It's a shame about the fonts. Messages look bold now and everything else is starting to look more like ios 6. Why not keep the thinner font and provide an accessibility option for those that struggle to read it?

Agreed, the thinner font was nicer, more graphics to see, you can already change the size anyway, ...make thickness an option! :)

Now a clock icon in control center that looks like the LG logo. And the only thing ever relevant for me in a control center, fast wifi terhering, is not there. The rest is almost useless for me.

+1. Seriously Apple, what the hell is with the clock icon in Control Center. It doesn't look like any clock I've ever seen. You just spent millions licensing the look of the Swiss Federal Railway clock, now use it! There is no consistency in iOS 7 and it is really disappointing.
While I'm at it, you use the compose icon in messaging and email apps, yet when it comes to the notes app you press 'NEW' to compose a new note.
Icons are not as clear as they are in iOS 6 nor is the keyboard.
I really hope these are all addressed before release. At the moment it feels things are being changed for the sake of it rather than to improve the experience. Very un-Apple.

Youtube backgrounding is back!

finally apple(or youtube?) has brought back backgrounding youtube videos!
am I the only one happy to about this? I used to use this all the time! when they removed it. I was upset...glad it's back

Holy slippery slope, batman!

Forgetting the rules doesn't mean be ****ing retarded about it. You can forget rules and make things look good. You just have to find out WHAT looks good, otherwise you end up with a generic bland user interface that looks just like everyone else's.

You still need rules to do that

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect APPLE to produce a beta that at a minimum has decent battery life. We aren't talking about some small niche company here, it's APPLE for **** sake. Stop giving them a free pass on everything.

If you expect good battery life, don't install the beta.

Simple as that.

A beta is for people to check it out, and report feedback. It's not for day to day use; it's not for your "main phone". Although, I suspect, many here use it on their main phone, and so do I. But at least I have enough sense to be aware of the fact that there may be many crashes etc.

Now for something completely different: I sent a bug report to Apple complaining about the fact that the new Messages app doesn't display time stamps; it shows only one time stamp per day, but not timestamps on individual messages. Now they're asking me if it happens on beta 3 too - this is weird because to me this looks totally intentional, and I see it on all messages, there's no timestamps anywhere. Does anyone else see this?

E.g. in messages, see if you can find a conversation where one message was sent, say, an hour after another. Does the second message have a time stamp on it? It used to, and I absolutely need to know when messages have arrived....

See the attached. Note how the last message in this thread is a bit offset from the others. That one was sent much later, like hours later. But no timestamps. Stupid.

You have no idea what logic is do you?

I do infact. In psychometric tests my consistently hits close to 100%. Everything else is crap though :p

I'm not being an arse about this, I'm just saying you need rules to design anything. Im a professional designer, I should know ;)

Emboldening type creates a visual hierarchy so having smaller bolder type with lighter headings gives an uneasy balance over all. Its subtle and not many people would be able to notice whats wrong but it wouldn't feel/look right. Thats why they've gone up a weight on everything, to keep the balance.
I said above a certain size; i.e - ultra light for most text and bolder for larger text (headings etc.) which I think would be nice and natural.

I dunno, I just don't like bold on smaller text; I thought the ultra light looked really nice as a standard font, but I didn't think it worked so well at larger sizes.

If you embolden above a certain seize that means you are keeping the thinner font for the smaller sizes which is the problem.

Unless Im misreading your post?!

I can delete specific messages within a text.
Broken in beta 2.

But it still crashes the app from time to time when I delete them.

Not working for me

Moving right along...

I would like to see a return of the share widget though. It made life so much easier. Hopefully all in due time.

For the first time since its release over a year ago?! :p I'll believe it when I see it.

I ended up switching to iCatcher, which has more options and is frequently updated (although not without its own quirks). We'll have to see how Podcasts is in the final release of iOS 7.

I've been going the route of deleting the podcasts app, which allows the podcasts to show up in the Music app again (if you close and reload it). The main downside is that there's then no way to download new episodes directly from the device. Still, it's worth the trade-off for me - I hope they don't remove that option in iOS 7, but I'm at least 85% sure they will.

Matt

I don't know if this has been answered yet, if so I haven't read anything on it; but how is performance of iOS 7 on the 4s? Those with experience on the matter: has the performance increased over iOS 6? I would think with a simpler GUI that it would free up system resources to allow the 4s to be faster/snappier.

iOS 6 has made my 4s run like ****. It is constantly crashing and freezing. It almost feels like an early android phone where everything is slow and unresponsive. I'm eager to upgrade iOS just because terrible performance of iOS6 on my 4s.
^??

Really HOT!!

I've been running on 7B3 for a while now and boy the phone gets REALLY HOT when its screen is on. Even just scanning through facebook news feed for 5-10 mins gets the phone so hot I almost can't hold it.

If you don't want to put up with the problems inherent in beta software don't load beta software on your device. It really is that simple.

Ah, cool thanks for the helpful tip!

----------

Yes, it's unreasonable to expect that. It's unreasonable to expect anything at all, since it's a beta version.
A beta version has non-optimized code, logs practically everything and sends those reports back to Apple, so a poor battery performance is expected to account these operations.

This is not a free pass and has nothing to do with Apple. That's just how software engineering works.

LOL Apple apologists are in force today!

You'd have to swipe left to view time stamps.

Yes, that was really the last straw for me actually. I used to look for new episodes all the time on my phone. Once I was forced to choose between either having the Podcasts app with its slow and annoying UI, or the Music app that wouldn't let me download new episodes, I decided to choose none of the above and look for another solution.

just a black screen after IOS7 Beta 3

My battery has been acting strangely. It would drain VERY rapidly with iOS 7.
Now with beta 3 it's just sucked the life out of it.
Right now, the iPhone's connected to my iMac and there is absolutely nothing going on; no Apple logo, no battery charging, no sign that it's on at all - just a black screen. Bricked.
iOS7 bricked my iPhone.
Dead.

This just happend to me, RIGHT now! What was the solution? Its not even charging (my iPhone is really cold, normally it gets really hot during a charge)

Does anyone have any knowledge on this issue?

I have to add that my "lock"-button has not worked the last 6 months. so? I cant hold lock+home.

For the last time. Turn off all the system location services. You don't need them and it will boost your battery life dramatically.

it works but still iOS6 has some fantastic battery timings. Even with location services on.

iOS7 keeps getting better. I definitely like this.
Short question, is it possible to hide the name of the carrier from the status bar?
