Not surprising seeing that most iOS beta releases were on a two week schedule. iOS 6 was the anomaly if I remember correctly.

"redefining" ya..

Someone just put candy in my iPhone.

Let's see what happens when its released. :)

Please fix the horrid icons :(

I think the current iOS7 will be identical to what is finally shipped.

I don't know much about Apple betas specifically, but in general changes between betas are about fixing bugs and optimising code etc, not changes to the design of the software. I don't think Apple is going to change the look and feel of iOS7 between now and when it ships.

Beta testing is not focus group testing - what the product should be. Beta testing is about finding and fixing bugs, so that the final product is stable and finished

One reason Apple ships beta software to their developers to so that developers can alter and optimise their apps for the new version of the OS.

Screw fixing the ICONS.

Fix the calendar!!!! The new default view stinks. Switching to a month view and not seeing any indication of what days have things scheduled stinks. And the notification center sucks for calendar events as well. It does not list full day tasks, only shows 5 hours worth of hourly tasks, and rather than showing me what's on tap for tomorrow, it tells me I have 2 all day events scheduled. Instead of taking up two lines to tell me that, why not show me the 2 events!!

I swear people are complaining about ICONS when functionality needs addressed.

What part of BETA do you not understand?

In previous releases many apps were unusable until the final couple of betas and still had glaring bugs until the GM.

If you had looked at beta 1 and 2 you would see that Apple have already made interface changes (new shadows, text sizes and thickness) all little tweaks that I would expect to continue this time throughout the betas.

Unlike previous iOS releases this is the first where the entire OS has been given an overhaul.

What is with the severe shadows on the icons?

Is it perpetually 4 p.m. in this version of iOS?

Not to mention the outdated color scheme and that Pac-Man style bite with the icon badges.

Pass.

Looks like someone invented a new one: "Long shadow design".

I'm sick and tired of all this "I want things to change every year". Someone came up with flat design, everyone wants flat design; now a guy created long shadow design, long shadow design is the best; in a couple of months comes the rotten corpse design, and everybody will want that.

Come on, people, a device is much more than to show your friends how cool and fashionable you are.

I use the iPhone and iPad to work, not to be on fashion shows, so stop asking to change everything all the time or else it would be counterproductive to use them.

I was really hoping they would include the weather, calculator and stocks app for the ipad version but apparently apple still thinks people don't check the weather or stocks on iPads for some bizarre reason.

Other than that, I think they will want to tweak the UI a bit more before final release because the stark white and black contrast and thin typeface might look really nice on the retina displays, but I've noticed the new look makes the non retina ipad mini screen look a bit more pixelated than it did previously (I never thought it was a bad screen, just saying the UI doesn't do a good job hiding the lower resolution of the mini)

Also don't like the extreme minimalism in the Music app. It makes navigation a lot slower because there isn't enough visual separation between artist, album, track etc. plus I don't understand why they hyped up iTunes 11 during the iPhone5 campaign, and then completely dropped the new interface for the ipad which actually already had a pretty similar album view to iTunes 11 in ios6.

It's called App Store. You have a million apps for that.

Is that what causes the constant app crashes?

I'm sure it's a contributing factor. Even on my iPad with 1GB RAM I am seeing constant Safari refreshes and even crashes with only one tab loaded and no apps running in the background. On the "heavier"' more media rich sites this can become troublesome.

Perhaps you are unaware of the difference between an integrated app and a third party app and why one would be better than the other, so I will explain what should have been obvious. With an integrated app, specifically with one that already exists and just needs porting, the design and functionality is consistent with the other apps that come preinstalled. Most importantly, there are no obnoxious ads filling up half the screen of an integrated app and unless you feel that paying $1 or $2 for an app is better than paying $0 and not having to hunt down viable alternatives in the App Store, then you should understand my frustration in Apple not including 3 very frequently used apps from the iPhone version of ios in the ipad version for no apparent reason. But I guess I am the stupid one because I was completely oblivious to the App Store until you came along and provided such a wonderful suggestion.

iOS 7 bugs

You say that theres nothing else that they should change? Theres a **** tone of work needed to be done for it to finally come out. Im alright the with the icons and new features, but animations due need to be sped up. To hard to get things done when it takes 15-20 seconds to up email (that's a long time for animations) Also apps need to be updated, I've only got one update from Free Music Downloader and it was for iOS 7 bug fixes and stability fixes.

Yes its unusable on 4s but...

It might be very hard to use on a 4s but it is stated that it should be installed on testing devices not for every day use.

But favourite new feature so far - that should have been there all along - is that when a message fails to send you get a notification informing you that it has not sent, best feature thus far!

Does it fix the palette? I mean seriously did they make this UI for unicorns and fairies? Then there's the fact that some icons just look plenty worse. What's with the camera icon or Game Center (Are those bubbles? Gaming -> Bubbles, hmm, the logic is truly unparalleled)? And don't get me started on Settings.

Safari seems snappier though.

Ok. Yahoo weather. Example of an app that is free and perfectly integrated. Next time you are about to write 600 words of empty content, check the App Store.

By the way, there are many many apps like yahoo weather.

You really feel frustrated for having to go to the App Store? I'm sure you miss the nineties...

"perfectly integrated"? hmm... yes... how many apple apps have thin helvetica neue over full colour photos? how many use translucency? yahoo's horizontal slide pulls across the background photos as you slide between cities, no apple apps do this.

Anyone else using BETA 2 on an iPhone 4S?

It's been so unbelievably unstable. I know, it's BETA, it's BETA - but it hangs and apps crash almost 9 times out of 10. BETA 1 did not.

I've tried a clean restore, too.

Hopefully fixed in 3.

Well, that's the most glaring issue with iOS 7 atm

Completely agree, I think Jony is confusing art and beauty with mathematical perfection.
I can see where iOS is coming from with its perfectly designed icons but we're human beings who like to look at graphic design with a hint of emotion and art, that's where the pleasure comes from, not mathematically perfect proportions, maybe with hardware that works, but not with graphic design.

A lot, once iOS 7 is released. It's the way life, and the App Store, works.

Am really hoping beta 3 is more stable.

After two near-brickings I'm back on iOS 6 until next week, when I'll give the latest beta a go.

Going back after trying iOS 7 really highlights the functionality iOS has been missing for years. :(

Well, that was only a background, a small tweak (it still a gray background), that's not a real change of what I was talking about, iOS hasn't change from the first iOS to iOS6 until iOS7, two or three icons have had some tweaks, so, if iOS's don't even change between X.0 it's not going to change between betas.

And animations fall under the performance category.

Yeah, but this is also the first major overhaul of the UI as well. It stands to reason that if they could make UI changes for the new features, then they can do so today too.

Also iOS 1 definitely changed from the first showing to launch.
