It really irritates me to see planned obsolescence at its finest with Apple's former flagship tablet, the OG "new" iPad.

With each beta released, this iPad 3 was stripped of more and more features/niceties while the performance and overall responsiveness seemingly tanked. Just as it was *shocking* to see a new model released so soon after the "resolutionary" iPad, it too is boggling that iOS feels so damn sluggish on the unit. It just appears to be too soon.

Do I +need+ to upgrade to an iPad 5? Absolutely not. Will I? Yes. So will many other people; Apple knows that, and they've planned accordingly.

the iPad 3 never should have been released. The hardware isn't powerful enough to handle the screen, let alone future versions of iOS

Your mother is probably smarter than you give her credit for. She can probably spell "accustomed" correctly.

iOS 7 is much, much better than iOS 6. It's fast and — yes — intuitive.

Why do people complaining about the usability of iOS 7 always mention OTHER people having POSSIBLE issues with it? Never themselves, always those OTHER people who aren't smart enough to figure it out. Riiiiight.

It's the same reason why the majority think they are above average in intelligence, looks, driving skills, etc.

I found many bugs in iOS 7 beta 5 on iPhone 5
Lock sound
Push notifications
Unable to download or update apps
Unable to download from iTunes store
Status bar when switching views somtimes disappears
Internet lags
Think these were more the major one's

Wow, time has flew. I remember installing Beta 1, now its nearly over.
"Wow, time flew!" or "Wow, time has flown!"
I need to know when that update will be ready so I can coordinate my efforts to remind my mother and anyone else who is not into shiny but worse usability not to upgrade. If my mother updates her iPhone the next day I will be getting calls about why it looks funny, where she should be tapping, and how to just bring back the interface she is accomstomed to....
Worse usability? You've not used it then, iOS 7 has much better functionality than iOS 6!

...Just tell her now that a big change is coming and not to update until you show it to her...then update yours first and show her how it works next time you see her after that...she can update while you are there and you can help her get used to it (or have her update night before)...personally, I find it works better, but, especially the older a person is, they don't like change...but, how did they change to the smart phone in the first place, right?
I like iOS 7 but they completely ruined the Music app, which was used to be one of the best mobile apps ever (not just for music). It was polished, intuitive and had a lot of functionality just one tap away. Now, not so much:

- Artist letter scroll is gone
- Album and artist view has huge album covers at each item, making it a scrolling festival

This makes navigating a lot more difficult.

I really wish they'd keep it iOS 6 style with an iOS 7 look.
The new Music app really is horrible. Far too much scrolling is necessary when you have artists with multiple albums on your device.
That must be the album tab. The artist tab has no letters.
These are all there, you just want it to be like the OLD...but I happen to like the NEW changes, Artists now shows you which album the tracks are associated with. Now you can just click on the shuffle button on the album (or scroll all the way to the top if one album) and SHUFFLE play all songs by the artist. ...You can always go to iTunes on your computer and make playlists if you want it organized differently.

Personally, I'd like to see Apple take this one step further...click on the Album icon here takes you to just that Album...then when you click on Shuffle it shuffle plays that album only.

I'll install ios 7 when it is golden master, if its release on 10 sept for developer
Then public release might be 2 weeks after so plenty time for me to check the apps compatibility.
Apps are currently being (and will be) updated to work with iOS 7. It just depends on how difficult it is for each developer to update their app...a few are already updated, many work without updating, some crash on startup or have bugs...these are the ones to wait for. If you have critical apps, check the list on this site before updating, there is a list created with each release of iOS 7 (go to Forums, iOS 7).

A general statement about iOS 7: I'm finding the more I use it, the more I like it, but, if you go into it with the attitude, "I want it to be like it was", you'll never like it, you need to let go of the past and be open to change, when you do, you find out how much better it is. (Apply this to anything in life.)

Release the ipad mini w/retina && iOS 7 already!

I have been holding off purchasing a 64gb ipad mini (with LTE) for an in-dash installation in my new car. hurry up already, i wanna show off! :D:D:D

I agree! I just can't help but feel /a wee bit/ taken-advantage-of. But that's business, eh?

I bought the iPAd 3 on launch and returned a few days later. Couldn't handle the lag.

its embarrassing that Apple even released it to begin with.

glad i didn't buy the rMBP... they appear to suffer the same curse

Curious to see what changes between now and GM. The current beta is pretty clean and I haven't had any major issues with it.

I hope its not the last beta, I still have major issues with syncing music.

I compress my tracks to 128kbps and when I do that, sync never completes. My last attempt I aborted after 17 hours at step 4 of 4 and then it had only transferred some 5000 of 12000 tracks. when I tried to remove them to reduce the number, I had 20Gb of "Other Data" which I couldn't remove without deleting all settings and contents under General and then restoring from a backup.

And I don't like the | for slide indicators... the silver circle knob was more accurate...

Font size, revert back to "Ultra Light" (or have an option to do so, like bold)

what "silver circle knob"??? I recall a ^ ...but prefer nothing, not needed...except maybe the very first time someone uses the idevice, so it's redundant. (maybe it doesn't look so bad on an iPad, but it kind of takes up unnecessary space on iphone home screen, making an otherwise pretty home screen look a bit clunky.)

I too would like the option to have "Ultra Light" be my font...you'd think by now Apple would let us have at least a couple font choices, since they were the ones to obsolete typesetting with desktop publishing on the Mac years ago!! :apple:

No, but I am complaining about the terrible look of the iPod app. Bundling all albums/songs by an Artist into one screen? Taking away the ability to shuffle all songs by an artist? Yeah yeah you can tell Siri to, "shuffle songs by System of a Down," but this shouldn't have to be the only way to accomplish this...

And has anyone else noticed pano-wallpaper panning get broken in Beta 5? Mine did. And that god-awful wait time for a reboot. *sigh*

I love iOS 7 don't get me wrong. This late in the beta testing, its the little things you can nit-pick and complain about. :D

You can turn that grouping off in Settings.

Hasn't it been pretty horrible for the last two or three versions of iOS? At least on iPad.

i may be using it wrong, but I like the iPad version. what I miss is being able to add songs that exist in another playlist. not really a problem or deal breaker, just made things easier before...

With how much they've changed between each beta, I wonder if, in updates, they will change a lot like in each beta. The little things like slight mods to icons or placement of UI elements, or even behavior of post-input animations. Will things like that still change after the official release in 7.0.1 or 7.1?

Apple doesn't consider phones a back to school item so it makes sense they would wait and focus on computers and tablets for BTS
Not sure about that analysis.... iPads and likely Mac updates are coming out in October; even later into the school year than the iPhone event.

You shouldn't try Nexus 7 or 10 then.

I hope they do another 2 more betas. For me it seems that it needs a little more polishing up and refinement before it should be deemed "golden"

I can the iphone variant of the os is pretty decent now. The ipad version well now that bad boy needs some serious love before it gets out there in the wild. The ipad has some show stopper bugs which i am sure will get fixed in the next beta release but it was amateur hour mistake to let it out the door like that.

iOS 7 for iPads Mini and Maxxi will not be released at the same time as iOS 7 for iPhone. It will continue developer testing until iPad announcement. My guess...
