I can defo see iOS6 style apps draining my battery more... Especially whatsapp, I texted with my gf for like an hour and battery went down 20%. Brightness is maybe at 35%

Whatsapp has always been a battery drainer. I hope they can solve that issue in future versions.

About iOS7 GM on my iP5. My battery is actually better. In iOS6 and iOS7 betas, I got about 7h of use and 24h standby.
Yesterday I had 7h of use and 24h standby and still had 25% battery left. Now I have 14h of standby and 2,5h of use, and still have 70% left.

That's damn good! Did you update or restore to iOS 7 GM?

I know this is not on topic, but can someone please answer this:
When the final gets released on wednesday, will my iTunes still say that there is an update available?

I believe it will, since the build number will be different. Could be wrong though, someone feel free to correct me.

Again, same question to you - Did you update or restore to iOS 7 GM?

I used restore in iTunes, then used my backup of iOS7 beta 6 to regain my data. But I still think it drains too much since I do remember my iPhone 4 with iOS6, I never ever had to worry about my battery life, even with all connections on. But since iOS7, I always have to monitor my battery life and it really feels very uncomfortable. Battery life has always been one of the unique selling points of the iphone that makes me choose the iphone.

I always kept on hoping that it would get better with new beta's but it's not...

Even when listening to music when I'm going to work with public transport, it takes about an hour, the battery drains to 78%-80% when arriving at work. That's too much imo. Using spotify btw, offline playlists.

Well you restored the phone, which basically should clean all the issues up. But afterwards you used your old backup which is THE SAME as just updating instead of restoring!

I'm thinking that the things that could cause the battery drains, has something to do with iOS7, and not the data that I restore. How can I otherwise restore my pictures in the same resolution?

If you're already running the GM, there will be nothing to update to since the GM is the final public release. So no, nothing will show up in iTunes on Wednesday for you if you're running the GM.

Yes but the build number will be different, so it depends what iTunes takes as determining the version you have.

I did a dfu install with an iCloud restore and my battery life is no different from beta 6. I did not reset network settings.

CDMA iPhone 5

Three iPhone 5's

I have two iPhone 5 devices and a colleague has one.

I have noticed a battery difference between beta 6 to GM, but it does depend on use. My "work" 5, appears to drain more rapidly, but it has more use. The difference I note, is that on Beta 6, they seem to drain about equivalently, and on Beta 1, the life was terrible (to be expected in a B1 release.)

My colleague's stated his battery life is terrible. His phone was full, so he has done a fresh install, and selectively installed only the stuff he needs. So, in his case, no restore of any sort.

This intrigued me, because I never experience the battery issues he does (his performance is similar to the original posters.) Long time ago, I made it a habit to "close" all the open apps, and found this does conserve battery life. IOS 7 has made this much easier with the swipe function. He stated he never closes his apps, just leaves them open.

I would attribute this to more of apps not being ported to IOS 7, vice a real issue within the OS. I am sure, as with all new releases, there are tuning measures that can be done to get better performance out of the battery in the OS layer, which we will see over the next few weeks.

My typical experience is as follows:

1. Both phones get plugged in when I get to work, and get fully charged.
2. About 9 to 10 AM, or when meetings occur, they are disconnected.
3. They will not get put back on the charger until the next morning.

Today, my "work" phone was at 73%, and my "personal" was at 84%. They where both unplugged around 10AM yesterday. Again, after each use and before I lock the screen, I close all apps. I am on the GM release.

I would be curious to see what other's experience is with closing the apps. I know this is counter to quick app switching, and such. I have made it such a habit, it really doesn't phase me to close and re-open the apps.

Yesterday I was at 4% with 7h and 9m of use and 12h 1m of standby.

I would suggest a couple of things.

First, try a restore to iOS 7 GM. Second, it may be an app you use regularly that simply isn't compatible with iOS 7 quite yet, despite "working." You may be waiting till the 20th for a "working" update, or perhaps beyond. This isn't likely, but it's still a possibility.

Either way, if this issue happened after upgrade to iOS 7 GM, it's clearly a software issue of some sort.

thanks for helping..:)

Seems pretty much "usual release" for me. I had horrible beta life on B6 and below (got better as it went, but still far below 6.1.4). Threw on iOS 7 GM last night again, and after 6hrs being off the charger, and 1hr 46mins of use (split between wifi and LTE) I was at 78% so that's about on par for an 8hr usage. I can't complain.

I did do the following:
- Fresh Install -- I don't think it matters much anymore, but I always do it as an old school person. It's all habit now.

- Disabled the System location services for things I didn't need (like frequent, etc).

- Turned off background app refresh for everything but Google Maps (which I rarely use, but would forget to re-enable when I do otherwise)

So we'll see how it goes today on a full day.

When the using my 4S with GM on it the battery drops REALLY fast...like 25% within two hours of wifi browsing. The odd is, when in standby it barely uses any power! I just updated yesterday.

On my iPad mini it is different. I also updated it, but it uses battery the same like with 6.1.3!

The 25% is typical. The 4S is rated for approx 9hrs on wifi which translates to 54 minutes per hour of usage. This is with iOS6, but I see no reason to expect it to be higher with 7.
