So you just recently upgrade to the 4S? Yeah I'd probably wait to see what they do with the 5S. I made that mistake when I got my 3G in 2009. A few months later Apple release the 3GS. I was kinda upset about that cause my 3G quickly felt out of date. By the time the 4 and then 4S came out It really felt slow and old.

I have had my 4s for 20 months. After 20 months, I am eligible for an upgrade, even though my contract isn't over until October.

Your contract is only two years?? Guess you're not in Canada. My contract is 3 years. Which mean I may not be able to upgrade until September of next year. 6 months before my contract is up in March of 2015. :(

Indeed... I really hate being in Canada when it comes to phone contracts.

The annoying part is I upgraded last March but my contract didn't end until September. So when I upgraded they renewed my contract for three more years starting in September. Not March when I got my 4S. How stupid is that?? (I'm with Fido BTW)

I had the iOS 7 beta on my IP4 and I hated it! There was no point, as much as I like upgrading to new software I had to downgrade to iOS 6! It doesnt suit the IP4 at all and is not meant for it. I am getting the iPhone 5 on Tuesday anyways, I might upgrade to the beta shortly after that!!

So you had to wait 5 months before you could use the 4S?
Or you just had to keep paying for the old contract for 5 months first?
Either way Canadian carriers are all dumb... At MTS they made a similar mistake with my 4, but it was a whole new contract and the service didn't start until December, and I got the phone in September, so I had an unlocked iPhone 4 without any service for a few months.. I went to tell them about it but they referred me to the contract which says that the service doesn't start until 2 months after the contract is signed.. Pretty ridiculous...

Hello, I have put IOS7 on my IPhone 4 and at first it was really buggy but now the keyboard doesn't lag, multitasking is smooth, and transitioning from app to app is just fine... The only complaint is the grey dock... But maybe for performance sake you just need to "break in" the IOS.

i hope in beta 2, ios 7 for iphone 4 is being not laggy
and had a same dock like ios 7 on 4s/5..
just it.

Who is your carrier? Because Verizon changed to 24 a few months ago and ATT changed to 24 literally last week. Or maybe it was this past week. Though I think if your contract by February 2014 you still qualify for a 20 month upgrade. March and after though have to wait the full two years.

That phone is nearly 3 years old... you are lucky to even get an update from Android after 1 year on a device they sell. The hardware cant keep up with the new OS. What did you expect a smooth sail?

The Nexus S runs Jellybean just fine with full google now and everything and it also came out in 2010. The phone its based on the original galaxy s1 is actually older than the iphone 4. As far as OS updates and features the Nexus S got much more features and OS updates than the 4 did.

No I could use the phone right away. I was just able to upgrade six months prior to my contract ending. They just tacked on 3 more years to the end of the previous contract. Instead of the 3 years starting in March which I think it should have it started in September. Really stupid.

FWIW I'm enjoying it on my 4. My only complaint is that the dock looks like a pile of *******s.

It's a LITTLE laggy for me, but all my apps work and it hasn't crashed... yet...

I'll get the 5S / 6 when it's released alongside iOS 7.

Difference is, the Nexus S was actually MADE by Google, (and Samsung) so it only makes sense that Google would keep releasing updates for a device that they made, but theres just to many different Android devices out there for Google (and the companies who make said devices) to keep up with updates for all of them even if they can run the newest update perfectly.

So buy nexus/google edition phone. Both major flagships are releasing a google edition which has all the benefits of the traditional nexus device.-

My experience with ios 7 on the iphone 4 has actually been fairly positive. I'm sure that the final build of ios 7 will run much smoother on the iphone 4 anyways.

.. I'm scared of how slow my 4 will be next year
Let me ask you this: Why do you think you have to keep upgrading to the latest iOS release? You know, you don't have to. Your phone will run just fine as it is for years to come.

I can't figure this out.I've downloaded many panoramic images, yet the panorama category doesn't show up.Could you PLEASE explain a bit what you did?
Also:can the background color be set to something other than gray?(for dock-control)

Save that panoramic, then go to settings>wallpaper>scroll down and you should see another album called panoramics and select that and done

Reasons why iPhone 4 doesn't have the effects:

Firstly: iPhone 4 does not have a powerful chip (A4) and may be discontinued in the near future, thus not having the power...

Second: Yes, it does suck not having these effects on 4, but they need to limit the power of the OS in the phone.

Third: iPhone 3GS now lost it's support line, and everyone should be switching.

Lastly: iOS 7 may get too big if the effects were added, and causing a RAM overload.

They have limited all fancy effects on iP4, but yet iOS7 runs 2fps. lol

He will have to. Lots of apps do not work on iOS5, it will be the same when iOS7 comes out, apps will require iOS7.

I haven't had to yet (since 5.1) and I suspect when iOS7 comes out I still won't have to. My point is, no one's twisting your arm to upgrade the OS. If you're device is older, just keep the same OS and get on with it. If you have to have the new features of iOS7, then you can get a newer phone, but your 4 or 4S on 5.1 or 6.+ will do you just fine for what you bought the phone for and it will keep doing just fine.

I think the next devices to go will be the iPhone 4 and iPad 2, and that can happen with 7.1 OR iOS 8 for SURE.
