The update to the messages app show the first name and the first initial of the last name.

In my contacts, I have:
Eric Wood
Eric Williams

If the messages app reduces the name of both to "Eric W" how am I supposed to tell who I am talking to easily. I think this update needs to be reverted, like "NOW" because that is going to cause a lot of issues.

You should just stop being friends with one of the guys and delete them from your contacts.

Get rid of Eric, I never liked him.

Just wrapping up the update...

Hopefully they fixed the issue where Spotify would crash every time you used the volume control... I still don't know if that's an iOS issue or a Spotify issue though...

*EDIT* - ... crap...

Flagged Emails!

It looks like they finally added flagged emails to iOS 7 Beta 4!

It was nice when you could play music by Genre and Shuffle it. I wouldn't mind having that back otherwise I need to create playlists.

There are some very radical iOS changes. Some are nice but others are quite disturbing. Will the next iPhone bring the Apple flagship product back on par with Samsung G4?

On par? Let me know when the G4 matches the iPhone in sales. iOS is simply a better experience and the tight integration between software and hardware allows Apple to provide better performance with less hardware.

The Music app seems to be moving backward in the functionality that I was hoping for.

I have iTunes Match and regularly switch 'Show All Music' on and off depending on whether I was to listen to local music or cloud music, mainly because showing all music is overwhelming for the most part.

In iOS 6, you could swipe to delete music from your local library, by swiping individual songs, albums, or even artists. In iOS 7 Betas, we lost swiping albums and artists, and deleting individual songs crashed the Music app, but worked. Now in Beta 4 there seems to be no more local music management at all???

I was hoping with tempting more people into iTunes Match subscriptions with iTunes Radio, we would get more control (like a switch within the actual Music app to turn Show All Music on and off)... Not less...

What is the point of tweaking the gradient on the icons, when the issue is that they need replacing?

Seriously I am going to post Jony Ive a freakin colour wheel. (yes I know he didn't design them, but he ought to be fixing them)

There are too many other things to go into detail here, that are bad design. Back arrows bigger than accompanying text, bright yellow text on a white background, all of control centre, icons without textual clues, it goes on.

The features are great, but the look and feel? I am amazed that they are going to release this. They are not addressing the obvious errors, from what is clearly a rushed effort due to time constraints after Scott's departure.

Well people said it was polarising. It certainly is, but it needn't be.

Those icons though!!!??£@#!?!# Please, my eyes!

not sure if it's been mentioned but you can change the "Short Name" format in Mail, Contacts & Calendars settings. you can turn it off too.

The initial shorting in messages is really going to ******* me right off! I hope they change this back

The History field under Frequent Locations in the Location Services>System Services section now has more detailed information available regarding locations.

swiping left and right in notifications center toggles between Today/All/Missed

Inline remote killed in Beta 4?

Beta 4 seems to have killed the inline remote function for headphones (I'm using Bose MIE2i's on an iPhone 4S). Rebooted the phone but no luck! Worked fine in Beta 3.

Edit: The volume buttons work and holding the center button initiates Siri but Play/Pause/Skip doesn't work.

No one has found this yet but now in my iPhone 5 I can slide on individual notifications when music is playing, rather than only being able to only 'slide to unlock' and you can now also scroll through the notifications but this comes at a cost; the album artworks are now low resolutions so therefore look horrible as they are really pixilated.

I've got Apple earpods and only volume functions work. The "middle" button doesn't seem to work anymore.
