Why worry about the first week, a month later? Where's the comparison of both a month out? If they're at 72% after a month, that seems plenty fast, especially since they don't specify that they can tell which of those devices can't be updated to 7 (meaning it can't reach 100%).

Also, of all the people I know that have iPhones, a surprising number of them had their devices bricked by iOS 7 in such a way that even restoring in iTunes would not fix it and they had to resort to some quite nerdy solutions. Not very user-friendly eh!

I do wish Apple made it easy to just "format and reinstall" an iOS device. Why does it have to be so ridiculously complicated to do this?? If an installation goes wrong, there's literally nothing you can do in many cases because the device refuses to accept any incoming connection.

Also, I've learnt the hard way that installing a new version of iOS means that your device will likely be much, much more sluggish to do even the most basic tasks if your iPhone is soooo old that it's been out for more than 6 months. If that happens, too bad, you can't downgrade, because **** you, that's why. It's Apple's way of saying "buy a new iPhone every year or else we'll make sure your current one breaks".

So unless I had an iPhone 5 or newer, I would not install iOS 7. I'd rather have an old OS that works well than a new OS that doesn't work.

Well I'm not a big fan. As with previous iOS updates, I did it right away.

This one, I regret.

I've upgraded my 4S. Won't upgrade my iPad for a long time.

My battery life sucks....been on on the helpful websites changing what I can, but still goes down quickly. It was fine on 6.

Don't like how deleting individual message bubbles in messages is a few more swipes compared to before.

Not a fan on the new calendar view.
Don't like how I used to be able to swipe across to delete an email, but that functionality takes another step.

Even scrolling to the multi-tasking apps seems slow and not as fluid as it should be.

I do like the simplified appearance.

But that's about it.

I do, however, see the potential and I know Apple will be listening in an effort to correct or enhance it.

Cheers,
Keebler

I was looking forward to iOS 7 but I regret the move now. Safari is missing the ease of navigation and the color scheme was quite ready for prime time. Johnny may have found his design limit.

Easy to see why this figure is meaningless.

•3g and 3gs owners cant update to it.

•All the new phones so time rates will differ,

• stupid scare stories from people influencing others.

This article is just wrong. The adoption rate for iOS7 is the highest of any iOS to date including iOS6.

People who like things don't normally come to places like this to say so. They just use their device and get on with life. It's the people that hate things that are most vocal.

I think users have mixed feelings on it.

My daughter bought a 5c and had to get 7.0. My son upgraded and loved it. I upgraded and regretted it (some nice new features, but terrible color scheme). My wife used it on our devices and said no way. None of our iPad were updated. 7 devices....only 3 are running iOS 7 for the forseeable future.

Hopefully a version will be optimized for iPads that will allow for more icons in a folder. And I can only wish a more muted version with less white and fluorescent green is an option as well.

Tried to return to ios 6 today, but apple now blocks it. If they hadn't, I think the percentage would go DOWN.

I'm not surprised; since I upgrade my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 my phone becomes unresponsive almost every day and requiring a hard reset; sometimes more than once a day. I'm not the only one. iOS 6 never had this problem. I'm thinking of wiping it and starting from scratch. Didn't want to lose my app settings & saves but it's becoming tiresome.

Everyone is probably right about the devices that just missed out on qualifying as most of the difference.

There are no Y axis labels on their graph.

This kind of trash shouldn't be an article.

Apparently no one else noticed. That's what you get for being so bad a math and science.

Early adapter

I always update the minute new updates or versions are available. Made a huge mistake with IOS 7 though. Fortunately there was (at that time) a way to go gracefully back to IOS 6 which I did. I tried 7 for a full day but there was too much not to like. To begin with they FORCED me to upgrade iTunes which stinks. When iTunes 11 first came out I didn't like the change and was able to go back to iTunes 10. I think Apple made a huge mistake with this one and I won't be so eager to upgrade the next time. I was looking forward to Mavericks but I'm going to wait several months to see what the reaction by others is.

Important distinction...

Is that 73% of devices capable of running iOS 7 or 73% of all iOS devices seen?

If it's 73% of all iOS devices seen, that's an amazing number.

At first I hated the update. Now I love it. The only thing I really don't like is the calendar is now horrible. I have no clue what days I have anything.

I loath iOS 7
Sure, iOS 6 needed some pizzaz, but iOS 7 UI is just garbage! Steve would fire Tim if he could!
Switching to Android asap.

I hope so...

I never understand people who complain when they have options.

It's almost exactly the same, except for some new and significant features.

Shows how incompetent/needy/stagnant most people are when they can't handle different colors on top of an identical system/user interface.

I think the future advancement of great features will slow because of this. What's the point of making a great product with advanced features if people are just going to wonder how to create a calendar event?

I like iOS7 more than iOS6 on my iPhone4 for three main reasons. Safari and App switching are wayyyyyy better and the control center is a must. Other than that, it definitely could use optimization (stability and speed improvements) and some of the icons should be improved, namely Settings, Photos, Camera, and Voice Memos.

Prior to release I hated the Safari icon, but now that I have it on my phone, I realized that it is the fastest recognizable icon at a glance and I appreciate that. The camera icon on the other hand is easy to overlook and the photos icon really just don't make any sense.

I don't understand why people get so personally hurt and offended by these types of Article postings.

I upgraded my iPhone 5 immediately but have not and probably will not upgrade my iPad 2. iOS 7 is not so great on older hardware or on iPads generally. Definitely seems like it was designed with the iPhone 5/5c/5s in mind.

I didn't hesitate to download it onto my iPad 3, but it has slowed things down quite a bit. I think that, and since it's a major overhaul, some people are afraid of change.

Even with the slower adoption rate, the latest version of Android is on like 30% isn't it?

I regret updating to iOS7 and I know my grumbling discontent warned a few friends away from the update.

It's the little things...like not being able to line edit my text messages with a swipe. A gesture like this was common across the OS which made for an intuitive experience. Now going into a drop down menu to perform the same function as before is neither consistent nor intuitive, its just lame.

iOS7 is the spoke reason I'm of the Android as soon as a suitable replacement hits the market.
I truly hate it on my phone, plus my iPhone 5 has a faulty power button and is out of warranty.

Their is no point having an iOS6 device as sooner or later you will have to upgrade to use your apps anyway, it sucks Apple.

I used to be an avid iPhone supporter too!

The real breaker for me, with 7, is the mess they've made of the Calendar.

And they called that an improvement - yeah, right.

People who like things don't normally come to places like this to say so. They just use their device and get on with life. It's the people that hate things that are most vocal.

And don't forget the ones that get paid to come to places like this to tell people they hate the product. I would say that accounts for most of the hate. :)
