Maybe Apple will surprise the users with some redesigned icons

Why did Steve love Skeuomorphic designs ?

Usability and accessibility. By having real world correlations it made it easier for people to adapt and learn to use computers.

Compare the original Mac OS to DOS. Which system was easier for most people?

He and Forstall just went to far with it. Some of it is great and invites you to use the app. 'iBooks' is perfect in my opinion. Other times, like 'Find my Friends' is just annoying. There's a delicate balance.

Can you remove the Radio link from that screen – and replace it with something else from the More menu – like Songs? Like you can on iOS 6?

I don't think I'd use iTunes radio.

Yes, you can move those tab icons around or replace them with any of the others from the More menu.

my only 2 gripes are the Music app....

(like in the lock screen, if you use the time slider, it gets stuck once you unlock the screen, reverting to some xxxx seconds rewind)
And I don't like the | for slide indicators... the silver circle knob was more accurate...

Font size, revert back to "Ultra Light" (or have an option to do so, like bold)

Then, I think iOS 7 is flawless (for better or worse terms)

Taking away the ability to shuffle all songs by an artist? Yeah yeah you can tell Siri to, "shuffle songs by System of a Down," but this shouldn't have to be the only way to accomplish this...

It isn't.
Fixed in beta-5.
Select artist -- select any song by artist -- select shuffle all.

iOS7 Is perfect in every way, it needed that change 6 looks horrible and you watch everything turn to parallax, websites are starting to use parallax and responsive scrolling, no doubt android will follow suit but I do agree the music app has issues where you have to scroll through all the songs in an album to get to the next (artist view) which is what I always use. But hay not going to loose sleep over it I'm sure if it bothered people that much they'd switch to Android

This is astonishingly fast work from Ives and Apple. Massive OS overhaul in a matter of months, shaking things up in really exciting ways. Not incremental, for once! (Even given that a lot of non-UI stuff was in the works pre-Ives.)

As a result:

1. It will be one of the scariest software updates ever, and I will NOT be an early-adopter guinea pig. Any product, from ANY company, gets a bigger test at public release than it ever got in beta. I want the benefit of that "public test" period, not the punishment of it!

2. It will be one of the most desirable software updates ever. It will KILL me to wait! I can understand why so many foolhardy souls jumped to install even early betas. Be strong! Wait for .0.1! Or even .1.1...

You are, yes, but not everyone that's running beta 5 is experiencing this. I've been reading in the forums that beta 5 for a lot of people is butter. Hopefully the upcoming beta makes it more stable for everyone else...

The current beta contains bugs which result in crashes. The end.

I don't have a special iPhone. ;)

That said, I do like the OS a lot - and being a developer, I'm very tolerant of the work being in-progress.

Don't we usually get new iOS on keynote day? I want it on keynote day!! Can't wait though.

Why did Steve love Skeuomorphic designs ?

I enjoy the new design and was never opinionated on skeuomorphic designs either way. Ultimately, I do prefer what iOS 7 is doing but the skeuomorphism was a great introduction to the iPad, in particular. It helped sell the idea of what it was for to a wider audience. You see a notepad, you see a calendar, etc. It helped define the iPad as something set apart from the old Windows tablets, for instance.

And while I'm enjoying the lack of design noise on my phone as I beta test, I'm actually a little concerned at how my Mother will do with the transition to iOS 7 as she is just getting used to her iPad mini.

Stability issues are more important for roll out. Icon designs have nothing to do with performance.

Of course. I was just trying to explain why you see more complaints of icons, even though it's not as important for the release.

(Not to mention, stability can vary wildly between devices.)

Especially iPad builds.. Wow.

I wouldn't be surprised if the iPad release comes in October along with the new iPads.

I would really like being able to customize what toggles I want on control center .. 3g/LTE and edge toggles are more important to me

Regarding #1, if everyone took your approach who would be doing public testing?

I'm thinking that having multiple user accounts might require more resources

I can see why Apple don't want multiple user accounts - they'd prefer that families didn't share one iPad, etc.

But they do need a guest account feature similar to the one in OS X. People are always asking to check their mail/Facebook/whatever on my iphone. The problem is that I'm permanently signed into my work email, Twitter and Facebook accounts, not to mention Safari, photos, banking apps, Messages, a journaling app, etc. It's not that I don't trust people, but it would sure be nice and convenient to just have a guest mode.

Oh dear... My iOS 7 app may not be ready in time. Does Apple normally request apps for the new version of iOS before or after giving the GM to developers (or simultaneously?)

Also, any idea when Maverick is going to be released? A developer has notified me that my app doesn't launch on it (I've been so focused on iOS 7 that I hadn't even thought to check if my existing apps worked on Maverick) - I need to fix that too...

iPad 3 Support

It really irritates me to see planned obsolescence at its finest with Apple's former flagship tablet, the OG "new" iPad.

With each beta released, this iPad 3 was stripped of more and more features/niceties while the performance and overall responsiveness seemingly tanked. Just as it was *shocking* to see a new model released so soon after the "resolutionary" iPad, it too is boggling that iOS feels so damn sluggish on the unit. It just appears to be too soon.

Do I +need+ to upgrade to an iPad 5? Absolutely not. Will I? Yes. So will many other people; Apple knows that, and they've planned accordingly.
