I'm finding that 7.0.3 is even better on iPhone 4. Looks like they've done some slight improvements. Less stutter here and there. More responsive. Definitely liking it better than iOS 6. Speed is at least the same, definitely faster for certain functions.

The new update is a blessing. I used iOS 7 when it first released and it was slow and unusable and went back to 6.1.3. I updated to 7.0.3 and I must say there is a big difference and now the phone is completely usable.

Although the new update is much better, they still didin't fix the lag in multitasking or they should've just add those fade animations for multitasking too.:(

I'm having around 50 apps installed, including Apple's. I've around 6GB free of 16. Music and photos account for roughly 5GB.

By the way, is it only me, or does 7.0.3 leave more memory for apps, letting more room for them to stay in memory? It seems like it. Apps seem to be still alive a lot more often when I switch back to them. They seemed to having to start up all the time with 7.0.2...

I'd say try it, but *save your blobs* using snowbreeze or ifaith so you can downgrade back to 6 if you think that 7.0.3 is not for you.

If the above sentence made no sense for you, look for assistance in the hacks and jailbreak subforum.

Personally, I think that the performance we are seeing with 7.0.3 on the i4 is good enough.

I think my 4 is now smoother on 7.0.3, especially the new fade animation and browsing through pages on springboard seems faster.

Just downloaded 7.0.3 on my iP4.

+ Animations are a lot faster. I did a test of unlocking the phone, going into Music.app and skipping an already playing song, and I think it's about ⅓ faster at least, since the icons don't need to fly in and the app doesn't need to zoom up.

+ Spotlight pulldown is now smooth(er), and you can search Wikipedia or the internet from there again (it was sorely missed by me, since launching Safari pre-7.0.3 was slow as hell)

+ I tested the response time of a rather slow loading app, Agenda Calendar 4, and from cold launch, it would before become responsive after 11 seconds. This has now been reduced to 8, and the animations in the app is much smoother.

+ The lock screen camera shortcut now always registers my finger.

+ Keyboard seems snappier and more responsive in almost all apps.

Interesting reviews. I cant see 7.0.3 - where is it? Is there JB for it?

Anyone compare it to 6.1.3 ?

7.0.3 has been out for over a week now. Just go Settings > General > Software Update.

Not sure on the Jailbreak situation though..

Compared to 6.1.3. With Reduced Motion turned on, I find it's on par, if not the same.

Thanks for this. I'm sure it's been mentioned but I've never seen it. I just turned on Reduce Motion, and I actually prefer the quick fade-out of this animation than the one iOS 7 defaults with.

Me too! Gives me a feeling I'm not waiting and watching an animation take place before I can get to the next thing I'm doing.

Upgraded my old spare iPhone 4 to iOS 7 a few days ago, I'd held off because a lot of people had made out it's very laggy but it's actually much smoother than I expected.

After doing an ota-upgrade (no restore) it did initially seem pretty much unusable, but now I've disabled "Background App Refresh" and "iCloud Documents and Data" there's barely any difference in speed between this and iOS 6 when comparing two phones side by side. I'd recommend iOS 7 to iPhone 4 owners, if you can overlook the hideous new icons.

I can't actually believe the difference this beta makes, I was convinced my iPhone 4 needed replacing urgently, this update really changed my mind. Also.. DARK KEYBOARD!

This will be great for those I know with an iPhone 4 that have been unhappy with iOS 7's speed or have stayed on iOS 6.1.3.

Why did I want to punch that guy by the time the video was over?:)

It does look faster.

My biggest lag is making phone calls.
I've dialed the wrong person quite a few times because of this

It looks good indeed. However, my biggest issue is that updated apps seem to be taking the latest A7 hardware into account, or at least A6. It takes forever for apps to start up. For instance, Facebook should provide a 'light' version of its app which runs better on older iPhones.

Maybe we can just stay on older version of Apps. But I guess thats not gonna be easy.

I have an old iPhone 4, coming up 3 years old. I just updated to 7.0.4 from 6.1.3 (I think) today, everything went really smooth. Maybe - maybe just a tad snappier then the iOS 6 I was using.

No new install, just updated it on top of the older iOS6. I set the reduce motion to ON and change back ground to black color, nothing fancy.

Phone is an out of service unlocked AT&T, just wi-fi. All stock apps just google maps and Strava app for my cycling needs.

I'm glad I did it :D

Nice! the overall speed and the delay in opening the not in background apps is comparable to a Iphone 4s with 7.04

Yeah but scrolling is still laggy and when I use itunes radio, everything becomes laggy.:(

I am from Italy and here no Itunes Radio:mad:

I'll wait to try Twitter with 7.1, it is the heavier app I use

Have you compared with Iphone 4s and 5 while using Itunes Radio?
