Question, I know GM's are supposed to be identical to the final release, but is there flexibility in that, could Apple hold new icons back from the GM so that they can show them first at the event?

No. And why would they change the icons in iOS 7 and then hold back their "real" design for the actual announcement? Doesn't make sense.

They must have made a load of bug fixes in the last two weeks then because much as i like the new iOS it's still FULL of bugs (and big bugs at that)

yes, I agree there are bugs, some new but they have fixed all reported bugs that I have sent in. many of the reported bugs that were marked as duplicates are fixed as well with only a few that still need fixing. with each beta I find that there are less system problems. How well are they doing with your bug reports?

also if you find that they are not answering your bug reporting, try watching this years wwdc video on how to submit a bug report, it is very helpful.

In addition to this question, are you finding it more efficient or faster to use? What is the advantage of the flat design? Honestly, after playing with it last evening it looks pretty ugly, reminds me of using DOS.

Personally, I love iOS 7 in comparison to iOS 6. There's less clutter, which makes it quite a bit easier to use for me. I also love the overall look and feel of it all and how it flows. The animations make it feel really layered and classy.

I dunno, I personally have zero complaints about iOS 7 at this point aside from minor bugs which are to be expected.

I'm not too sure how you would compare an OS as clean and easy to use as iOS 7 to DOS, but to each his own I guess?

I'm not a dev, but just downloaded it and have been using it on my iPhone 4. The lowest phone to support it.

On the iPhone4 it's pretty much a buggy, ugly, pos. You don't get much of the cool factor. Blurry backgrounds, refraction effect, etc. For example the controls that come up from the bottom are just a transparent grey. Not the blurry look. And notification center from the top is just barely a transparent black background. No blur fx there either. In fact, it makes you realize the bare bones of iOS7 are really just kinda ugly. it's only the blur fx that give it any wow factor. I much prefer iOS6 notifications. The iOS7 version takes up ridiculous amounts of space, doesn't give you much info (weather for example), doesn't have Facebook/twitter posting, and stocks take up a whole screen instead of a line.

App switching is lame too. I much prefer the minimal ios6 version. Ditto with folders. Folders on ios6 was so cool I thought. In 7 it's this lame little square that you zoom in on. Blech.

I have to disagree. I have iPhone 4 and I think it's pretty cool. I haven't run into problems. I'm used to my phone being slower than an iPhone 5. I don't notice it being any slower with iOS7. I've tried all my apps and used the phone quite a bit. There has to be some benefits to using a newer iPhone, I can't complain about that. I will be upgrading in September. I've had this phone since 2010 when it was launched.

I even like the way iOS7 looks on my old iPhone 4. I realize that I'm not going to have the parallax effect on my home screen and, of course, I don't have Siri as that came with 4S, so I make allowances.

I would still like a simple "Delete All" option for Junk Mail instead of having to tediously tick every single item and then move it to Trash.

why would they release BETAs so quickly, makes no sense, Beta 7 will probabe arrive one week later after which we'll see the final version of iOS 7. in my opinion, this rumor is wrong.

In 19 minutes from now, you'll be proven wrong. It's been 2 weeks since beta 5, so it's fully in-line with pervious betas (with beta 6 simply being a hot-fix)

I hope they will finally include the fingerprint scanning feature in this beta!

Apple is so dumb, they don't even realize there's hardly any time left for us to beta-test the feature!

Surely this is a joke comment right? How the hell would they introduce the software feature for it when the hardware feature isn't available yet?

They could do this but it's unlikely that they will.

I think those hoping for new icons are going to be disappointed; the icons were pretty much decided when IOS 7 was announced. One reason this won't change is the large amount of marketing collateral which has to be produced; it would all have to be redone if there were major changes.

Can someone who's had access to these betas tell me what iOS 7 is like? Does it feel solid? What do you think of its design?

Its awesome i have ios 7 on my iphone 5 and other devices has ios 6, cant even look at the screen of ios 6 its so 19.....

A firmware upgrade for the screen? You know it's a capacitive screen, right?

You do know that's not how capacitive screens actually work, right ? ;) /s

Let's see who thinks I'm being serious...

Thank god. I was going to call for the loony police ;)

If I'm not mistaken, there was no chance for developers to test Siri. Siri has so far remained a system function and not an API for developers to test. Therefore, there was no reason to test it with them. If you have 100+ engineers testing it, that's really enough to test it. The only thing we have heard about the fingerprint sensor is that it would help with unlocking the phone. That's it, so they don't need to have developers test it.
On a similar note, why would they seed software for which no public hardware exists? Even if people could start writing code for it, there is no way for it to be tested. There is literally no hardware for it yet.

I have no idea how to respond to this...

Surely you are joking too right? What the hell does a capacitive screen have to do with reading fingerprints? You have seen the rumors here on MACRUMORS about the home button being changed to become the fingerprint reader right?
