend that has basically been in place for the last 2-3 OS releases. Ugh, "news" indeed

Well Captain Uninformed, before you trash talk, do some research first, this is actually a good post, because it's nice to know when will betas be released, since the last 2-3 OS have been all over the place in days.

Here's a chart..

http://willhains.com/iOS-version-history

My guess is we will see 7 and maybe 8 betas.

Since there were pretty big UI changes isn't it possible we might see more interface changes with this beta than we've seen in others? Not major changes but just more polishing of some things that are unfinished. Or perhaps even some things they might be getting a lot of negative feedback on.

Fix the CALENDAR!!!

Screw fixing the ICONS.

Fix the calendar!!!! The new default view stinks. Switching to a month view and not seeing any indication of what days have things scheduled stinks. And the notification center sucks for calendar events as well. It does not list full day tasks, only shows 5 hours worth of hourly tasks, and rather than showing me what's on tap for tomorrow, it tells me I have 2 all day events scheduled. Instead of taking up two lines to tell me that, why not show me the 2 events!!

I swear people are complaining about ICONS when functionality needs addressed.

Many of the icons displayed at WWDC were amateurish and clearly needed work. I assume the interface designers are using this opportunity to make much needed tweaks.

It's hard to enjoy your meal if the walls in a restaurant are unsightly.

I'd like to know what people mean by "amateurish" and "unprofessional"? Is it due to the fact the icons are flat and simple with little detail?

I hope they eventually improve the iPod app.
I want to be able to skip forward when it is on Shuffle in landscape mode.
Also the ability to tag songs that I am listening to on shuffle to make a new playlist on the go.

The iPod App has TONS of areas it could be improved upon

The iPad Music app is definitely one of the WORST Apple developments ever.

I don't know what it is, but after about an hour of use of my 4s, apps start crashing like crazy. Even if I use the phone for an hour and stop for hours on end, the issue is still there. A hard reset fixes the issue for the next wave of use. It is almost as though my memory is being used and in spite of closing apps, the memory is still used. That is the only excuse I can see.

Beta 1 worked better for me.

Are you people unaware that Apple has user interface designers and app designers who can work on IOS 7 at the same time?

The guy designing the calendar app is not the same guy designing the calendar icon.

I like the icons. I think they are great. You will end up liking them too.

It's not that I don't like them, it's that I want them to be even a bit more uniform. At the very least have the gradients be the same direction.

But I also realize that the slight differences between them allow app developers to add their own touch to icons yet have them blend nicely with the OS.

Well, that's the most glaring issue with iOS 7 atm

This is where you're woefully mistaken.

The current icons are not an "issue", they're a feature ... a new design, a fresh look. They may change a little but the general idea, look, and feel will change very little between now and GM.

The new icons are part of the new iOS style. They're not going anywhere. Stay on iOS 6.

It's a good thing.

The more beta releases (and testing) the better.

I have to admit I'm a bit concerned about this release. Yeah yeah the visual stuff is going to alienate some people, but the general stability of these betas has been (at least for my development and testing purposes) far worse than any previous release I can remember. Yikes!

Constant reboots, app crashes, hangs, etc. Wow!

Probably amateurish in the sense that they are inconsistent (e.g. Game Centre v. Calendar), confusing or indistinctive (e.g. System Prefs or Photos), or just very kitsch (bright colours and gradients). If you want flat and simple icons, look at Google's overhaul of its interface guidelines. For my taste, the current default image of iOS just makes my toes curl, it looks distasteful. iOS 6 looks so much more mature and intuitive that it essentially just needed refinements rather than such a radical overhaul. I absolutely don't agree that this design is '21st century', it looks more like a failed attempt.

The icons are fine

Well, that's [i.e. the icons] the most glaring issue with iOS 7 atm

Not liking the icons is not a bug that needs fixing. The regular crashes, app incompatibilities, freezes, the non-functionality of Podcasts.app - those are glaring issues. You anti-icon people need to get a grip. An icon serves a single function: to let you identify the place on the screen to tap to launch a particular app. These icons are great for that purpose - they're easy to see, easy to differentiate, and easy to remember.

Exactly!!!!! If you think Apple is going to make any sort of major change to the icons as we see them today you are sorely mistaken.

A bunch of us have filed UI bug reports to engineers. It's not the look of the design that is the issue, it's the rise in complaints from developers and those who use it in house. Workflow and impairment from a very static, white and grey UI are the main complaints.

Summary:
Buttons and links replaced with floating text, poor contrast (may improve better longevity but at 25% or lower it is still very bright), UI lacks distinguishable detailing for ease of use, difficult for sight impaired, Calendar app does not show days with appointments in monthly view. Accessibility options for contrast and bold text slightly improve usage.

Also noted, Bluetooth on iPhone 5 does not detect parable devices. Jaybird headsets already paired worked, a few developer friends had trouble pairing, so I removed it and tried to repair it. Nada. The control panel from a bottom to top swipe interferes with other apps that require such gesture, add the option to disengage it.

While I like a lot of the features in iOS 7, ironically the design needs a lot of work.

Sorry, but on a phone screen size that small, I don't need an entire preview of whats running on the app, especially if it still isn't real-time.

While the rest of your post is your opinion, and that's fine, this statement is false. The app previews DO update in real time (maybe not consistently, but that's just a bug). I've seen it myself on a number of occassions.

I actually find it incredibly useful. Typically, I tend to use 2 apps at a time, sort of in tandem. For instance, I'll bounce back and forth between FB Page Manager and the regular FB app to manage both my personal and business page simultaneously. Or I'll switch back and forth between Safari and Music when riding the bus, hopping around from album to album. The new multitasking system is great for this, because to me it provides a quicker and more visually appealing way to go back and forth between two frequently used apps.

Photo album and game center icon desperately need changes. If you show them to people never heard of ios7, no one would associate them with photos or games.

Settings and Camera looks boringly gray and non interesting.
