I'm sure it will be fine in use but DAMN iOS 7 is freaking UGLY!!! And before people start yelling Troll, I very much like apple products and own many. I wish they has removed the excess skeuomorphism but left some gloss and reflection and 3D.

Good luck on that one. ;)

Seriously, there are some great features (that unfortunately we had to wait this long to get) and people are whining and moaning about the design of the safari app icon.

To me it's a big thumbs up to Craig and Jony for finally giving us stuff other OS's have had for a while now. And major props to both for taking on a major redesign in only 6 months. It's certainly not perfect but its a good start and actually quite amazing what they were able to so in such a short period of time.

What happens when you don't have connection? It will start showing an incorrect forecast. Better to be a generic icon than an unreliable one. Clock or calendar obviously does not have the same dependance on internet connection.

lol! this is flawless logic.

How often are you unable to ping internet data for a refresh? Seriously? Quit drinking the WE DONT NEED WIDGETS Kool Aid.

It's freakin awesome

Couple of things I would want to see in future releases though: Airdrop support for anything that runs airdrop (ios-osx combo) as opposed to just ios, quick reply, real time app icon updates

Same here. This is a beautiful piece of software. Even the die-hard android fans I know aren't going on like "ERMAGERD, GOOGLE INVENTED EVERYTHING IN IOS 7 FIRST!" They're basically admitting that they really like iOS 7.

This is such twisted logic. Do you actually believe yourself or just trolling?

I'm saying that some android fans I know even admit that they like iOS 7, and don't just skip to conclusions that google and Samsung already invented everything present in iOS.

If people would focus on the features instead of obsessing over the damn app icons they'd probably like it too. :D

People seem to have become professional design critics all if a sudden. I bet that they are all more successful than jony ive as a designer.

Liking the aesthetic changes does not make one love iOS7. Live wallpapers, quick toggles, these are only parts of the Android OS. 3rd party apps as default, widgets, customized interfaces (i.e., keyboards) are just a few of the system level differences that aren't apart of iOS. These changes are largely superficial.

ugly

it looks like Android:(
it looks unfinished:(

to simplify ios6 was a great idea, but this is just ugly!

I love it all.
BUT
I am a tad dissapointed there are no widgets or at least some sort of alternate structure that can be enabled per screen to break up the rows and rows of icons. This still has the same old 2007 iPhone look on face value. Would be nice to have a space, say 2 rows worth where I can have a large permanent noti center or clock with weather or what ever your most used quick glance app is.
Maybe more live icons(live tiles)
That would make it PERFECT for me. But all in all, this is pretty much what I was hoping for. Lets hope everything functions as described.
Awesome job Apple and great presentations.

Yes he would have said people don't need quick access to wifi and Bluetooth. Or anything on the lock screen but the time and date. That's why we didn't get useful features like that when he was around.

you have no idea what a deceased person would say about current events today.

also, remember Jobs was quoted as saying apple was *not* a one-man show, that his team made their own decisions. cant find the quote i had in mind, but heres another one:

"My model for business is the Beatles. They were four guys who kept each other's kind of negative tendencies in check. They balanced each other, and the total was greater than the sum of the parts. That's how I see business: Great things in business are never done by one person. They're done by a team of people." ("60 Minutes," 2003)

After using IOS 7, I agree that it seems unfinished. It will improve and become more cohesive over the years. A drastic change was required. The older lockscreen was terrible and hideous. By IOS 8, this new look will be more unified and other devs may create flat icons for their apps as well.

Been using it for about a day, and I'm very much reminded of... Office 2013. Very bright, heavy use of white and readable fonts.

I found myself trying to click a button several times in some situations, trying to get a response. Might just be an indication of where the software is during the initial beta however.

Once you get over the fresh coat of paint, and the transitions, there's not much new.

Considering Maps, Passbook and Safari improvements last time, this one seems a lot less of an upgrade. Weather is almost a 'lite' version of Yahoo Weather with animation.

The OS is nice and responsive on my iPod Touch 5G, though only after app, initial photo and music sync completed.

SMS for Do Not Disturb

Any more customisation of Do not Disturb? Finer grained controls would make this little feature perfect.

It would be great if SMS could also be included in DND since I use SMS a lot more than phone calls. My alarm on my motorhome uses SMS to let me know about alarms and I would like to be able to use DND but get alerts from the alarm if it goes off at 4:00 AM.

Can one of the developers please check this and reply?

Thanks!

Is double tapping the Home button the only way to bring out the multiple apps screen? Does it mean iPhone 5S/6 still has a Home button?

Whatever. We didn't get them when he was around so now Federighi gets crap for copying from other OS's to bring useful features to iOS that probably should have been there two or more years ago.

Can the automatic update be set to WiFi only? Otherwise, it's begging to be disabled.
That would be a part of the tracking cellular per app. You can disable it for any app, including the App Store.
