I think the next devices to go will be the iPhone 4 and iPad 2, and that can happen with 7.1 OR iOS 8 for SURE.

You are correct. If the product is no longer being sold by Apple at the time of a new iOS release, the support is dropped. There is no way the iP4 will see iOS 8, or maybe even 7.5

so hows the iPhone 4 on beta 2? is there any improvements??

Its way snappier (even safari tabs are smooth), and blur dock is working. On the bad side, my battery has suffered considerably, but I've heard the opposite from everyone else. I updated OTA, so I'll do a clean install tomorrow and see if that fixes it.

It's much faster, folders and dock are finally transparent, battery drain problem in my iPhone is fixed. Beta 1 was unusable for me, beta 2 is perfectly acceptable. It lags a little sometimes and there are some glitches, but right now I'm happy with it and seems I won't be downgrading to 6.1.3 like i did two weeks ago.

forgive me if i missed it in here becaus ei was skimming through the pages, but is it not possible to have at least the weather text in the notification center?

Not possible you can only have stocks there.

i installed ios 7 few weeks ago and downgraded it after a day. it was to laggy... i hope that in the final release it will be a lot smoother.

i already saved my shsh blobs so i can downgrade after the the release because probably apple won't be signing the 6.1.3 after the ios 7 release.

recommend you do the same because being stuck with a buggy ios on your iDevice is not fun at all

How could they release this for iPhone4 in first place. They shouldve said its only iPhone5 compatible, because I've seen it on 4S, same **** there. iOS6 isnt 3 years old still its smooth sail.

Not true, my gf has a 4S with iOS7 beta 1 and now 2 and i notice almost no lag at all compared to my 5.

I don't know it just is. if it's not working for you try's reinstalling beta 2

Ios 7 beta 2 on iphone works better than the first beta, dock transparency works , safari tabs scrolling is smooth , there are 3 problems , there is no parallax effect , control center and the others menus don't have blur effect , weather app still don't have animations.

thanks thats what i figured. Wouldn't weather be more useful considering not all of us are day traders but most of us do wonder what to wear in the morning when we get up?

I agree but clearly apple don't so all we have at the moment is stocks. It may change at a later date.

Performance in Beta 2 is noticeably better. Still a little laggy and a couple of graphical glitches but besides that it's ok. Looking forward to the improvements in the next beta.

Do you think that apple will enable blur effects and parallax ?

I found something in the settings it seems that apple wants to enable it.

Ios 7 beta 2 iphone 4

This option doesn't work on iphone 4

I've had an iPhone 4 since day one... it still had it's laggy UI moments in back in iOS 4.

The 4 compared to the 3GS's performance -- nearly identical... especially when you factor in the fact that the 4 is pushing a retina display.

Personally, I would sell the iPhone 4 and buy a 4S that's in good shape. They're going for similar prices on Kijiji and Craigslist.

Let's take a step back and think things through for a minute.

The iPhone 4 is 3 years old.

It has the same processor as the 3GS (which is now 4 years old). Just slightly more power efficient and 200mhz faster

The same GPU as the 3GS but the iPhone 4 is pushing twice the resolution and 4x the pixels

This is the very first beta of iOS 7

So what we have here is a 3 year old phone with 4 year old internals running a BETA OS and you're wondering why things aren't running as smooth as an iPhone 5?

I'll agree with your last point, which is that this is still in beta (beta 2 now for me on iPhone 4), but your other points about it being simply too old to handle the animations and effects is simply not true. Before trying out iOS 7 on my iPhone 4 I was jailbroken with all sorts of thematic effects and animations and it ran smooth as butter. Live wallpapers that had 3D effects that changed with touch, transparent docks and Notification Center. I could even see the 3D animated wallpapers THROUGH the gaussian effect (identical to iOS7's) in Notification Center.

There's no reason these effects couldn't be employed on iPhone 4, and they still may, but I think it's more of a deliberate attempt by Apple to push customers to the newer phones. It's a little insulting IMO but hey, I guess it's business.

That said, I'm glad I had my shsh saved so I could hop back over to 6.1.2 and rejailbreak. iOS 7 is too buggy and unfinished aesthetically for me at this point.

FWIW I'm enjoying it on my 4. My only complaint is that the dock looks like a pile of *******s.

It's a LITTLE laggy for me, but all my apps work and it hasn't crashed... yet...

I'll get the 5S / 6 when it's released alongside iOS 7.

Let me ask you this: Why do you think you have to keep upgrading to the latest iOS release? You know, you don't have to. Your phone will run just fine as it is for years to come.

Well... I was on iOS 5.1.1 until a few weeks ago.. when I updated to the beta.
And eventually to keep using the "newest" apps, I'm going to have to upgrade sooner or later. My iPhone 4 was slow on iOS 5.1.1 too. Not this slow, but some parts of it were even slower than they are now. Like safari for instance. Although I suspect that had to do with it being jailbroken. Nevertheless, I thought it was time for me to "get with the times" :p And I knew no matter how slow it was gonna be I was going to end up updating to iOS 7 in the fall anyways. I skipped iOS 6 because there wasn't anything that really appealed to me but now in iOS 7 everything is changed, and it makes my old phone feel new again.

You're jumping to conclusions, in my opinion. it's a beta and the first one at that. Let's just wait and hope that it becomes faster as the beta progresses.

Yeah, I'm assuming they will optimize it for A4. May not get all features, but hey you get the update. I think this is the oldest support cycle ever.
