I love iOS7. Its everything I loved in iOS7 but with more features. I really don't understand the anger towards it. Its essentially the same OS!

Speaking from my own point of view, the "anger" relates to aesthetics. Personally, I'm not angry, just reeeally disappointed: I.do.not.like. what they did with the look of the OS. I prefer the look of damn near everything in iOS 6. I find most of the iOS 7 design to be trendy and (obviously) polarizing:

- Icons-Hate ALL of them in comparison to previous versions
- Calendar: Too "plain text-y". And the red does not help.
- Mail: Again, too "plain text-y"
- Overall "cartoony" look. I prefer the skeuomorphic approach, which makes things more intuitive and reduces iconographic interpretation.

Things I do like:

-Lock screen (great big "buttons" for passcode)
-"Bladed", translucent interface
- Parallax effect and OS animation
- Multitasking implementation and overall OS functionality

I believe that Apple users are very concerned about aesthetics (Steve was too-to the point of insanity). I do not recall such vocal dissention in recent Apple history with regards to a product's appearance (aside from Game Center green felt). There may have been, I just don't remember (probably because I liked everything they did until now).

This is all personal and in no way means that you are wrong for loving iOS 7, on the contrary. (See my signature :D)

But it bears to mention that at least some Apple users, even enthusiasts like myself, are going as far as calling an Apple product ugly. Nobody is wrong here. It is simply, a matter of taste. I simply disagree with Apple's (under Jony Ive) taste here, for the first time ever. And for me, it's heartbreaking.

72.5% adoption in 1 month, not exactly a figure to fret about is it especially considering the growing number of legacy iOS devices?

Get a bit of colour in your lives b!tches!!!

I'm not sure what Apple was thinking. Maybe they were trying to make the ugliest OS possible with the most hideous clashing colors. They've nearly succeeded. What's wrong with skeuomorphism again? I don't have anything against flat operating systems, but this just looks hideous. I've gotten used to it though. Apple could have done it better. The apps updated for iOS 7 look better than Apple's apps. The main reason I updated was because of control center.

.
@irnchriz - I'll bet that, in your mind, there's nothing that Apple can do wrong.

You sound like the local fanboyz chapter president!

So tired…

…of these pissant media companies trying to get some profile by posting controversial Mac statistics based on their often biased look at users.

"Sure, we only distribute a utility for bull insemination, but our analytics tell us we've only been getting hits from iOS 4, therefore…"

I love IOS 7. And so all of my friends. It's far better IOS6.

Real world is different from blogs and forums...

I had the same Battery issues on my 4S when I first installed it and found the location settings were killing mine. My battery works great now. here are some settings I posted on a different thread that helped me. I think this was all of em:

Settings > General > Background App Refresh : Turn off almost all (left Maps, Reminders and Weather)

Settings > Privacy > Location Services : Again, turn off pretty much all of them.

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > (all the way at the bottom) System Services : All off for me.

Settings > Privacy > (all the way at the bottom) Advertising : Limit Ad Tracking
Background app refresh - off
Location services - completely off
Limited add tracking - on
Complete reinstall, restore data - same bad battery
Complete reinstall, start from SCRATCH - same bad battery

My battery performance was A-OK with iOS6, garbage now. On Tuesday, I was < 20% by noon. Three weeks ago I had it get < 20% by 1:30PM. Two weeks ago, my battery completely drained by 1:30PM.

Given the fact that the battery was just fine in iOS6, I still have to go back to the low cellular signal theory in iOS7. Which hopefully gets addressed, but as many folks who have been burned by Apple with crappy GPUs, if the % of people with problems is low enough, Apple will just ignore the problem.

iOS7

My iPhone has still 5.1.1 ! Purchsed new factory unlocked from Apple store,I am not considering upgrade never. I love it ! Battery life i perfect, never crashed! no problem! Iphone 4S (for Steve ) :p

I loath iOS 7
Sure, iOS 6 needed some pizzaz, but iOS 7 UI is just garbage! Steve would fire Tim if he could!
Switching to Android asap.

Stop with this Steve would do this or Steve wouldn't do that ****. He's dead. He asked Apple not to do something because it was what he wanted them to do.

And also think of the reaction to Aqua UI on Mac OS X against Platinum on OS 9. Steve wasn't afraid to shake things up.

I don't like iOS 7 either.

I don't personally know anyone who likes iOS 7 other than the obvious Apple fanboys (who would have liked anything anyway).

iOS 6 could have used many changes, but the ones they did to achieve iOS 7 were more often than not bad ones.

I'm happy I managed to downgrade back to iOS 6.

Another thing, if these figures are only looking at the first week of release how does that jive with Apple's statement that after one week or so iOS 7 was the fastest upgrade in iOS history? I think I'll trust Apple's activation figures over some ad firm with a limited sample size.

...

I guess one of the major factor is the second-hand iPhones,

A lot of them were in the market.
Plus person who have two iPhones might not upgrade the one one.

Absolutely hate ios 7 from the blinding blinding white background to the awful music player.

It's made my iphone 4 useless. I know it's older hardware but I was going to get an iphone 5 in the future but now forget it. Going with another manufacturer

Has anyone tried using an ipad in dimly or dark conditions? Omg the volume and scrubber bar background light up the room! And while your there... Dont change the volume because that leaves a big volume box on the screen for too long.

Soooo pi##ed off

I guess i'm the minority.

iOS 7 is the change I was looking for.

I think on the whole iOS 7 was a positive change. It looks different. People always complain about change at first. But over time people get used to the new look.

I like the control center and the enhanced notification center in particular.

Anyway, as to the original article, remember all this is speculation. Apple may or may not release some more detail on Tuesday. Everyone else is just guessing based on web stats that may or may not be reliable.

I really like the functionality changes to iOS7 a lot. I think the look is crap though. It feels very 90s GTA: Vice City. If I could keep the functionality and move the icons even back to iOS6 I would be happy.

Also can't wait for my 5S to arrive as iOS started pretty decent on my 4, but as the weeks have passed it has slowed my 4 way down. Up until now I have never thought about jailbreaking my device, but I would do about anything to get the ugly flat icons off my iPad Mini. It truly is an eyesore. Almost outweighs the functionality benefits.

Well, if you swipe up the control center, you'll see there's now a quick shortcut to the brightness bar that wasn't there in iOS 6.

My favorite replies here are the ones that claim all the hate comes from people who are paid to badmouth Apple and their products, essentially saying it's impossible for any rational, independent-thinker to dislike something Apple is doing.

It's just amusing that whenever someone gives their honest opinion Apple or their products, everyone jumps on their back and claims they were paid by the competition to do so, or tells them to go to Android because "they deserve it".

It's a very defensive technique used by lots of Apple fans: playing the victim. Which only goes to prove they are feeling enormous pressure from their competition.

I don't like iOS 7 that much any more. A few things maybe users here could help me with:

Copy/Paste of picture from Safari to text message. It used to be that I hold on the picture, click copy, then in text message hold and hit paste, and the picture would display. Now, it pastes a link to the picture instead of the picture itself. The only way I can seem to put the picture is to save it to my camera roll, then insert a picture into the text message.

Issue #2: Google maps navigation shuts off when turn my phone screen off. It used to keep talking and giving directions, which would temporarily turn on the screen, and then the screen would black out again. Now, when the screen is blacked out Google navigation just stops navigating.

Are there any settings to fix either of these issues?

Wow a lot more negative reaction on this thread than I expected.

Personally was very tired of the look of iOS 6 and prior and would jailbreak to make it look different. I'm very content with the way iOS 7 looks and more so how it performs.

Yep, I mentioned it earlier. The blinding white, while being used in a dark room, can cause retina damage. So unpleasant to use before going to sleep in a dark bedroom anymore.

I can't see how anyone gushing over iOS7 is using it in a similar situation.

On 73% of all devices in one month and adoption is slow? Lol...
That includes all iphones and ipads sold to date.. Do the math.
Oxymoronic article !

Oh, and if u hate iOS 7 u deserve Android. Have u looked what their phones looks like? No elegance or taste whatsoever. Ewwww

You'd be surprised at just how many people don't care what a phone looks on the outside. Not everyone is as shallow and superficial as you appear to be with that comment.

Ditto!!!

fewer people will be able to update ios7 versus ios6 as ios7 is a much more sizeable update and may require reshuffling of data
