Yet they have the transparency on the passcode screen and the keyboard. They seem to be picking and choosing.

They are probably the effects that require less power. The iPhone 4 just might not be capable of displaying all transparent effects.

Edit: It's the blurred effect that the iPhone 4 is not capable of showing.

There are transparency in spotlight, dock, safari, lock screen, folders, multitasking.
There are only control center keyboard and notification center that don't get transparency

The blur is missing from the keyboard too in those screenshots, although I'd wait until the final release before lighting your pitchfork.

yes , that's what I'm saying, transparency is enabled but blur isn't enabled.
control center is all grey. just awful

Like I stated before - 'Blurred layers are not available on iPhone 4. Parallax is not available on iPhone 4. Letterpress text is not available on iPhone 4.'

Transparency is obviously available (sorry I don't have an iPhone 4), but the blurred effect is not.

Blurring is very computationally intensive. Transparency is not. Blur is not coming to i4.

I know that in the release notes , apple says : blurred layers are not available on iphone 4 but they can add them on gm or final version , before I upgrade to ios 7 beta , my iphone 4 was jailbroken in 6.1.2 and I had ncsettings , this tweak makes you notification center blur like ios 7 and it was working very good , and I had a tweak called 3dboard which makes your background like ios 7 with parallax.

It would be good if they added it at the end, but it's highly unlikely as they would be testing it during the Betas. The iPhone 4 obviously cannot support the blurring effect, hence why its not supported. If it doesn't work well and affects battery life considerable, then Apple won't implement it.

I agree, control center looks awful on iPhone 4.

I need few more days to confirm it, but so far battery life seems to be *excellent*, just picked up my phone and it's on 98% after ~6 hours of standby and few text messages, I haven't had such good results since...can't even remember when.

As far as the iPhone 4 with transparency goes, the dock in Beta 1 was grey was it not? And they've successfully managed to blur that.

To me, the control center in its current state just looks unfinished. More translucent than transparent, and if they can apply the dynamic blurred background to the spotlight search bar, which is pulled down in a similar way to that of the control center then I personally see no reason why it can't get the blurry treatment too.

When they mention blurred layers by featuring on the 4 I reckon that means the blurring that occurs in the messages app when a message is sent, and anything that dynamically applies to suit content. I believe the photos app does a similar thing, but could be wrong.

Just my 2c anyways. Whatever happens I'm not going to upgrade my phone for the sake of it. My iPhone 4 works perfectly, maybe this is apples strategy to make people like me upgrade. But meh, ain't broke don't fix it...

Its funny how could jailbreak community make iPhone4 smooth with these kind of effects and Apple cannot. Its stupid to say iOS7 with all iPhone5 effects cant run smooth on iPhone4. iOS6 is graphically more intensive than this flat crp.

Cydia/Winterboard/modmyi community confirm this.

Its just Apple strategy to force people to upgrade.

I'm telling you guys, the iPhone 4 is more than capable of handling the blurred layers. It is not a big deal. Panoramic wallpapers are way more CPU intensive - scrolling through horizontally whenever you moved your phone in the air, and it handled that fine. Yet it's a feature they also said they would not include with this release. It's marketing, I get it, they want users to upgrade, and they'll take out as many features as they wish in order to do this. It just sucks. But seriously, don't be fooled into thinking the ip4 can't handle simple blurred layers, it isn't that outdated.

Hello

beta 4 is most stable on my old ip4 now. But frequent locations is not working. There is no menu entry...
On my 2nd device ipad mini cellular it is not working, too.

Has someone the same issue? My friend with an ip5 has this feature. All devices get an OTA-update....

In beta 1 a had this feature...

Yours
Christoph

I can see this being a massive discussion on the official Apple Discussion boards when iOS 7 is released, if the blurred lines are left out. People demanding Apple implement it! Most annoying thing about the discussions boards.

Apple on his website says that iphone 4 won't get panorama and airdrop ...

www.apple.com/ios/ios7/features/

Blurred layers are not in the features that iphone 4 won't get

It does however state this in the iOS 7 beta 4 change log:

Blurred layers are not available on iPhone 4.
Parallax is not available on iPhone 4. Letterpress
text is not available on iPhone 4.

Now, notice it says "is/are not available" and not "won't be available"

That's just the way I'm interpreting it, after all, the parallax option was present in the iPhone 4 beta versions, but it didn't work. Wether it's there in beta 4 I don't know though. We can only wait and see what happens :)

Yes sure, you're right on changelog it says are not and not won't be

It's a change log so it won't say 'will not be available' it will say 'is not available' because it's referring to the current release.

I don't think it will be supported on the iPhone 4.

The only thing that I don't understand is : how apple can let a grey control center on iphone 4 ?
Apple has never done similar things in the past

I don't understand you guys why do you keep waste your time with ios 7, it laggs all the time, even small things like scrolling through songs or closing an app.I tried myself every single beta with fresh install and I can see improvements but beta 3 and 4 are the same in terms of speed and smoothness but it isn't near close to 6.1.3.

So you're comparing a beta OS to the latest stable release? Yes, because that is fair.

It's not going to be fluid, especially with all the debug code etc. Every beta has increased the overall responsiveness and Beta 4 is the best yet.
