The iPhone 4 on iOS7 is like iPhone 3G on iOS 4 lol

That's true in many ways. The ironic thing is, this is the first update since iOS 4 that I've been excited about, and the following year is when I got my iPhone 4 after having iOS 4 on the 3G. After upgrading to iPhone 6, next year, I will be able to go on 2 year cycles, because the CRTC made it so the phone has to be paid off in 2 years so we're not locked in to 3 year contracts.

No live/animated lockscreen
No 3D background on homescreen
No transparency
No weather effects
No nothing
Slow as hell, 3fps animations, scrolling etc

What did they do to iOS. :(

If I wanted this I'd get android. Getting back to beautiful iOS6.

It's time to get an iPhone 5, seriously. The iPhone 4 is **** in comparison.

I can't figure this out.I've downloaded many panoramic images, yet the panorama category doesn't show up.Could you PLEASE explain a bit what you did?
Also:can the background color be set to something other than gray?(for dock-control)

Panorama backgrounds are not supported on the 4. And neither is the fully transparent dock. Even on the 4, the dock colour's not really grey, but rather a very poor version of the blurred wallpaper which you have on iPhone 4S and 5.

^This. I'm still on my contract for another year.. The only thing I'm still don't like is that contracts that are already underway are exempt from that law.
So by the time my contract is up I'll be feeling like my friend did when he was stuck with a 3GS until a few months ago. I'm scared of how slow my 4 will be next year

It's a beta 1, and your device is three years old. My wife's iPhone 4 lags on iOS 6 to this day!

Just google something along the lines of "iphone panorama" and download that really large picture to your phone. Heres one to test, that worked no props for me: http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2012/09/17/IMG_3158.jpg

I have a 4. Can you post some screenshots? I'd like to see :)
Screen-shots do not help at all to see (or not see) dynamic elements that move as you shift the phone... it looks just like it does on the iPhone 5, except when you move the phone.

Now I'm wondering if I should upgrade or not. Wonder if it will be as bad as iOS4 on the 3G at final release...

There will still be a lot of value in iOS7 even with the dynamic elements lacking as you still get many enhancements like the better text handling and depth-style navigation (zooming in to layers instead of sliding over all the time), but there are some slow parts for sure on the iPhone 4 right now.

That said the dynamic stuff looks amazing and really adds a lot of understanding to what is going on in an application when used right.

On the iPhone 4, iOS 7 has all the fancy UI effects disabled: no dynamic backgrounds, no blurry transparencies, nothing.

Some UI elements are just plain gray such as the dock. This is ridiculous. It looks terrible.

Did anyone find a workaround to enable the UI effects in iOS 7?

There is already an existing thread about iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 with almost the same thread title as your thread. I would recommand directing your enquiries there.

As for icons, the Apple iOS 7 webpage specifically shows iOS 7 on the iPhone 4 with a transparent dock that you want. I suppose this UI issue will get updated as the betas progress.

Why not keep what you have?

I know it is slow but like every other iphone, with a new update, to make the phone work the same, they need to remove some features. In ios 7 they removed the transparent dock and wallpaper but they still need to remove features to make it run decent, they should remove all the transparency and all the useless graphics, I know, it sucks but that's how it is, I would rather use an iphone that doesen't have a very beautiful os but runs fluid and decent than a beautiful one with animations and useless efects and laggs and takes about a second to type a key( keyboard)

Please correct me if I am misunderstanding, but to me it seems to be a much more rational choice just to keep the original iOS version (or install the one that followed that one, perhaps?) than - in much vain and frustration and stripping down much of the goodies of the iOS 7 - installing iOS 7 on four years old hardware of iPhone 4. The old hardware simply isn't capable of handling good enough the many demanding features of the new iOS 7, and this is really only to be expected.

I have bloobs for ios 4,5 and 6 but there aren't so many apps supported for old versions.I would keep ios 4 but there are no more apps for it, now with ios 7, ios 5 will support less and less apps and the only choice now is to upgrade to ios 7 or stay with ios 6 for one more year.

I can't believe that you guys are actually using ios 7, I can't even stand the lag on keyboard and scroll.

What about iOS 7 on the 4S?? I've contemplated upgrading to the iPhone 5 but maybe I should wait until the "5S". It just seems like iOS 7 was tailor made for the longer screen of the iPhone 5. Would it make sense to wait until the next iPhone comes out?

I have had it loaded on my 4s for about 16 hrs thus far. No crashes yet. A few apps I use from time to time aren't running properly. Outside of that, I have been pleased with the beta.

Which apps are not running properly? Are they third party apps? I think I just really want the taller screen of the iPhone 5. But interestingly enough I've actually been thinking of going with an Android Phone. I really like the customization one can do on it. I know there are not nearly as many apps for Android as there are for iOS but I'm sure there'd be more then plenty for what I would do with a phone. Usually just the basic stuff.

I'll likely have to wait a long while to upgrade anyway given these stupid three years plans carriers impose on us. We'll see what Apple put out for it's next iPhone. I can't see it being too revolutionary.

I haven't loaded all my apps yet, but the few I have had problems with, have been third party. Ebay, BOA, Onstar...

I just became eligible for an upgrade. I think I am going to wait and see what happens with the 5s.

So you just recently upgrade to the 4S? Yeah I'd probably wait to see what they do with the 5S. I made that mistake when I got my 3G in 2009. A few months later Apple release the 3GS. I was kinda upset about that cause my 3G quickly felt out of date. By the time the 4 and then 4S came out It really felt slow and old.
