Except First Name, Last Initial isn't an issue anyway. You only see the shortened name *in conversation*, not when starting or selecting one.

If you launch Messages you'll see their full names, Eric Wood and Eric Williams.

If you open up a message thread or start a new conversation with one of those people you'll only see "Eric W", but a) you should know what you just clicked on, b) there's a "Contact" button that brings up their full name and other buttons.

It looks like they finally added flagged emails to iOS 7 Beta 4!
It's been there all along, you could add various different types of "filters" by going to the edit button and selecting which ones you want to see.

The initial shorting in messages is really going to ******* me right off! I hope they change this back
Just change the setting for that in settings, as mentioned in various posts.

----------

Has anyone noticed that you can no longer trim videos in iOS 7? Was this feature moved or removed?
You still can, but it's a little harder to get to--takes more attempts/taps to get it right.

----------

You've been able to do it on iOS for a long time, also (swipe to the side). But it wasn't working correctly in earlier versions of iOS 7 beta.
Swiping a notification up was working in previous iOS 7 betas as well (and, as you mentioned, was there in iOS 6 and before either by swiping right to left on a notification or by pulling it just slightly down and then swiping it up).

How dare they not support BETA software! You should totally give them a 1-star review in the app store!

You're not funny. Try again.

As has already been discussed in this thread several times. You don't need to wait for iOS7's official release to update your app. Other Devs are already churning out iOS7 support updates.

My twitter app doesn't seem to be working after this update. Anybody else having the same issue?
Are you talking about the navigational buttons at the bottom of the app? If you tap and hold them for a second or so that will work (or tapping as usual but at the very top of those buttons also seems to work).

most other stuff has changed, but my mail/safari icons haven't. don't know if i can be bothered doing a full restore

"Folders - The fade animation for folders located in the dock has been updated to function properly."

Please define properly because in my iPhone 4s, the folders transparency have been reverted to an opaque background while in the dock. I believe Beta 3 folders in the dock were transparent. Is opaque the proper way?

I believe that's more in reference to the opening and closing of folders that are in the dock (which used to be very instant/jumpy without animations).

I don't quite agree with this, or at least that's not what I see. As a matter of fact, in Beta 3, the animation was even more subtle and smoother when opening and closing folders (it went from transparent in the dock, to opaque when fully opened, now it's opaque all the time).

I would have preferred Beta 3 folder's behavior. Also, I don't think opaque folders covering your background is appealing at all IMO.

So what am I missing here? When has Bluetooth required a "touch" between devices? Do the new iPhone and ATV finally have NFC? Or am I reading too much into it? :D

Interesting...it should have said, "pair", rather than "touch".

This is big! Incoming notifications can be swiped away!!! Yeah!!! Just swipe up when the notification appears!!!! Great news. I wish it was a different gesture, but that will also do!!!

Yes, why not swipe "right" like in OSX???

According to another poster in another thread you literally have to place the iDevice on the AppleTV. He thought it was bull but it worked. It has to be some sort of Bluetooth transmission sensing algorithm.

Here is something I noticed but don't knowing it is new. On the dbl click / multitasking window onhe iPad you can close three apps at the same time. Multitouch works. Swipe 1, 2 or 3 apps up to close them at the same time.

Haven't seen this referenced yet - Notification Centre worked out that I was on my way to work, and offered an estimate of how long it would take to get there. Tapping the notification dropped me in to Maps, and provided directions.

This just gets worse and worse. I wonder how many iOS7 users will be digging into the accessibility functions and features for the first time just to be able to use their iPhone.

1. You.

Or rather more correctly 0. Since you don't sound like a genuine iOS user.

anyone notice the headphone play/pause/change track is broken? i can only change volume and command siri. i can play/pause/change track on pandora but not music app?? that's disappointing since i use my head phones a lot. :(

Am I alone in thinking that Microsoft's UI prowess has improved immeasurably over the last 5-6 years? Looking at the UI for the XBox 360 and Windows 7/8, it's hard to deny that Microsoft finally has a decent grasp on UI design, at least visually. I won't go so far as to say they've caught up with Apple (in my experience the functionality and organization still gets muddled by MS) but visually, I have no complaints with them. Long gone are the days of UI abominations like Windows XP.

I think insulting a UI by calling it "Microsoft-like" has become an anachronism at this point.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
